Alduin's Bane quest: When I read the Elder Scroll at the Time Wound, nothing happens. No blinding flash, no time travel, nada. I can, however, back out of the inventory normally, as if I was reading a normal book.
The internet is curiously silent about this particular glitch. Maybe a one-time thing? Lucky me. (360)

Re: Elder Scroll is a dud
You mean the game opens the Scroll just as if it were a normal book?
Are you sure you aren't using one of the Scrolls added by Dawnguard?
However, in this link http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Alduin%27s_Bane is listed the bug you found (with a possible workaround).

Re: Elder Scroll is a dud
Not exactly. All animation and sound stop when I "read" the Elder Scroll. (The animation sequence doesn't even advance far enough to show the opened Scroll or my hands on the screen. I simply have a view of the normal scenery at the Throat of the World, with snowflakes and snowy wind gusts frozen and motionless.) It looks and behaves like a game freeze/lock up, except I can press the "Back" button and the game returns to the Inventory Screen, as if I had closed the Scroll. And when I exit out of the Inventory Screen, everything is normal.
I play almost exclusively in First Person view. I'll go back and try reading the Scroll in Third Person view, just on the slim chance that a different viewpoint might make a difference to the animation.
I have also visited the Throat of the World once before with the Scroll in my inventory. I had to fetch some Unmelting Snow to fix the White Phial. On that occasion, Paarthurnax began speaking about the Scroll and the Time Wound, but I ignored him because I was there on other business. It's possible that not using the Scroll when Paarthurnax gave the quest-related dialogue gimped things up somehow.

Re: Elder Scroll is a dud
I don't think it matters if you play in first or in third person. I've completed the main quest many times and I never used third person, except to have a better view on new armors when I've got one.
On the White Phial I can't really say. Always had the quest on my Quest Log, but I've never been interested in it.
Try to speak to Paarthurnax about Elder Scrolls. I don't think developers would make such a mistake, but in a large game such Skyrim it could be.
Edit: I searched on the net, some seems to have the same problem as you, but they were on pc, so they used console commands. Some others who have a similar bug (they remained stuck during the cutscene) say you need to travel to Winterhold, read the Scroll and wait for 24h, and finally return to the Throat of the World to read the Scroll in the Time Wound.

Re: Elder Scroll is a dud
Thanks for the info. I'll try the Winterhold thing, but I'm busy on Soltsheim right now, and it might be a while before I pick up the Main Quest again. However it turns out, I'll post the results here.
Just to clarify, do you have to be in a specific location in the settlement of Winterhold, or in the College of Winterhold?

Re: Elder Scroll is a dud
From what I read, there is no need to be in a specific location.
