Are you talking about promoting NPCs or the player? If you're trying to promote the player, you can do it in the Dialogue Results box with the keyword PCRaiseRank "Faction Name" (replace Faction Name with the name of the faction).

If you're trying to promote an NPC though, you'd use NPCID->RaiseRank, which can be put in either the Dialogue Results box or in an independent script. Just replace NPCID with the ID of the NPC.

Technically you can't add buildings to the game through scripts or dialogue, you can only Enable or Disable them, which will make it seem like they'd been added to the game to the player without actually doing so. To do this you would need to use a global variable and set it to a certain value to enable a structure. Here's an example:

Code: Select all

Begin DEG_TOTAI0154_BUConstruction01

short currentlyBuilt

if ( DEG_TOTAI06_VigVenge == 2 )
	set currentlyBuilt to 1
elseif ( DEG_TOTAI06_VigVenge > 2 )
	set currentlyBuilt to 0
endif

if ( DEG_TOTAI04_AntoniaCS == 1 )
	set currentlyBuilt to 1
elseif ( DEG_TOTAI04_AntoniaCS > 1 )
	set currentlyBuilt to 0
endif

if ( currentlyBuilt == 1 )
	Enable
else
	Disable
endif

End DEG_TOTAI0154_BUConstruction01
In this code, DEG_TOTAI04_AntoniaCS and DEG_TOTAI06_VigVenge are global variables. When those global variables reach a certain value, they set a local variable to one, which enables any object with this script attached to appear in the game world. Now if you were to make it so the player must buy the building, you would simply use dialogue on an NPC to initiate a transaction for the building and then set the global variable in question to the needed value to enable the structure.

I'm not sure you can actually do this with NPCs. The game assumes the NPC in question already belongs to a faction, so I know of no way to add an NPC who isn't a member of a faction to a new faction.

As far as I know, this isn't possible with vanilla Morrowind. Attack scripts work by targeting a very specific NPC ID, it doesn't work with targeting faction IDs. Again, this is as far as I know, and it's recommended you post a thread on the Official Forums, as someone there will surely know more than I do about the topic.

If you're confused about modding, don't worry, everyone's been there. The best advice I can give you is to take your time and learn how to use the CS. There's no way to learn how to mod Morrowind overnight, it takes time with many trials and errors. I'd suggest starting out with something simple, and then working on more complicated things as you get more familiar with the CS tools.

I'd also recommend using the Morrowind Scripting Guide for Dummies, it's the absolute BEST way to learn Morrowind scripting, and you'll be able to find answers to many of your questions there.

As for MCA, I don't know that there is a version that doesn't require Tribunal/Bloodmoon. A lot of mods require Tribunal and Bloodmoon because those expansions have expanded scripting capabilities, so some of the things they do are only possible with the expansions. Plus its been over a decade since Tribunal and Bloodmoon came out, you can't even buy Morrowind without the expansions anymore, it's generally assumed by modders that you already own them.

There are plenty of mods out there that don't require any expansions, but can you be more specific about what you're looking for? I can provide you with a list, so long as I know what it is you're interested in.
