Cave Interior

The battle raged between the Deadra and the Troll as Arellius and his companions continued to look on. It did seem the Deadra was winning: the Troll was now engulfed in the blistering flames; its cries had become more high-pitched and anguished - a weaker individual might have sympathised with it. It was as the beast looked near-finished that the Deadra raised his blade to apply the finishing blow. He brought the sword up before swiping at an angle that looked sure to catch the Troll at its nape.

It made it to within inches.

In an act of desperation the Troll grasped its beastly hand around the blade. It yowled as pain swept through it before using the leverage to pull its opponent closer and deliver a savage blow to its head with his own. The fire went out - the group relapsed into blindness. For the next several moments anything could have happened: it was quieter than it had been prior. It was with a sudden roar followed by a loud crack that events came back into focus for them: the Deadra careered into the cavern wall a foot from their position - visible at such a distance he bled heavily from his face, though despite that still seemed alive; he emitted a weak groan of despair.

The sound of the Troll advancing could be heard at the same time. Niralie and Valentia could just see Arellius' hand begin to drop for his own blade.

Niralie - Cave

There was no way the Dremora would miss seeing them at that distance; it was time for them to act. The Dremora, being closest, was the more urgent threat: Niralie drew her own blade, and struck at its neck/head - one of the few exposed places it had - before attempting to scramble backward, trying to get out of its range, casting a light spell so that they could see.

Shore with the mercs
Kelessa had the same idea as the redguard, with added shouting. Her foot was to get in under the chest. "Hey, Arkay's codpiece! You alive you Daedra sucker?!" She was.. quite loud, and not at all gentle.

he'd still probably feel it, it is a bound daedra after all, but I digress. At this very moment he's still not paying attention. So we are assuming Nandrnil is within sight of this or is he perhaps around the bend of the cavern due to his use of candlelight? I'll wait for a DM input before saying anything

I'd presumed he was just around the bend, otherwise there was a chance Troll might have spotted the flickering of his candlelight and attacked. It also makes it easier for me if he's just around the bend because it acts as rationale for why the group didn't see him from the onset - before I was aware there'd even be candlelight.

If he was to get curious and glance out then he wouldn't see anything between the point where the fire-spell ends and Niralie casts (I'm presuming) candle-light on herself.

I have no idea about him 'feeling' what his bound Dremora was up to; though that might just be piece of lore I managed to miss.

I mean to say that in being bound he'd privably sense something along the lines of the status of the dremora, it doesn't really matter in any case as he is not focused on it and I doubt it would exactly be a strong sense. Any who that would be more in the event of the dremora's death

Deck.

A feather spell briefly shone from the Altmer's hand, before being dismissed as he too squatted to move the mast.

Sorry, Internet connection is being a pain...

He would definitely notice the Dremora's return to Oblivion on defeat, (an assumption here, but a logical one) the events of how said Dremora ended up in the cave determine whether he would notice the immediate events causing said Dremora's return. Typical quick summon and you wouldn't care for it, a long term/permanent binding ritual of some sort or a willing bond of service (nearly unheard of but theoretically plausible) and you would notice at least some discomfort.
Essentially, no wrong answer here for whether he notices the Dremora in battle or not from the perspective of the actual dremora's quality of life.

On Deck

It might have been difficult for the pair to lift the mast had Mauzol not appeared by their side and aided.

With the weight gone, Psyfalia could commence her treatment. Her already weakened condition meant she never had much to give - and the magical infusion left here feeling woozy with exhaustion. It did at first seem like the magic had been ineffective. However moments later it did seem like Raylis began to stir. The shutter's of his flickers weakly, though his expression remained entirely blank. With a look to his face the dramatic flaring of his nasal passages soon came into focus. Signs of his resumed breathing might have been a cause of celebration if not for the weirdness: opening widely and with short pauses between, it didn't look healthy at all.

