Favorite Main Series Elder Scrolls Game?
Just as the title says; what is your favorite main series Elder Scrolls title? (i.e. one with a number)
My favorite is Skyrim, with Morrowind coming second. I love the ease of use of Skyrim, and the atmosphere in Morrowind is fantastic.

Re: Favorite Main Series Elder Scrolls Game?
I... can't really have a favorite. All three 3D games have given me so much enjoyment...
Umm...
I guess I'd have to choose one, right? Well, my Steam Library shows FAR more hours put into Skyrim, but out of all of them, the first (and only one so far) that I'm doing a Let's Play of is Oblivion. And Oblivion was my first Elder Scrolls game, it got me into the series, and I've put in relatively few mods that have made it even more enjoyable...
So I guess I'll go with Oblivion.

Oh for the love of little green tomatoes...

Oblivion. I wanna like Morrowind but I just haven't vested the time, so it's Oblivion hands down for me.
Re: Favorite Main Series Elder Scrolls Game?
Morrowind, the atmosphere is just so immersive compared to Skyrim, where it feels like a real world, and Oblivion, a generic fantasy setting.

I go for Oblivion. I know it's rather generic if compared with the alien atmosphere of Morrowind, but Oblivion was my first ES game.

Morrowind hands dooowwwnnn. I just love it's atmosphere. I also love Morrowinds night sky, it's absolutely beautiful. I like the sky way better than Oblivions sky, but I like Oblivions night sky as well.

Wow. I was seriously expecting Morrowind to take the cake.

Skyrim. It's the only one I've played.

Oblivion for me. Haven't gotten to play Morrowind yet and Skyrim had letdowns in my favorite parts.

I may be biased, but Skyrim.

Skyrim, then Morrowind, then Oblivion.
I've put far to many hours into Skyrim for it to not be my favourite game. If I could have played Skyrim for minimum wage I could have retired by now.
I've played Morrowind through once and I still preferred it to the several playthroughs I've done in Oblivion.

Re: Favorite Main Series Elder Scrolls Game?
When earth is sundered, and skies choked black,
And sleepers serve the seven curses,
To the hearth there comes a stranger,
Journeyed far 'neath moon and star.
Though stark-born to sire uncertain,
His aspect marks his certain fate.
Wicked stalk him, righteous curse him.
Prophets speak, but all deny.
Many trials make manifest
The stranger's fate, the curses' bane.
Many touchstones try the stranger.
Many fall, but one remains.

Monsters are bred in labyrinths, labyrinths are bred from walls. There is a reason the Giants choose to remain nomadic rather than follow their shield kin the Nords in building permanent settlements. The Tower is the beginning of all walls.

I like every Elder Scrolls game more than the last.

Morrowind seems to be the popular option, and I can understand why. I really like all of the games in the series, but Morrowind is in a league of its own.

Oblivion: seemed more of a "complete" fantasy, the scenery looked and felt a bit fuller, and I liked most of the quest lines a fair bit more than Skyrim's. However, Skyrim is a very close second, for me.

Oblivion's my favorite with Skyrim as a close second. Then Daggerfall, then Arena, then Morrowind.
Oblivion's just so... Complete. Enthralling. I don't know just what it is about that game, but stepping in just to explore to your hearts' content it just so fulfilling there. If I could play Oblivion with Skyrim's character models and a dual wielding mechanic, I could die happy.

Re: Favorite Main Series Elder Scrolls Game?
It's probably pure nostalgia, but that moment you finally step out of the sewers into your first ray of sunshine and looking out at your first Ayleid ruin is probably one of the best in all the series.Unionhack wrote:Oblivion's my favorite with Skyrim as a close second. I have to pick Oblivion because it was my first Elder Scrolls game, so it has a special place it my heart. I have spent so many hours playing that game.

Re: Favorite Main Series Elder Scrolls Game?
This is a really hard choice. Morrowind was my first, and the lore in it is so deep and amazing. Oblivion has such a cool storyline and while it may be generic fantasy, there was something comforting about that, and I loved so many characters and plots in it. Skyrim, though... Dragons! Dragons, man. And I love the setting, all frost and wintery. I liked the story, the quests, the war... And so that's the one I'm going to go for, though it is such a hard choice to make.

The list goes like this:
Skyrim
Oblivion
Arena/Daggerfall
...
...
...
Morrowind.
Bear in mind I haven't even played Arena and Daggerfall, but I'm sure they're better than Morrowind.

Re: Favorite Main Series Elder Scrolls Game?
It's not that I hate Morrowind, its just that it feels like a chore sometimes. I don't find it has aged well. Sometimes simplification is a good thing. Still, that first playthrough sticks with you, man.

Morrowind, just because of the scenery, the different approach to a Fantasy landscape, architecture, and culture.
I loved the House Redoran main city.
