Oblivion Merchant creation

I have created several merchants in Oblivion, and they work fine, except for one thing. They do not delete any old merchandise I sold them during the game. After a while, the transaction time becomes ridiculously long due to this (I assume this is the reason, as they are overwhelmed in 'for sale' items), and I cannot use them very well any more. Anyone know how to make them delete old stuff you sold them after a few days?

Try looking at some other merchants items to see when they have that makes them disappear and copy it.
I've never tried it but that's my best guess.
