The exclusive add-ons for the X360/PC

Post by Red Guardian »

I'm talking about the Orrery, Wizard's Tower, Thieves Den, Mehrunes' Razor, Vile Lair and Fighter's Stronghold. Is it worth it? To get all of them?

I left out the Spell Tomes and Horse Armour which are not worth it, imo. There's already plenty of spells and scrolls available, plus the Horse Armor glitches your main game and I barely even use horses anyway...

Anyway, for roleplay reasons of course they're good but apart from that... The new quests, the new items, monsters... How much hours of gameplay do they add? 1 hour for each DLC or what?

If I were you, I would take all of them: they're all beautiful, especially the Stronghold and the Vile Lair. Obviously, if you're not interested in houses, your only choice is the Orrery and the Razor. Spell tomes aren't that useless IMO. If you manage to find advanced spells such as Summon Xivilai you can learn the enchantment then sell the book (differently from Skyrim you won't lose the books) for a good loot of money.

The four house add-ons and Mehrunes' Razor are absolutely excellent and are a definite purchase. Orrery is pretty minor but it's a nice addition nonetheless. Spell Tomes are good if you're coming from Skyrim and are used to seeing them in the loot tables, and it also adds some unique spells to hunt down if you're a completionist (e.g. bear summon). The jokes about the Horse Armor Pack should answer your question for you, although it's no longer on sale for the same crazy price as it was back then. If you don't use Shadowmere it's an okay buff, and you can also get a free horse right out of the sewers if you play your cards right. However, it doesn't bug your game as long as you don't armor Shadowmere and ignore the contents of the new chest in Cursed Mine.

If gameplay hours are your main concern, none of the add-ons are really for you. Orrery might take you half an hour, as might claiming and upgrading your houses. The only one that adds significant playtime is Mehrunes' Razor, which will definitely eat up a good bit of time if you explore it fully. Biggest dungeon in the game, after all.

I was concerned about playing time upon writing the last post because I was thinking about my main character, which is a master of every faction. For that particular toon things will be over in a couple of hours, of course. I didn't even thought that it would take twice the amount of time to upgrade every house with my other characters. Yeah... Upon realizing that, I think every DLC is worth getting. For roleplay reasons, it's going to make my game last a very long time.

I'm still not sold for the Spell Tomes and Horse Armour however. Let's see if things change.

Thanks a lot for the answers, guys.

Spell Tomes and Horse Armor kind of have to be enabled at the start of a playthrough to get the most value out of them, sadly.

Trying to remember from all those years ago is fuzzy, but I distinctly remember loving that Fighter's Stronghold.