Shore

The Argonian let out a dull groan at the Redguard's first kick; twitching slightly, it's eyes seemed to open slightly.

That's when the Breton's kick landed: the groaning became a cry of pain.

"Gods sake, he's alive, you idiot." The Redguard's shook her head disapprovingly .

Valentia Rumare - Cave

Valentia could scarcely breathe. First a daedra, and now an angry troll. She had wondered why the thing hadn't tried to finish the downed daedra off, but she scarcely had time to ponder it.

With no other option, knowing that invisibility would scarcely help her at the moment, Valentia thrust her hands forward. "Watch it!" she shouted as she loosed a stream of flames from her palms, draining her already strained stamina.

Cave Interior - Main Cavern

The Dremora died instantly as blade was driven through it's skull. Or at least Niralie was pretty certain it had. It didn't die like normal. Rather it evaporated: it's mass erupting into a shower of dark ember-like particles which remained visible a moment before disappearing from view. However there was no time to ponder the curious case of the exploding Dremora, the Troll could be heard to be nearing.

Niralie's light went up as it was within bare metres of their group, lighting up the space for five metres about here. At that moment it might have seemed strange why Arellius quickly shifted himself out of the light: sword drawn, he'd moved at speed out of its embrace. But it must have become clear as the Troll's hulking mass moved at speed in her direction: with the light up, and especially with it centred around here, she had turned herself into a target, entirely visible to the troll; who reacted like a fruit-fly might.

It impacted with a ferocity that sent her at speed into the cavern wall, sword flung from her grasp. Her back impacted with the rock first, ultimately saving her a broken neck or similar, though that did not stop her skull cracking into the wall a split-second later; blood beginning to well up in her hair with almost immediate effect. Dazed, she could only lie there as the Troll looked to advance, the light illuminating her crumpled form. However, it did not get a chance for such, its shape suddenly became consumed with flames as Valentia targeted it with her spell.

Raising its arms to cover it's face, it reeled back; letting out a roar of agony. The roar was amplified by Arellius' reappearance: creeping up behind, he plunged his tanto into the arch of the beasts back. It began swinging its arms wildly, one catching Arellius in the ribs-enough to send him stumbling back clutching a rib - blade still lodged in the thing. But the flames affecting its weakened form ensured that there was no serious counter, with a maddened flaying it begun to hunch in on itself.

Cave Interior - Nandrnil's Tunnel

Nandrnil felt his Dremora return to Oblivion.

However was strange about such was that he could her the fighting continue. If he was wondering what it was, the shout indicated for certain he was not alone.

Not so dead argonian
Kelessa shrugged and gave a laugh, the cry of pain was kind of funny. "Hey, I'm just double checking, could of been wind escaping from the body, but now we know it's alive. So." And she began to turn it over, not touching that with her hands. "What in the name of Dibella's juices are you even doing out here?" She asked, looking down on the Argonian.

Nandrnil's Tunnel

The Altmer scowled. Bandits, or more hunters from the Mage's Guild probably. Nandrnil thought with a shudder of dread. Nandrnil waved his hands, pulling magicka into the air and muttering an arcane spell. Calling for a Golden Saint, he attempted to summon the daedra from Oblivion.

On Deck

Sees-In-Shade remained squatting next to the mast as he caught his breath and stared at Raylis. As the man started showing signs of life, the Argonian sighed deeply and grabbed a part of a fallen sail. He laid part of it carefully over Raylis' body, and another part he draped around himself to provide some meager cover from the storm.

"And now?" he asked forlornly. "How do we get off the boat?"

Niralie - Cave

Niralie had a moment of grim satisfaction as she sent the Dremora back to Oblivion, but it was quickly replaced by sudden panic as she noticed the troll charging toward her. Before she had any time to react, it had already slammed into her, and pain exploded in the back of her head.

