I have been playing Oblivion but I am stuck at a certain stage of the main quest. I have searched the internet for help but I can't find anything useful. I don't know how to speak to Jauffre at Cloud Ruler Temple about spies. The option does not appear when I start a conversation with him or anyone else at Cloud Ruler Temple. I also cannot get Martin to tell me anything about how to retrieve the Amulet of Kings. He keeps telling me that he is still studying the Mysterium Xarxes.

Try talking to every Blade in there. I think I had to talk to one of the Blades, but not sure which one. Its been years since I did that quest.

Did you try waiting outside CRT? Martin says to give him a couple of days at one point, and if you try to gt the next quest from him too soon he will say what he told you.
A possible reason for this is that after you get the MX, the probablity of gates opening up doubles, so the game developers may want you to go out and be a hero for a couple of days to experience the added fear of Dooms Day approaching.

I don't think so. As soon as Martin gets the Xarxes, he will tell you that there is a problem with spies. Do you have any mod installed?

If Spies is not in Jauffre's list of topics, I don't know what to tell you.
Maybe try talking to Captain Steffan or Burd.
Steffan can be found patrolling the grounds of Cloud Ruler Temple.
Burd can usually be found in the Bruma Castle Barracks.
Also the "few days." Martin says is meaningless. He'll figure out what you should do next as soon as you complete the Quest: Spies.

I have closed about 4 Oblivion gates and completed several other quests since I saved Martin and took him to Clound Ruler Temple but nobody has told me about any spies at the temple. Could the problem be due to a bug? I have not installed the official or unofficial patch. I was unable to install the official patch because I have a later edition of Oblivion. Should I install the unofficial patch? I have version 1.2.0146 of Oblivion.

I've never installed Unofficial Oblivion Patch and I've never had any kind of bugs or problems. Listen, since from your profile I see that you play on pc, type this into the console: setstage MQ07 20.(I took the questcode and the stage from here:www.uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion:Spies)
