Re: Future RP Ideas
Words: "A short life but a sweet one." or "Vigilance in peace, perseverance in war, and rest in death." or maybe "Winter will not touch the evergreen."
Sigil: A beheaded fox with a bird in its maw. Or a black owl with three heads on a white banner. Or maybe a green tree on a white banner.
Keep Name: "Lord's Rest", "The Watcher's Fort, ", or maybe "Oakhart".
I think a decent history could be formed using any of those three corresponding suggestions.

Even if it was, I wouldn't really care. I'm just glad that someone who knows what they are doing is going to give the idea the justice it deserved.VirtualWeasel wrote:
As for the 'rights' to the RP:
No, we haven't talked to Archer, but I don't really consider this to be a direct sequel or reboot of RS, more of a spiritual successor with its own story and mechanics.
I'm thinking any house made should be definitely south of the Neck, given that we know a little bit more about the smaller clans of the North, rather than the south. The Reach or Dorne would be kinda cool as far as regions go, I think.EpicAbrad wrote:Sweet, that's all sounding great to me. I'll be interested.
Now, despite my fear it will get lost in all the other questions floating around: if we're going to have a user-created house for people to join in the ASOIAF RP, then we'll have to have some user-created details for it. So give your suggestions on any or all of these:
Family name; House words; Sigil; Keep name; and any ideas you have concerning their history.
You don't have to be planning on joining the house, or even the RP itself, to give your input.

Here's a preview of the RS revival:
Map is kinda [&@%!] but I'll be making a more detailed one once things get rolling.
EDIT: Also, you may notice a major difference: all players start as pirates. However, as it is open-world, everyone has the option to get their crimes pardoned... So long as they do a favor for the nation they wish to pledge service to.

Re: Future RP Ideas
50 years ago means it's set in 248 AC. Aegon V is on the throne--hey, it's Egg!
Yep, yeah, the house we create should tooootally be sworn to the Targaryens. Which would place it somewhere in the Crownlands. We should totally be located on Crackclaw Point. Peninsula near King's Landing. It has bogs and lots of pines. Ooh. Maybe near the border to the Riverlands. On the coast. That bay to the north of Crackclaw Point is the Bay of Crabs. The majority of the population of Crackclaw Point are descended from the First Men. So we'd probably share some distant blood with the Starks. Neat!
If our house is to be fairly new, perhaps our family had fought for the crown during the Fourth Blackfyre Rebellion. in 236. And yah de dah, we fought well, founded our own house (which would be 12 years young, now). Maybe we were part of some sort of merc band, maybe we were already hedge knights. Maybe we saved king from some surprise attack, or his kingsguard Duncan. The decisive battle of the rebellion was the Battle of Wendwater Bridge. So uh, maybe our house could be named Wendbridge.
Or if our house is older, well, we could have just about any sort of history.
Family name; House Wendbridge.
House words; Let No Water Pass Under. (XD corny, but, I mean, water under a bridge. The words perhaps meaning that "we don't forget grudges". Plus, bridge. Come on!)
Sigil; A green field, a red stripe across it from top left to bottom right, with a stone grey bridge across it, vertically, in the center of the sigil. (The battle of Wendwater Bridge. The river was filled with corpses, and presumably, the water got a bit red.)
Keep name; Uh, maybe Pinebarren? (literally just ripped from the wiki's description of Crackclaw Point having bogs and pine barrens)

Re: Future RP Ideas
Just about: it's actually 247! (No not as in Musicman.) I thought it would be a good idea to start at a somewhat decent-sized tourney, and I found one in 247 at Blackhaven (home to House Dondarrion!). It's the one where... well if you remember or want to look it up then that's fine, but I think if any of you don't know what I mean then I won't ruin the surprise!
Also Crackclaw Point <3 Nimble Dick forever
So yes, Crownlands would work, or Stormlands. I like Stormlands for proximity to the tourney, but really anything other than the North, Iron Islands, Vale, or Dorne is probably good. :P
I like the sound of the following names: Spondrell, Firman, Rosemont, Marsby. Those are totally made up but if you like any of them then we could use one. Words, sigil... oh I'm tired again but I'll see if I can think of one tomorrow. Keep the brainstorming going guys!

These are definitely cool.Sigil: A beheaded fox with a bird in its maw. Or a black owl with three heads on a white banner. Or maybe a green tree on a white banner.
Reach is totally an option. Dorne... well considering some of their houses' relationship with the Dondarrions, maybe not so much. Although if they were a house attempting to smooth things over diplomatically by attending the tourney, that would be an interesting plot hook.Archer wrote:I'm thinking any house made should be definitely south of the Neck, given that we know a little bit more about the smaller clans of the North, rather than the south. Re: Future RP Ideas
I don't like the sound of Spondrell and Firman, and Marsby sounds too..IDK, too something. We can work with Rosemont, though. If I recall correctly, mont is French for mount - Rose Mountain. With a name like that, they should be located somewhere within the Reach, possibly near a wooded mountain, possibly alongside the Mander, or maybe between Highgarden and Goldengrove.
House words: Not sure. We could go with "Winter will not touch the evergreen", or perhaps "Let the flowers hide the dead".
Sigil: A green tree on a white banner.
Keep name: Redgrass Hold
History: Arthur Rosemont was born the son of an impoverished knight in 164, in lands in the Reach sworn to House Osgrey. Arthur lived his life in relative obscurity for the first three decades of his life. In 195, when the first Blackfyre rebellion broke out, House Osgrey sided with the pretenders. Rosemont, however, decided to throw his lot with the Targaryen Kings. He participated in several small-scale battles in the war, where he proved adept at military matters. The now Ser Rosemont was given command of a company of men in the decisive battle of the the war, the battle of Redgrass Field, where he managed to save the life of Prince Maekar. For his part in the defeat of the Blackfyre Rebellion, Rosemont was given ownership of lands formerly owned by the rebellious House Osgrey, and a Lordship. Lord Rosement took up residence in a large house on a hill, and had a rudimentary wall constructed around it. In 210, Arthur Rosemont passed away, the lands going to his second son, Aemon, who constructed the present Redgreass Hold, save for a few minor alterations undertaken by his son. Aemon, though still the last and least of Lords, managed to expand the House greatly, and forged alliances with many other noble families in the region. Aemon himself died in 240, at the age of 64, leaving the lands to the current Lord Rosemont.

