I think Hideo Kojima has said that Escape from New York is one of his favourite films thus the name Snake being used for all Snakes in the Metal Gear franchise and Pliskin.

If this is true then I like Metal Gear even more than I used to which I previously thought was physically impossible.

Ha ha, this is so true! Though saving money and always having better computer specs than is needed is good, it is lonely when you're completely out of date with all the hype surrounding the game.

I just finished playing Riven, the sequel to Myst which I think is from about 1997 or thereabouts. They are so old that it's actually a hindrance having a newer pc.

When you log into the site, you have the opportunity to "hide your online status" during that visit. Your username will not appear as being "online," but you still have access to everything you normally do when logged in. When people do this, they are displayed as one of a number of "hidden users." This is useful for people like the mods who may not have time to interact with people, but want to check things, and it avoids the hassle of seeing someone online, sending them a message, and then they are off. I suppose people could use it for other reasons, to truly hide from users, but that's the most common use that I know.

Kojima is also quite fond of David Bowie, it's probably why Major Tom is called Major Tom. Shame it looks like Silent Hills is going to be cancelled or if not cancelled crap due to him leaving Konami.

If that's true then cool. I didn't know that. But what's the movie Escape from New York about? I've never watched it. I was watching Escape from L.A. last night. Which is a pretty good movie.

Snake Plissken is sent to New York (Manhattan specifically, I think?), and he has to rescue the president after air force one crashes, or something like that. Basically, he needs to escape from New York.

It's the original. Escape from L.A. was made 15 years later.

"Ice Road Truckers, what happens on that one?"
"Guys drive on ice."

The president gets kidnapped by ninjas and only Kurt Russell is a bad enough dude to rescue him.

A Hideo Kojima Silent Hill would have been both interesting and amazing. Sadly, it looks like Kojima will be cutting all ties with Konami after MGS5 is out or is moving away from them to focus on something else. :( That said, we probably would have a 5 hour ending for it followed by several plot twists and 230 hours of cutscenes.

Ah, ok. I might need to watch that one too one day. I got the movie for free. I friend gave it to me cause he didn't want it.

I was just curious about it. :)

On the topic of Silent Hills being cancelled or not: I'm just as curious to see what a Kojima Silent Hill game would be like, but I wouldn't be overtly upset if it ends up not happening. Silent Hill has been over since #4, let it die, please. Please. .

It's nice having to go back and download an older driver... Especially when the internet is being slow.
Normally I wouldn't do this, but apparently the newest Nvidia driver isn't agreeing with my Skyrim. Translucent things everywhere. Frost Trolls, plants... It's annoying.
Edit: Apparently it's the transparency AA setting. If it's on multisample, it'll break things like the trolls and the plants. I'm still keeping the older driver I downloaded around in case this one has other issues.

The dog is being annoying, too. Anybody want an untrained Rottweiler? She's free. All you have to do is train her. And have her spayed... Gods, I hate this dog.

I feel like that's an unfair joke to make, considering cutscenes are more of an MGS-specific trope than a Kojima thing.

I disagree. I love Hidoe Kojima as a story writer but a majority of his story telling ability is done via cutscenes. That said, he and his team did write Revegance so he may be leaning towards merging his narrative with gameplay instead of long cutscenes. :) I do hope i can get MGS5 on launch though as it will be excellent and fufill the missing part where Big Boss turns into a right [&@%!].

PC master race, I can't wait to play MGSV with the dankest graphics in town.

I think I'll even buy a new monitor just so the game will be prettier.

When i eventually get a gaming PC(hopefully within the next year or so), i'll probably won't pick up MGS 5 and just keep the PS3 version. I do intend on getting all TES(main) games and ESO along with Knights of the Old Republic, the Old Republic, Dragon age(again), Witchers 1-3, Fallouts 1,2,Tatics,3 and NV.(Not risking F1 and 2 on my laptop). And generally any game that appeals to me.(apart from any game from Fromsoftware to avoid "YOU [&@%!]!" Punch, punch, crap, i need a new mouse/monitor/house
