Have you guys seen the reactions to the AH guys' latest prank video, the "FIFA World Cup" prediction LP? It has the highest dislike-to-like ratio I've ever seen on any RT video. Of course, it seems like the majority of people are fine about it - personally, I enjoy (and regularly watch) both types of football, and after watching the full video, it's easy to see that the guys are just joking around innocently. I got some good laughs out of it, just as I would out of any AH video.

However, I can understand why some people became [&@%!] off; this kind of thing can very easily be taken the wrong way. I still get a little twinge of annoyance whenever Geoff disses hockey, even though I know he's only joking, so it's not hard to see why some people would overreact if they thought that AH made an entire video just insulting soccer. Still, though, they need to lighten up and see that it's just a comedy video. I actually think this kind of idea would work well if used again, maybe for a reverse Super Bowl prediction using FIFA like I've seen some people suggesting.

AKB, how was RTX? I'm setting aside money to go next year, since had I gone this year, I would have been flat broke coming out of it. Seems like a cool experience though. What panels did you attend, and did you get an opportunity to meet anyone?

Epic, I had watched the video when it came out. Honestly, it took me about a minute into the video to realize they were not actually playing FIFA, and then I laughed my ass off. I just wasn't properly paying attention and realized something was up after a minute. The rest of it I thought was mediocre, but the joke was good and I think people are just morons for taking offense. Plain and simple.

So, I've had these posters for a while, but only had the Extra Life poster hung up. Now, I finally managed to get them all up and fill up this one wall in my room. Ta-da:

Here's a really long recap of the event SINCE YOU ASKED FOR IT:

Day Before RTX: Go karting with Jack Patillo.

This was a real treat, considering that there were seven thousand people at RTX. Jack arranged a charity event the day before, which also doubled as a meet and greet with the fans. However, only a few hundred people knew about it as it was only advertised through Jack's Rooster Teeth account (that I know of, I didn't see any mention of it anywhere else), so almost every RT personality I met, I met there. I got to meet Jack (one of the nicest people you'll ever meet, he was so cool), #DantheMan (who also also really cool and likable in person, he showed me the scar got on his ear) and Gavin Free (which was really lucky, considering he was simply the busiest person at RTX by number of events he had to attend). I would have tried to say hi to Michael or Lindsey, but they stood together so there was far too much of a crowd to see them easily. They didn't anticipate that many people going to the go karting, so Jack claimed that they'd organize it better next time, which is nice considering it was for charity.

So my first recommendation would be to get to the Austin early so you can both do early registration (the opening day line is hellish if you're not even ready to go to a floor or panel), and because go karting was both fun and less crowded than the main event.

Day One of RTX: I got really lucky with my timing of events. I managed to basically wander right into the ballroom line for RVB about forty minutes before the show started, and somehow found myself in the front row anyway. This was done on the suggestion of Matt Hullum, who I met through his autograph line. He was a super cool guy, and his autograph line wasn't super rushed even though he had to go to the RVB panel himself shortly after I talked to him. I also met Kerry, who signed my Gavin on my AH boy band poster twice (once on the crotch (labeled Kerry 1) and once on his face (labeled Kerry 2)), while Matt signed Ray's crotch (both of their choices of crotch signatures were their own, by the way). As for why I took AH boy band, it was literally the first poster I saw in the store when I bought one to bring with me. I am not picky.

As a tip for the autograph lines, DO NOT TRY TO DO AH LINES. I didn't, and for good reason. Not only do you only get an autograph due to how crowded they are, but AH tends to attract their worse fans. It is not fun sitting in a line with AH fans for two hours, the [&@%!] train gets old after a while.

So the RVB panel was really nice, particularly since I got to see the newest episode early. As a suggestion, I would try to only go to one ballroom a day, unless you like just sitting in spot all day. As I said, I managed to get pretty lucky with my timings, but most people sat in those lines for at least two hours, with people preparing for those lines much earlier than that.

