The Pilgrims celebrated Thanksgiving the second year into their settlement. Do you know why they didn't during their first? They were too busy dying.

Thanksgiving is about embracing the fact that life is going to throw terrible things at you, but you can get through it.

Imagine that— going through the most terrible event you've suffered, and you're still here. You survived that.

Imagine that— you had the strength to get through the worst and come out alive.

I've never really been a fan of Thanksgiving. It always seems to turn into another reminder of how weak my relationship with my parents is becoming. Although it is always nice to see my brother and sister, I never really felt that sense of belonging that the season is supposedly about, at least I don't think so. Anywho, due to Canada's quirky customs, its already passed and I don't have to think about it anymore.

Although I really don't mind all the food... :P

Seven months into my recovery from alcoholism and counting. Lo and behold, this is probably the first Thanksgiving I can actually find meaning with.

Now you know the horrifying truth. This is me when I'm sober.

True, but is possible to influence another's feelings. While it is much easier to make someone feel worse (which can be almost unavoidable in some situations), making someone feel better usually causes both party's have a brighter outlook. I must admit it is always nice to see when someone shares a nice story/post in here, so keep on with your happy [&@%!]. Makes this place more fun

Don't be disheartened. I'm sure lots of people agree with you and found the message warm and inspiring. I know i did. General Discussion has a way of bringing out the comedic, witty responses more than the heartfelt sentimental ones sometimes, is all. :)

I think I got a pinched nerve in my left elbow. When I try to straighten my arm all the way or try to bend my arm all the way, I get a shooting pain all around my left elbow, especially the back in the elbow. It hurts like hell. As long as I don't try to do those two things, it's just fine.

It's done this a few times before through the years. It'll get better after about a day or two.