If we were to go with Rosemont(which I'm really liking by the way), I like the words "Let the flowers hide the dead.
I like TSO's idea for the sigil, but if a simpler idea was preferable, you could always go with a red rose upon a hill on a field of white.

Re: Future RP Ideas
I think Rosemont sounds good to go with! When I have time I'll run up a good old MS Paint sketch of a sigil for them (from your suggestions).
Roles to claim for this will likely cap at 1 lord, 1 lady, 3 sons, 3 daughters, 2 uncles, 1 aunt, 2 cousins, 1 Maester, 1 master-at-arms, 1 smith, 1 master of horse, 2 household guards, and 2 sworn swords (knights). Obviously I do not expect 20 players but those are the limits in case more than one person wants the same role.
Now just so everyone knows, if you want to join as part of your own made-up house instead of the group one, you have that option as well. You could also be part of a pre-existing one, but not a Great House, and you cannot be the lord. And obviously you don't have to be a noble at all!

Re: Future RP Ideas
I feel like to create a consistent story with House Rosemont, we will require a comparatively lengthy planning period where we discuss the characters and their relationships, as well as who gets what. In addition, I think that Lord Rosemont and his wife should probably be NPCs.EpicAbrad wrote:I think Rosemont sounds good to go with! Re: Future RP Ideas
So, in unsurprising news, King Aegon V, despite having never previously executed any persons by fire, put all of House Zerg to the torch, to the delight of a grateful Seven Kingdoms.
Yes, the Lord and Lady of any house should not be PCs. Too much power, and doesn't make any sense. A lord (realistically) can't just up and leave his holding to go on a quest. When he gets back, everyone would be dead or dying.
Nobody knows how to work the well without setting fire to the keep.

How does "Fierce when Roused" sound as a motto? We're usually okay, but if you [&@%!] us off we'll kick your ass. "The Sleeping Giant" would also work as a way to mean the same thing.
If we are Rosemont I'm tempted to say have a rose as a Sigil. But I'd like the Sigil to relate to the history of our house. Like a Mammoth head because our founder (allegedly) killed a Mammoth when fighting Wildlings. And for winning that battle (and famously killing the Mammoth) our family became a proper house and took the Mammoth as our Sigil.
I'd like the join the main PC house as a son anyway. But yeah, having the Lord and Lady be NPCs sounds good.

Little did King Aegon V know that House Zerg had friends in the Dorthraki horde and within months, all of the kingdoms were ravenged by the horde. How tragic.

That's a great one, but what about "Blood cannot stain the rose?" It could reference a part of the family history, like maybe the Rosemonts nearly got wiped out at some point.

I feel like everyone's planning far too grand a history for the Rosemonts. They should be relatively obscure, with this RP being the thing that makes them famousish.Rook wrote:That's a great one, but what about "Blood cannot stain the rose?" Re: Future RP Ideas
Okay, having the Lord and Lady be NPCs is a good idea. So everything else on that role list stands right now except for those two. I mean obviously if you come up with your own idea for how you're connected to (or work for) the/a house then that'll probably be fine too, but so far the list seems pretty comprehensive.
"No Rose Lacks Thorns" is nice, short and sweet and good for a house motto. I think the history should be something interesting but not too complex, honourable but not too flashy. I'll try think of a story myself as well to fit those meaningless and vague descriptors.
I'm looking forward to seeing your character in action Baloth. I like multiple player houses as it's kind of like the multiple ships in RS except they'll all be put together (or reasonably close together) at the beginning. Mhmm, this is coming together quite nicely. I wound up having almost no time to spare today but I'll have some tomorrow to work on the OP and perhaps make mock-ups of some sigils.

Yes. I may reprise my French guy (I think it was Pierre something?) but I'll decide once I see a couple of people's ships.VirtualWeasel wrote:IT'S HAPPENING: http://forums.uesp.net/viewtopic.php?f=43&t=39112

Yes, I'm not yet sure what sort of character Lord Brandon Wendbridge, heir of House Wendbridge, might be like. Charismatic, at the very least. I tink I'll have him be kinda weasel-y. Spymaster like.
Or, no, he'd be Ser Brandon Wendbridge. Because. They're landed knights. So he should have some combat skills.