The next thing she was aware of was the feeling of lying on a cold stone floor, and agony in her head. Confused, she shifted in the beginnings of an attempt to get up, but dizziness washed over her and convinced her that the floor was, in fact, the best spot for her for the time being. After a few moments lying there, she became aware of the sounds of fighting nearby, and half opened her eyes to see Valentia and Arellius engaged in combat with the troll -the troll that, she remembered now, had hit her - and she moaned in pain as her head throbbed again. She decided to remain where she was until she felt she had recovered enough to try assessing her injury - she certainly couldn't perform any magic in her current disoriented state, anyway.

Out at sea

Over the waves could be heard a desperate, gulping shout as Per was dragged underwater for the last time. As he struggled to get his head overwater, his life flashed before his eyes. Cold Skyrim winters, long patrols in Solitude. Tense battles though Ayleid ruins and sharing bonfires with his best friends. Doing his damndest to see justice served towards those that had hurt him. He caught a glimpse of a lifeboat far off, and a sort of contentedness fell over him. The frigid water was oddly comfortable. At least he would die on his ancestors' shores. And at least he was out of that Talos-forsaken boat. As his limbs stiffened and the air departed from his lungs, a faint smile passed over his lips. He would see his friends again in Sovngarde.

Valentia Rumare - Cave

Valentia could feel her arms getting tired as the flames continued to erupt from her hands. Knowing she couldn't keep it up for much longer, Tia backed away and let out the last of the jet of flame, hoping Arellius would be able to finish the creature off.

The only thing she could do was to draw a dagger from her belt and hope the troll didn't turn on her.

Cave Interior - Main Cavern

The beasts furious roar became a terrified howling as it remained engulfed in-flamed: paralysed by the sheer pain of the encounter; arms flying all directions in a almost-stupefied rage. It was as Valentia began to tire that Arellius recovered. With his left hand he drew the tanto, maintaining it at a height that didn't-over exert his arm; approached, and then plunged the blade deep into the beast's lower spine; at that same time, with his good hand, he gripped the embedded blade and tore downwards; slicing through the Troll's chunky flesh.

From the front Valentia could see its expression go blank; its roar's died first, and then it collapsed to its knees, and onto its face.

However Arellius could barely be found behind the collapsed figure; it's hulking mass motionless it death, blood still continuing to ooze from it's back wounds. He'd already begun to move swiftly towards the light, calling: "Niralie, y'okay?!" His tone was still gruff though not as utterly dispassionate as it might have usually been.

Cave Interior - Nandrnil's Tunnel

The Summon appeared almost concurrently with the Troll's howls coming to a close, its death. Nandrnil heard Arellius voice echo-out from the main cavern but it didn't seem like enough for the Golden Sinner to react to. The thing remained still, silent, awaiting instruction.

On Shore

"Gerruf me, sssmooth sskin!" the downed-Argonian exclaimed, though the kick he let off lacked the energy of his tone.

The Redguard seemed to agree. She placed a hand on the Breton's shoulder and pushed back, shifting her away from the Argonian and stopping future torment for the time being.

"Give him some room, he's just survived a shipwreck." There was evident frustration in her tone. It became more so clear as she answered the Breton's question. "He's from that ship, isn't it obvious?!"

It looked as if the Redguard was going to continue on the attack but the Argonian interrupted her before she had the chance. "Do we have a healer here?" This came as more a self-defeated croak than anything like the previous outburst.

On Deck

As if the gods above wanted to hammer home Sees-In-Shade's message, the ship rocked viciously as another large wave impacted with it's woodwork, almost causing those to drop the mast.

Raylis didn't react as the mast was placed over his body. The shutters of his eyes had parted slightly, as if he was concious and awake, though the blank, almost-confused expression on his face indicated that if he wasn't there then it was in nothing more than body. However the unhealthy flaring of his nostrils indicated that he was at the very least still breathing.

Nandrnil - Cave Interior

"Slay the Troll, and if the intruders give you trouble destroy them without mercy." Nandrnil said to the Daedra, he grabbed his staff and began to head towards the sounds of battle.