Then someone pulled the fire alarm and it all went to [&@%!]. It was fun seeing RT people trying to entertain the crowd, but it really [&@%!] a ton of people off.

Day Two: I was less focused on anything in particular. I believe I saw Retsupurae today who were really funny. I also went to the Immersion ballroom show (which was a monstrous line that I once again managed to wander towards the front of at just the right moment to save myself most of the wait). It was a really enjoyable day. I also got an Umbreon plushy from a vendor, an RTX shirt, a Team Lads slap band, a poster, and some skittles (which were really, really tasty! First thing of pure junk food I have had in months at that time).

Day Three: I was pretty exhausted at this point, so I just saw a few panels and left. I got into the RT Recap panel, and found my way into the RTX Recap Video. You can see me at some point or another. I also went to Community Hunters, which was the much better alternative to the Achievement Hunter Panel. It was nice seeing the newly hired Achievement Hunters, Caleb, and Ray in a much less crowded environment.

So that was it for me, I had a ton of fun, met some of my favorite people, and got some nice stuff in the process. I then proceeded to have the most painful drive home imaginable, as I went through painful organ failure for about one thousand miles of the trip back before I got to the hospital (don't worry, I'm perfectly fine now). Kind of marred the experience, since my memories of the affair are behind a wall of morphine on both sides. But I am going back next year, if future events are permitting.

Sounds like an... interesting trip, AKB! Walls of morphine not withstanding, your actual RTX experience sounds like a blast, save for the [censored] who pulled the fire alarm. I remember seeing some stuff about that on Twitter. Going to RTX is definitely on my "things to do in the future" list; I've never been to any conventions/expos before, and while I can't exactly see myself wanting to go over and over again, I think it'd be fun to do once or twice for the experience.

Anyone watching the second "Volume" of RWBY? Episode Chapter 2 just came out last night, and I think I'm going to keep watching for the time being. While it's second to RvB in terms of how much I enjoy and look forward to watching it, and even though anime isn't exactly my style, it's still a fun show to watch and I'm interested to see what happens down the road.

I have some stuff to say about the recent developments in RvB but I don't feel like typing anything else out right now, so I'll wait until after Monday's episode to post more about it.

I am enjoying RWBY much more this season than the last one. Their whole approach to the show is just better in every way.

Sounds like a cool experience AKB. A lot of good info for future event goers, which is always nice. I'm extremely jealous of you, not only for getting to attend, but for meeting Matt. If I could only pick a single person (and I would never have the opportunity to meet anyone else) at RT/AH to meet and talk to for a couple of minutes, it would be Mr. Hullum. He isn't the most visible guy at the companies, but Sarge is and will always be my favorite character and I just want to meet and thank the man behind the voice.

In other news, I fell behind in watching this season of RVB, so I'm going to wait now until the season ends and binge watch them. I need to rewatch RWBY Volume 1 before I start this season, but I just haven't been able to find time.

So I couldn't wait any longer and binged and caught up on Season 12. And holy [&@%!], I'm so angry I haven't been watching because this is some of the best work I've ever seen in a season of RvB. It's late and I'm tired after catching up, but I'll just say, I'm glad that characters that were missing are back, glad for super awesome Jack references, and my new favorite voice actors are now Ray and Michael. They need to do more things together. I wish they were better friends.

I know, right? I had my doubts at the beginning, but those were well and truly erased. From the face of the entire earth. Laughs, thrills, and chills delivered without fail so far, and it's saddening to think that there are only a couple more episodes remaining of the season. Although the last couple episodes have relegated the majority of the Blood Gulch crew (especially Sarge, to my disappointment) to just standing around with the occasional quip, I have no doubt that the end of the season will balance that out well enough. I no longer even have any concerns about when/how Doc will come back.

RWBY has been good too, the story is developing well and I continue to love Roman Torchwick. The animation, while not perfect, remains an improvement over last season, and there's now a startling amount of meat on the barebones plot we started out with.

