Keys to Brellach and Dementia
I opted to go down the Mania route when I started the Shivering Isles.
Does this preclude me totally from exploring the other side of things now I have finished the main quest?
I don't really want to go back through and do it all again - I've deleted all of the saves anyway.
So can you use the Console to obtain the necessary keys?

I have not played Shivering Isles much because it is too creepy and depressing, but as I recall you can go from side to side at New Sheoth. Bliss in in Mania and the stinky sewer town is in Dementia, just walk out the gates to the sunny or gloomy countryside... or are you talking about the Golden Saints vs Dark Seducer's strongholds?

Re: Keys to Brellach and Dementia
You can give yourself the Brellach key (or just unlock the door) if you wanna explore it. No idea what you mean about the Key to Dementia though. You get that off the first Gatekeeper.

Re: Keys to Brellach and Dementia
Sorry, made a bit of an error there!
The only reason I mentioned that was because I came up in the Dementia Private Gardens, (from I think Xirethard - I might be mistaken), and couldn't get out again. I read up on it and found out I was actually trapped, so I should have made a save.
Reading up on Brellach, it seems that if you have gone down the Mania route and had to do Pinnacle Rock, Brellach is totally inaccessible, even after you have completed everything.
If you have an idea how to get in let me know, I'd be interested to give it a go!

Use the console. You've proven to us all that you're addicted to the damned thing a dozen times over in a dozen other threads you've made over this same sort of problem. Anyone else who has used this as often as you have would have learned enough about the console to work these things out for themselves.
Baurus: Our job is to get the Emperor out of situations like this. Though I'll admit, things aren't going exactly to plan.
Casandra: At the moment, the deadliest weapon at my disposal is a goblin's head on a stick. I'd be worried if this was the plan.

I have looked it up quite extensively in the hope that I could find a code for the a key to get into Brellach but it seems there ain't one!legoless wrote:You can give yourself the Brellach key (or just unlock the door) if you wanna explore it. It is becoming apparent that access to this area is actually denied unless you have elected to go down the route of Dementia as against Mania. It appears that once you have made that decision access to most (but apparently not all), of the converse areas are closed down.
So no keys!

Have I done something to upset you?
I feel I have done nothing be but be pleasant, polite and hopefully in some instances lighthearted. I have tried to be reasonable in my approach. Perhaps I have been somewhat "over-enquiring", but having come from a PS3 background into the PC format, it is all a bit new to me! Before this game, I never knew it was possible to gain access and change things from within. I decided to go PC because of the "A-Bomb Glitch" and haven't really looked back since.
I am nearly 60 years old. I retired several years ago on grounds of ill-health. I was a senior design engineer in the aerospace industry working with various computer aided design systems. I certainly don't think that IT should be off limits to the elderly and only a domain for the younger members of society. I used to enjoy mentoring younger and sometimes more academically qualified would be designers. It shouldn't be a problem for the generations to feel free and able to exchange knowledge in their fields of interest.
I think I am doing rather well under the circumstances but the learning curve is still quite steep for me in this area and I look to others for their thoughts, experience and knowledge.
In the abscence of any real support from Bethesda or Prima, I thought that this forum and very useful Wiki was there to get help when needed, give help when requested and inform. For the most part I have found everyone helpful and friendly. I don't seem to be getting that from your responses.
If I have annoyed you in anyway please tell me what it is I have done to offend you, because you "sound" extremely impatient, angry and object to anything I post, (this isn't the first time is it).
Please let me know if there is anything I can do to appease you. It will certainly not come from myself, but what I don't want is this situation to deteriorate into one of these awful unilateral "trolling" situations so best to get it sorted as soon as possible.

Select the door to Brellach with the console and use the "unlock" command. Much easier than trying to find specific item IDs.Frodo-Baginses wrote:I have looked it up quite extensively in the hope that I could find a code for the a key to get into Brellach but it seems there ain't one!

And yeah, the Dementia gardens are bugged. You can explore Xirethard right up to the trap door, but don't go into the gardens.

Re: Keys to Brellach and Dementia
I'm sorry, but a forceful example is sometimes neccessary to break the inertia. Be it an intervention, a protest, or forcing a project to go back to the drawing board— someone has to begin by breaking out of the rut.
And indeed a pattern has emerged: you post a thread about trying to complete a quest or fulfill some goal. You hit an obstacle, express frustration about how you're unable to move past it, and ask for someone to provide you the specific console commands to resolve it. Someone replies, sometimes with a link to the wiki page that provides an answer. Maybe even gives you the actual command and ID numbers to execute that command.
All is well until you return with another post. The situation in the game is different: another quest, another location. But the problem is the same: you're trying to do everything, you hit a wall, and you just can't let it go until someone provides you the console commands needed to finish it. And it's like talking to a newbie again: answers we provided in earlier threads could help you with the new problem, but it's as if you never seen the wiki before.
And that's merely the issue sitting out there on the surface. There's something deeper here: We never hear anything about your experiences in the game outside of your current problem. You give the impression that the accomplishment is more important than the journey. When you finish one thing, there's no reflection on what has been done— you're already on the hunt for the next goal.
I've said this in the past: is this game making you happy? What are you gaining from this experience? Accomplishment? Relaxation? Inspiration? Frustration?
I'm sorry if even this is sounding hostile. I'm not angered. I'm trying to tell you that this pattern, the way that this problem keeps popping up again and again for you, looks like the signs of someone who is not finding a real sense of joy a game is meant to bring.

Re: Keys to Brellach and Dementia
It does sound hostile.
I am not getting this attitude from any other contributor.
Do I enjoy the game. Does it make me happy. What am I gaining from this experience.
I really don't think it is anything to do with you how I feel. I do not feel I am obliged in anyway to explain myself to someone who seems to have set themselves up as a website administrator - who gave you the job of policing?
I don't love this game. It is however very addictive and I have always been one for never giving up on anything until I have completed it. I have a very analytical mind and have been meticulous in my approach to work and play. My attitude has probably saved many lives (I refer to my work in the aero industry) and I have represented my country in sport.
To be honest I will not miss this game when I finally uninstall it from my hard drive. I really only got into it on the suggestion of someone else who plays Skyrim. I also wanted to play Skyrim, but I wanted to have a look at any prequel games in the series to see if there was any story line worthy following.
I am back on Assassin's Creed IV now. I have also followed this "story" from the very first game and very worthwhile it was too!
