Silly tip for saving games

Post by Chicken Slayer »

I may be stating the obvious, but it has taken me a couple thousand hours of game time for this idea to hit me.

Dang I lost the piece of paper that had my save notes on it. Alchemy to the rescue!

Potion name [--You have +7 endurance points, 3 strength]
Potion name [--Need statues from Welke, Mackametain, Fanacas]
Potion name [--Used 3 training]
Potion name [--Need cheap wine for Namira]

(I start all my custom potions, spells, etc. with a dash to put them at the top of the list. A double dash puts these notes on top of them.)

Next week, how to walk and chew gum at the same time...

I don't understand what you mean. How are the potions connected to the game saves?

It is a way to leave yourself in-game notes before walking away from the character/game for an unknown length of time.

Here's one from the old days: leaving a named potion sitting at the entrance to a dungeon for later reference. What kind of enemies, traps, treasures and whatnot.
Baurus: Our job is to get the Emperor out of situations like this. Though I'll admit, things aren't going exactly to plan.

Casandra: At the moment, the deadliest weapon at my disposal is a goblin's head on a stick. I'd be worried if this was the plan.

I need one that says "only 198 hours until Abomb"...
His name was Emer Dareloth.

Trade you. I need one that says, "Only 3-5 hours until A-Bomb."
Eh. At least it can be reset.

Honestly, though, I never considered using in-game notes with potions. Mostly because I prefer using my notepad (it's a big thing I keep on the side of my desk. Can't lose that). If I did use in-game notes, I'd probably forget about them. The notepad was useful to remember what skills/attributes Seryna needed to level. It also contains a list of certain console commands (the one I use most frequently being fw 38eee to get rid of the constant snowstorms that Enhanced Weather has during the 'winter' months. Doesn't matter if you're in Bruma or Leyawiin. It just snows all the time) and item codes.

I usually play with a legal pad turned sideways with the skill sets written in across the top, but recently I've been trying to play "naturally" with the game's made characters. I don't like them much so I'm playing lazy.