As for the Achievement Hunters, I haven't been watching much of them as I frankly don't have time to sit down for a 45-minute Let's Play any more at the moment. One more thing, though, which is cool: last night at a family reunion, I found out that my 7-year old-cousin watches the Slow Mo Guys. Definitely one of the high points of the night. :P

See, I switched to primarily watching the AH guys do their thing. I'd rather get behind on the shorter shows like RvB or RWBY that I can binge and catch up with in a couple of hours, rather than fall behind and need 3 days to catch up on Let's Plays. An LP is a great relaxer when I get home from work or class, and is the perfect length. I can grab a bite to eat and throw on an LP before starting my reading or paper writing or whatever.

I really love their podcasts as well. I have an hour and a half drive, one way, to class and so the RT podcast is a great companion to me. I intentionally backlog them over the summer so that I have material enough for the first couple of weeks of the drive. With The Patch, and now Screen Play, I have enough material to get me through the week. I do miss some of the visual comedy they do on the set since I only consume it via audio, but it's well worth it in my mind.

The Patch is more of a news podcast than an entertainment one like RTP. Not as fun listening to in the car as it is listening to any old, essentially timeless podcast. I know, I just spent a good portion of the summer listening to Geoff and Burnie bicker while partially unconscious.

True, but The Patch still provides that RT flair that other news casts don't. And I'm assuming you're referencing the old Drunk Tank podcasts, which are on my list of things to check out. I've only been listening to the RT podcast for like a year and a half-2 years, so I want to go back and catch up on the really old episodes.

This is just something I want to mention because whenever I see it, I double take. You know that giant fish pillow that the AH guys have in their office? I own the same kind of fish pillow, before they did even. I was actually going to send it in to their office, because I thought they'd like it, when they got it for themselves. It's such a little thing, but I feel slightly cooler for determining an office prop they'd like before they had it.

Joking. Where does one happen to get a fish pillow like that? Also, I've been watching the Extra Life Stream all day (13.5 hours as of this post), and they just released this picture a few minutes ago:

I wasn't prepared for what was under that tag. No really, I had to walk away from my computer for a minute.

Anyway, is anyone buying the poster? I'm kinda on the fence about it. On one hand, I'm nearly broke. On the other, its for charity...

I already bought the poster. I have last year's Extra Life poster and the Operation Supply Drop poster from earlier this year, so I'd like to keep the collection going. If you're on the fence, I don't think I can sway you either way, but I'd say get it. It's cheap enough that, even though I don't know your financial situation, I don't think it will break the bank. As you said, it's for charity, and it's a great way to donate and feel a sense of getting something for your money (which I don't think is a bad feeling, it's a tangible reminder that you donated).

Monty was one of my favorite members of the RT staff, and I was truly saddened when I heard the news a few days ago. I hoped he would recover, but let's all do our best of honoring the memory of one of the coolest animators ever.
Matt wrote: As for honoring Monty, we will do that in our own way. In lieu of flowers or gifts, we ask that you simply do something creative. Use your imagination to make the world a better place in any way that you can. If you know Monty like we do, then you know he would certainly be doing that if he were able to.
What do you guys intend to do? Monty was one of the most dedicated workers at RT, I remember hearing him described as the kind of person who would hit 55 seconds on a microwave instead of one minute due to it being quicker, just so he could go back to work that much sooner. If you have any projects you've been putting off, now is a good time to return to them with the same gusto Monty would have shown them.

I started putting my portfolio of all my work together in honor of Monty. It's something I've been putting off, and this was a sort of wake up call. When I get the time sometime soon, I'm going to give RWBY a rewatch, as I'm sure many others will be doing.

Tonight was the first time I think I've ever watched the Podcast live (I usually listen to the audio during my drive) and it was extremely touching. Gus, Burnie, Matt, and Gray talking about Monty and reflecting on fond memories and then at the end they had a wonderful tribute video.
