Can I Re-Become a Vampire Lord?

Post by Maintrain97 »

As a forenote, I am running Skyrim with all three DLCs on PS3

I am a ways into the Dawnguard Vampire and the Companions quest and I've reached the point where I must be a werewolf to progress in the Companions questline. I want to move on in the questline but I do not want to permanently lose my vampire lord abilities. If I become a werewolf, will I have the opportunity to become a vampire lord once more?

Yes, I believe you can, provided you are on the side of the Vampires, which I'll assume you are. Harkon should offer to turn you back, obviously you will no longer be a Werewolf. I also remember only being able to do this once (Don't quote me on this though) so if you cure yourself twice he may no longer offer to turn you back. I hope that's of use, and welcome to the forum!

you don't need to be on the side of the vampires. Serana will turn you back if you're far enough into the story line. If you passed on becoming a vampire early on in the quests you'll be offered it again as a way to get past a certain obstacle. Serana will also offer it at any time at the end of the Dawnguard questline.

So if I understand you correctly, If I go through and finish the Dawnguard Vampire questline and then become a werewolf for the companions questline, I will be able to return to castle Volkihar after I finish the companions questline to become a vampire lord once more?

Spoiler:
the dawnguard questline offers 2 points during the main quest to grant vampirism. From Harkon when you bring Serana to the castle. From Serana when you're about to attempt entering Coldharbour. and then from Serana at any time after the completion of the questline.

Also Harkon will regrant it at least once, I think, if you're still advancing through the questline and were alligned with the vampires.

You can become a vampire and get cured as many times as you like. You can only be a werewolf twice, though.

You can become a Vampire Lord as many times as you want, and cure it infinitely thanks to Rising at Dawn being repeatable.

I'm planning to test this sometime soon:

Anybody else tried it?

Nobody? It's also detailed here: http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Glitche ... Werewolves

Basically, it allows you to retain the Vampire Lord lesser power in addition to being a werewolf. It does not allow you to be a vampire and a werewolf simultaneously. In fact, by my testing, the only remaining base vampire trait that is not directly related to the VL form is 100% disease resistance (which makes me wonder if it stacks with Beast Blood); no vampire spells, no feeding ability, and no sun damage. Perk trees for both are still available, though I thought maybe progress was impeded (instead, I had erroneously believed that Raise Dead contributed to perks - I have another method I want to test more).

So, to the OP, yes, Serana can make you a vamp again, OR you can exploit this timing glitch and have the BEAST of both bloods.
