Can undependable people not enter guild buildings?

Post by Dunadd »

I've been trying to go into guild buildings, which i managed find when it was the Knights of the Dragon. But now every time i go to the door to a guild it says "this lock has nothing to fear from you" at all times of day. I was arrested for vagrancy at one point. When i check status it says "in the eyes of the law of Daggerfall you are undependable". Is this why i can't enter guilds? And if so how do i change it?

"Undependable" is actually a very low rank of negative regional reputation. The Wiki here does not mention anything about regional reputation affecting admission into guilds:
The purpose of the regional reputation is not completely understood. It has apparently no influence on the way you are treated by the regional populace. It has however an influence on the justice of a region. When your regional reputation drops beyond a certain level the town guards will appear shortly after you enter a settlement and try to arrest you. If you are caught you will be accused of high treason, which will result in a severe punishment if the court finds you guilty. Even if the town guards arrest you for smaller crimes like lockpicking or vagrancy, the court will accuse you of high treason. There are several quests that lower your regional reputation for the duration of the quest, or if you fail, even after. [source]
Are you sure you tried entering the guild at its regular operating hours? Also, apparently shops are closed on some holidays, maybe the guilds are too?

It was just that i wasn't inside opening hours. I forgot that the Fighters' Guild doesn't open till 11am, because they've all been up late fighting stuff and quaffing ales etc i'd imagine

In Daggerfall if your rank is below Guardian (the sixth) you cannot enter guild halls at any time, but in certain regions of Hammerfell the Fighters guild is called Fighters trainers and their halls count like temples, so you can enter at any time.
