What kind of Oblivion player are you?
In an attempt to gather more data about my fellow Oblivion players, and to learn stuff, I bear the question in this poll.
What kind of Oblivion player are you?
I set it to 2 choices max if you are a bit hybrid in your doings.

Re: What kind of Oblivion player are you?
How about 'roleplayer?' Each of my characters has a story that I stick with. From there, how each of them is played varies; some are wanderers, some seek out any quest they can find, and so on. They are always guided and limited by their set personality and preferences, though.
There is no one way I play Oblivion. I change what I do to suit the character.

I'm a roamer/roleplayer, for sure. In Oblivion, I always saw having a house as a waste of time, really, although they were fun, they had no real purpose. I could hold everything I needed on me, and I always felt like a really great part of the game was lost by settling down in a house. Sleeping in camps and ruins every night was just too fun, and being this sort of anonymous, roaming hero (or villain) always had a huge appeal to me.

I hate to call myself a quester, but I guess I am even though I don't like all the talking and running back and forth.

Quester from the very start, with Roleplaying coming in later as my way of 'exploring' the world. I tend to approach the same story, the same problems, from various perspectives and different characters. The trick is seeing how each questline can be twisted to fit the persona.
Baurus: Our job is to get the Emperor out of situations like this. Though I'll admit, things aren't going exactly to plan.
Casandra: At the moment, the deadliest weapon at my disposal is a goblin's head on a stick. I'd be worried if this was the plan.

I usually roleplay+roam, unless I'm an Atronach mage - then only roleplay and do quests here and there. I'm a good guy, preferably mage frequently chatting with people and making them like me, doing random quests and, well, obliterating bad people like necromancers and conjurers. They don't carry heavy items for me to sell, though on higher levels I mostly don't loot anything from those foes, considering it "corrupted" in some way.

I'm more of a Quester + Roleplayer. I was also a completionist, so the fun part was coming up with an internal narrative to justify doing absolutely everything.

Quester/Roamer/Completionist.
This particular playstyle is kinda ridiculous because my main character on Oblivion, for example, is grand master of everything. I wouldn't suggest it.
I roleplay sometimes but it's complicated. I feel tempted to deviate from the current path, I'm sure some of you can relate to. But I learned to separate what I want with Skyrim. I have separate characters set to different paths - the "right" way to play, I guess you could say that. And what I learned from Skyrim I transferred to Oblivion. Feels odd though. Perhaps because of my first experience with it.

I had to go with "Quester/Completest", but not in the sense you might think. I generally stick with a set path, either mage, warrior or thief, so I'll follow those quest lines until they're fully completed, while ignoring those that don't fit my character. I just can't see a mage having any real interest or pursuing Fighters' Guild objectives and quests, unless I'm playing a hybrid like a battle mage, in which case I'll do both.

Re: What kind of Oblivion player are you?
When I first started playing (years and years ago) I was a bit of a completionist. I want to do everything, see everything, etc etc. Roleplaying, roaming, and the rest were secondary. Now its a bit of the reverse - my primary goal is to roleplay, with roaming and questing only as it fit the character. Some characters can come close to completion (but that's more a rare god-type character) but most don't.
I also do have a habit of doing thieves/assassins, lol.

Re: What kind of Oblivion player are you?
I have a bad habit of taking whatever the hell I want, whenever the hell I want it, so I guess I'm a thief. My first thoughts when it comes to Oblivion are of sneaking into houses in Skingrad and taking all of the food and gold. I only do this with the thief-y characters I play, though, so I guess there's some roleplaying in there, too.

Re: What kind of Oblivion player are you?
No discernable path honestly.
I find playing as ''myself'' more fun than trying to be someone else. The main hero probably did every quest in the game lorewise so it's not like I break the canon or something.

Re: What kind of Oblivion player are you?
For the most part, I'm a role-player; I won't join the Fighter's Guild as Mage, won't cast magic, practice Alchemy, or sneak as a Warrior, and would never use two-handed- or blunt-weapons as a Thief, Rogue, or Assassin (I consider those three to be the purest of the stealth-classes), using all of the above as examples. If they wouldn't do it in real-life, then I won't have them do it in games. I also like to roam the country-side, exploring new dungeons and selling my loot back in the nearest city, keeping anything of use to my character. I usually start by exploring the Imperial City's sewers, which can be a very profitable venture, considering that one section of the sewers is home to a vampire-clan. A plan I just thought up is that, once I'm done in the Imperial City, I'll go to whichever city suits my race and dugeon-delve out of there. For example, I would go to Bruma as Nord, then work around the province counter-clock-wise; as a Redguard, I would start my adventure in Anvil. I won't take on quests with levelled rewards until my character is levelled-up as high as I can get them. I may try out Akatosh's Pug's idea and not take items from enemies that would be considered 'corrupted' (to use a word) by my specific character. Once I started playing Oblivion, my first true RPG (and 'M'-rated game), I was, for ever, hooked on role-playing. RPGs, medieval-/fantasy-action-games, and LEGO video-games are the only things I play any-more (I used to enjoy racers, but I've lost interest in them; they seem to be too repetitive for me now, always about 'win this race' or 'beat this bone-head in a one-on-one'; I enjoy the variety that the afore-mentioned games provide. Yes, even LEGO, as each one is unique in its own way).
Currently Playing: Arena (CD Version 1.07)
Current Character: Ka'dar Namarri, Male Khajiit Thief

Re: What kind of Oblivion player are you?
I've got an active Oblivion character going that I fire up at least once a month. I've played this game...man, I don't even know. I'm guessing I've beaten the main quest eight or nine times since 2006? I've gotten to where I like to alternate. Some days, I do a quest or two. Some days, explore random caves. Sometimes go back and forth. Sometimes do something silly like explore Cyrodiil and collect calipers. (Actually relevant to a SI quest.) Just depends.
Monsters are bred in labyrinths, labyrinths are bred from walls. There is a reason the Giants choose to remain nomadic rather than follow their shield kin the Nords in building permanent settlements. The Tower is the beginning of all walls.
