When did you finally knock Uthgerd to the floor?
Regardless of any mods you had installed, what level were you when you finally knocked Uthgerd to the floor?

Re: When did you finally knock Uthgerd to the floor?
Level 1, wasn't that tough of a fight either.
but seriously I tend to take her down within the first few levels of a play through, once you've figured out how to get a hit in and then getting back out things get easier.

It's been forever since I last even talked to her, so I've no idea.

No idea, but I usually deal with her early in the game. I like her no-nonsense attitude, though. She's my Heljarchen Steward. "Good, chat time's over."

Never did. As a matter of fact Im not impressed by people like her. If you really are tough, you dont have to advertise it, I will see and decide myself.
In fact you dont have a word in the matter. If I say you are tough, good for you. If I dont, bragging and pretending wont make you tough.

In vanilla Skyrim, I would brawl with her early and be done with it. But with my modded Skyrim, it's almost declaring war with her to get her to follow me.Evil-i wrote:No idea, but I usually deal with her early in the game. I like her no-nonsense attitude, though. I find that brawls are pretty easy if you just swing your left hand, it has very little startup and it allows to you to throw a bunch of punches really quickly if you don't alternate hands.

I have never had any problem with any brawl in the games. I just find punching and weaving to make it so simple that it has never been an issue.

same here, but I don't weave. just keep pressing the attack button, and never had any trouble. the most damage they ever do is maybe 1/100 of the damage bar goes down. I wonder why they included brawls in the game if they made them so easy.AKB wrote:I have never had any problem with any brawl in the games. Same. I've never lost a brawl yet. I don't plan to either.

Yeah brawling is absurdly easy, its so simple to back step their swings and if you just keep hammering weak rights (or lefts) you'll win in no time.

Re: When did you finally knock Uthgerd to the floor?
That's one thing I like about Requiem, in that a brawl becomes much more difficult. I think the last time I tried a brawl with Uthgerd, I was level 5ish. She crushed me into a fine powder.
Re: When did you finally knock Uthgerd to the floor?
Same here. Brawls are never much of an issue or problem. if you’re a Khajiit, have the Heavy Armor “Fists of Steel” perk or both, it’s even easier. I think I lost one duel with her once at very low level (maybe even still first level) at which point I simply went over to the Hall of the Dead and prayed at the shrine for the Blessing of Arkay to increase my Health and repeated the fight. I won the second time. I suspect that the Blessing of Kynareth would have been equally useful to increase the number of power attacks. Those are especially useful in a brawl as you get the same three-swing/punch combo as One-Handed power attacks.

Re: When did you finally knock Uthgerd to the floor?
Whatever mod I have installed, it's making Uthgerd live up to her bragging. In one game, I had to be level 30 before I could put a dent in her. Maybe it's Better Followers that I have still that boosts her? Other NPCs I have no problem bringing down early in the game.Archer wrote:That's one thing I like about Requiem, in that a brawl becomes much more difficult. Re: When did you finally knock Uthgerd to the floor?
I once knocked Uthgerd down in a way I wasn't expecting at all. She's my Heljarchen Steward, and one time I came home and stepped indoors to find her brawling with Housecarl Gregor. To end this foolishness, I used the Voice of the Emperor power for the first time ever. I was expecting a sedate and gentle experience, something along the lines of Yoda tutoring you on the intricacies of The Force while enjoying an after dinner scotch and cigar.
Let's just say that Voice of the Emperor makes Unrelenting Force seem like a dry popcorn fart. Heljarchen's interior looked like a trailer park after a tornado.

Re: When did you finally knock Uthgerd to the floor?
Oh Gods yes! My Bosmer thief/assassin in her second, Requiemified incarnation thought she could bully Mikael the bard on her first visit to Whiterun and got royally whalloped. After this rather painful experience she made sure to get a few more levels under her belt and the Martial Arts perk before even thinking about brawling with a tall Nord woman in a foul mood and full steel plate.Archer wrote:That's one thing I like about Requiem, in that a brawl becomes much more difficult. In vanilla, of course, it's kinda hard lose a brawl. I think I usually tackled and beat Uthgerd when I returned to Whiterun after getting the Dragonstone and killing Mirmulnir.

I'm level 20 and still can't beat her worth a darn. I don't know which mod I have that is getting me killed.Finn Wolfshorn wrote:In vanilla, of course, it's kinda hard lose a brawl. No, but seriously. Uthgerd levels up as you do and she’s a Warrior class meaning she primarily gets Health. Her minimum level is six, which is why she can be hard at low levels and consequently at higher levels if you’ve been putting points into anything but getting and keeping your Health up to par with hers, you might actually have a real fight on your hands unless you can actually do some real damage like with a Khajiit character or the “Fists of Steel” perk for the Heavy Armor skill. Especially if you’re playing a mage and have been pumping points into Magicka instead and can’t use Magicka during a brawl. At that point , your best bet is to use as many Fortify Health effects as you can get hold of, either Alchemy, Enchantments or both.

Re: When did you finally knock Uthgerd to the floor?
@logansrun must be a glitch on the ps3 cause my mage character could still use magic in the brawl with Uthgerd. It took 45 minutes but he wouldn't have made it without dragonskin and lots of healing.

Dragonskin is a (50%) Spell Absorption effect and does nothing toward physical damage reduction in Skyrim.all_freed wrote:@logansrun must be a glitch on the ps3 cause my mage character could still use magic in the brawl with Uthgerd. Er I can't remember the name but it's that master alteration spell that gives 85% dmg res. :plogansrun wrote: Dragonskin is a (50%) Spell Absorption effect and does nothing toward physical damage reduction in Skyrim.
Just remember it had to do with dragons.

I can see where the confusion would set in, the alteration spells are named 'ebonskin' and all that, right?

Re: When did you finally knock Uthgerd to the floor?
About the "No Swords, No Sorcery" rule in a brawl: what happens when you violate that? Does you opponent stop fighting and you forfeit the wager, or do you get a fine slapped on for assault?
I haven't indulged many bar-fights, but I have noticed that the insulting Orc/Nord/Redguard who tells you to go home will treat the fight as a brawl. There have been several instances where I've dropped one of those fighters to their knees, sheathed my weapon, and the opponent mutters "I'll let you live. This time." before staggering back up to their feet. Any further attempts to goad them back into a fight via conversation fails: They just keep on walking.

Baurus: Our job is to get the Emperor out of situations like this. Though I'll admit, things aren't going exactly to plan.
Casandra: At the moment, the deadliest weapon at my disposal is a goblin's head on a stick. I'd be worried if this was the plan.