Obviously he would not wait to be taken by a band of Marauders, they would not take him without a fight nor would they forget his presence.

Niralie - Cave

Niralie watched groggily from her spot on the ground as her companions fought the troll. Any minor sympathy she might have had for the creature's pain earlier was certainly gone now.

After it fell, Niralie was somewhat surprised to hear that it was Arellius who was addressing her with something resembling concern. "Ugh... Hit my head hard," she groaned in reply. "Damned troll." She shifted a bit and slowly began to reach her hands up to feel her neck, head, and whatever part of her back she could reach, to check the extent of her injury. Even if she couldn't focus enough for magic yet, it would be good to confirm that it was okay for her to move.

Psyfalia felt woozy and exhausted after casting her spell. She knew that he needed urgent medical treatment and normally, she would make sure that he would stand the best possible chance of avoiding death. However, she was in no condition to preform her duty as a healer and swore under her breath when the wave hit the ship.

Without any magicka or tools, she knew that the chances of saving the dunmer was very low. She believed that his rib cage was broken and the risk of his lungs being punctured was very high. Normally, it would have been a case of intermidate healing magic combined with bandages and rest for the patient. Sadly, she did not have the resources to treat him. "I'm afraid, there is little i can do. I'm out of magicka and lack the resources to treat him. I fear that his ribcage is broken and his lungs are punctured or are at risk of being punctured." There was remorse in her voice and would have given anything to have enough magicka to cast an interimediate spell.
Hidden:
It does sound like it's his ribcage that is the affected area and his lungs are either punctured or at risk of puncturing so moving him is out of the question. I don't really know anything about medicine in general but i am under the impression that most of Tamriel's healers use magic and convential healing to help people instead of purely magic.

"We are little better," Sees-In-Shade croaked. The Argonian bleakly looked around the damp and crippled ship, trying to determine if it would hold on its current position for long, and what kind of shelter and supplies they might have available to recover their strength.

Valentia Rumare - Cave

Valentia backed over to where Niralie was, keeping her back turned to the cave wall just in case something else were to come from within. "You alright?" she asked without making eye contact, still spooked by the troll and alarmed by the daedra that had appeared before.

Arellius Afer III

Arellius gave an internal sigh of relief as the call came back. Dislike the woman as he may he was pragmatic enough to see the use in a healer. However with confirmation that she wasn't in fact dead his attention immediately shifted to more important issues: Where was the summoner? It was a question the gods didn't leave him pondering long. Before he'd even considered the summoner's tone could be heard to echo from somewhere across the cavern:

"Slay the Troll, and if the intruders give you trouble destroy them without mercy."

It came from the black. Whoever the summoner was he was invisible in the darkness.

Nandrnil could clearly see Niralie though. Bright light illuminated her position, on her back on the ground, hands now reaching for her neck; a sitting duck.

---

Niralie's rough examination indicated that nothing was seriously wrong. Or at least that's all she could make out from touch. However feeling around the back of her head left her hand feeling sticky from blood and she still felt quite dazed and disorientated. It wasn't guaranteed that a move to stand on her feet would elicit the wanted results.

On Deck

If Raylis agreed with Psyfalia's diagnosis he made no indication of such. His eyelids had stopped flickering now and had closed. Though the nasal flaring continued.

The boat rocked with the crashing of each wave as Sees-In-Shade commenced what would be a dreary analysis. It was impossible to determine how long the boat would last in its current position: it might be till the morning, it might be the next half hour. However it didn't seem like the last few minutes of rocking had done any noticeable damage. He found no real shelter on deck - except perhaps on the damp sail he sat under. Supplies wise, on deck Sees-In-Shade could visualise strapping together some poor floatation device from the wood and lines littering the deck; the masts also seemed vaguely workable. It also occurred to him that supplies might be found in the now-flooded below deck though it would be a frigid swim.
