Music Volume resets itself

Anyone run into this issue? I haven't bothered saying anything in the forum about it because google revealed a ton of issues, but is there a simple fix?

Basicaly, the music sets itself to volume level 55 , I can go to options and set it to 25 or whatever, but then the next time I start the game (PC version) it's back on 55 again....

I've had roughly the same problem, but it's because my game periodically "shuts down" wrong, and rather than just going back to the desktop after quitting, I get the little "Oblivion has stopped working" notice. It doesn't affect the game, but it does keep my settings from saving.
