Re: General Discussion
Oh boy, is it good. I started watching only a year or two before you did, discovering it just a couple of months after Season 10 ended. I've been watching week-by-week for all of the Chorus saga (11-13). Season 13 continues the perfect blend of dramatic action and comedy. It has some great new lines, but also some call-backs to classic jokes and characters. There have been some great moments so far, but I won't spoil anything for you.
Y'know, have you checked out the Rooster Teeth website? They post all their new episodes on there first, even before YouTube, and it uses a different sort of video player. If you haven't tried that already, then maybe give it a go and see if your computer can play the videos on there.

Eh, still no luck. On the other hand though, I'll soon be getting an upgrade for my computer which should let me watch flash videos (like Youtube).

Watched San Andreas today. With my dad. For free.
My dad said the worst part was that they used the wrong sound effects for the plane's engine.

You know, I like TV Tropes, and I get a lot of good info from them, but whenever I notice I'm using a specific trope, I can't help but feel as though I'm abusing a cliche.

There's using, then there's abusing. Is that device your best/last/only option to get the point across, or are you using it just to be cool/funny/edgy?

Wait uesp was down and out for a while? Naturally I presume TLD made a crazed comment with me being a core subject.. oh so it was... and so naturally I'll deny this regardless of proof of sabotage and change the subject focus of my post, bc reasons unrelated to the former.. also TLD lies

Solid dude. 'They' do this with cars in virtually every TV show/movie involving cars: If a car pulls out of a garage the sound effect will be of a car peeling off the line even though the tires clearly didn't spin. Or the car will be an '86 Chevy Celebrity yet it will have the engine noise of a Ferrari.likelolwhat wrote: My dad said the worst part was that they used the wrong sound effects for the plane's engine.![]()
As far as I'm aware of Gone In 60 Seconds didn't do this and had legit sound, or at least the engines used in the effects were relatives to the original equipment.

Re: General Discussion
TV Tropes homepage says: "On the whole, tropes are not clichés. The word clichéd means "stereotyped and trite." In other words, dull and uninteresting. We are not looking for dull and uninteresting entries. We are here to recognize tropes and play with them, not to make fun of them."VirtualWeasel wrote:You know, I like TV Tropes, and I get a lot of good info from them, but whenever I notice I'm using a specific trope, I can't help but feel as though I'm abusing a cliche.
Sure, some of the tropes on there have been played out to oblivion, but others may be perfectly fine to use. Heck, there've been a few that I saw and decided that I actually wanted to use them. Either way, it's impossible to tell a good story without using at least a couple of tropes. You just want to put a limit on the ones you do use.
Start the groove.

The rule in movie sound is to make it one step larger: using the sound of a shotgun for a handgun onscreen, the sound of a cannon for a shotgun onscreen, etc.leroybrown wrote:Solid dude. Re: General Discussion
Oh no, you misunderstand, I'm not digging for tropes and then saying "hey this looks cool" and then adding it into the plot. I was reading about Rebirth plots and found the Morality Pet trope, and felt shameful that I had one of these already written into the story.Dark Spark wrote:There's using, then there's abusing. It really seems like more of an issue because it's this particular trope that I find inherently cliche. Either way, I decided to change that character entirely, because making her the pandering source of constant morality for the main guy gives her a pretty shallow character.
I think it all stems from back when I first discovered TV Tropes, and thought it was a site with the intent of documenting common cliches in media, so that they could be avoided. Then, when I found out it wasn't, that thought never really seemed to go away.EpicAbrad wrote:Sure, some of the tropes on there have been played out to oblivion, but others may be perfectly fine to use. Re: General Discussion
Anyone know of any place to buy the Fallout 4 collector's edition? I've been looking everywhere, and almost got one from Bestbuy, however it sold out as I was checking out.
If anyone has any leads, I'd really appreciate the help!!

Certainly more original than "Try thrusting" and the sorts. Makes me wish for more options.. or a more clever fanbase<_<Linkuya wrote:
