Cheydinhal recommendation - can't exit well!

Maybe I'm just an idiot, but how in the world do you get out of that well after getting the ring?
There is no exit!
I swim back up to the ladder where I obviously entered the well, but pressing the activate key does nothing. I receive no prompt either. Jumping does nothing either. I inevitably just drown, stuck.
I get the ring of burden just fine off of the body, and the quest updates, but then .. there's nowhere to go.

I'm about ready to just TCL out of there, but I'm afraid of that causing a glitch.

The ladder should work as the door. Have you tried pressing the activate key while facing that? Otherwise, there is a problem, and console commands might be your friend for this one.

Yes, exactly that. I face the lader, but the activate key doesn't work, no icon even appears (I assume it should)... nothing. I'm just stuck to drown.
And I've realized that toggling no clip won't help here.. so.. I'll have to see if I can use the console to mark that part of the quest as complete.

I was stuck the first time I played because I didn't get it right. I forget what happened exactly, but I think I was touching too low. You may have to "Touch" the second rung on the ladder.

Ah, found it! Yeah, it was a really small area that triggered the icon. Like, a few pixels. Finally!
