I picked one handed simply because I felt it was versatile, you can have a spell, another sword or a dagger etc. in the other hand, and the sword or axe can attack quickly and cleanly for any enemies that come close

In Morrowind we had Levitation, the ability to fly to any height.Snail's Pace wrote:That's where I really miss another skill that complemented archers: Acrobatics.Dark Spark wrote:Archery. Less of Sneak/Alchemy and more of "Stand on the tallest ledge you can find and send down your pain like a deity of the rain."
In Oblivion we lose Levitation, but Acrobatics allowed us to jump higher the more we invested in the skill.
In Skyrim we lose Acrobatics, and a high-level character jumps to the same height as a newbie fresh off the horse-cart.
In the next game, we're not going to have any jumping at all. You'll be able to take cover or mantle a low wall, but Bethesda is going to tell us that bunny-hopping breaks immersion and so they removed our ability to jump.

Yeah, Water-Walking is already a definite "no-no". Realistically speaking, Beth has always had trouble implementing water environments. Visually, they were good for their time, but mechanically they were broken as hell. In Morrowind, creatures on shore would lose track and couldn't detect you if you were swimming. In Oblivion, Slaughterfish would spawn on adjacent roads, etc. Not to mention all the underwater combat glitches. I guess they tried to fix that in Skyrim by simply eliminating underwater combat altogether, although now the "Dragonborn" can beat the snot out of the "World-Eater", Alduin, but can't even manage to defend themselves from being nibbled to death by a slaughterfish. That makes sense!

You can get boots with a water walking enchantment in Dragonborn..logansrun wrote:Yeah, Water-Walking is already a definite "no-no".
Re: Picking a favorite offensive skill
Ah, missed that one. Nice of them to at least include it as an afterthought. Can't wait to see what, if any, bugs come with the package.

Apart from the sea of ghosts area I haven't ever found it useful, it was great in morrowind because swimming was really slow, used a load of stamina and water enemies could actually be pretty lethal. Its more a novelty now.logansrun wrote:Ah, missed that one. Nice of them to at least include it as an afterthought. Can't wait to see what, if any, bugs come with the package.

Re: Picking a favorite offensive skill
Kinda weird that one of the heaviest pairs of Boots in the game allows for Water-Walking. Still, they'd come in handy for those times when I'm overencumbered and trying to cross a swift-flowing river with a strong current. You know, when you can't make any headway and get flushed over the falls. Again.Raynil dralas wrote:You can get boots with a water walking enchantment in Dragonborn..logansrun wrote:Yeah, Water-Walking is already a definite "no-no".

Tsk, tsk, where's your sense of adventure and excitement?
Anyway, it's starting to look like I'm the only one that favors the Destructive approach to problem solving.

I voted one-handed cause I love dual wielding.

Staring to wonder if I should've included other options like Conjuration, etc. Someone already mentioned Unarmed (Khajiit), but that's kinda what the "Other" option was for.

Never noticed before that Dual Wielding falls under One-Handed. A bit weird if you think about it.MissKokane wrote:I voted one-handed cause I love dual wielding.

Re: Picking a favorite offensive skill
Yeah I see what you mean but you're dual wielding one handed weapons, the skills one would learn to wield one handed weapons are the same one would apply to dual wielding rather than a Two handed weapon technique... that said IRL duel wielding swords is about as effective as trying to urinate into the wind. But hey thats what fantasy games are for!Evil-i wrote:Never noticed before that Dual Wielding falls under One-Handed. I picked One-Handed, for pretty much the same reason Emzi 43 gave.

I chose racism, that offensive skill [&@%!] plenty of people off.
(I actually chose one handed because dual wielding)

Thats the way I see it also my favorite attack is climbing somewhere or sneaking to a perfect spot and raining down death. The best is the shot thats so long a range they cant even guess where you would be.Dark Spark wrote:Archery. I chose Destruction, but Archery is a very close second. (two very different playstyles, though)

Archery's popular it seems. I never cared for bows in Skyrim though. Always preferred crossbows if I NEED range.

Re: Picking a favorite offensive skill
I've come to really enjoy crossbows myself, unless I'm playing certain characters (like a bosmer or a khajiit.) Took me a good while of getting used to firing them without the crosshair on, a lot harder than bows in that regard.Unionhack wrote:Archery's popular it seems. I usually go with One-Handed, Archery, and Illusion (this one's my favorite and highly underrated). There's just nothing as satisfying as firing a bolt of Fury/Frenzy into a crowd and letting them go at it. I never get tired of that. Makes it good for clearing out bandit camps (Or major cities if you're looking for some lulz).

Archery. There's just something really satisfying about it. I guess it ties to how I usually prefer sniper rifles and stealth in other games.
However, I'm having an absolute blast with Cyril who branched out from the usual "sneaking plus archery" -formula. He's a pure archer who never sneaks but does huge amounts of damage by utilizing alchemy and some enchantments. When enemies get too close, he bashes their face in with the bow. It's fun.

I voted 1 handed because I always either use a sword and shield when I make a melee class, or a dagger for sneak attacks whenever possible for stealth characters. I always make archery a part of my strategy where applicable, but never magic.

I prefer conjuration. I'll start with summoning an atronach of some sort to use as a distraction, then a bound weapon (either a sword or bow as the situation merits) and have at 'em.

Re: Picking a favorite offensive skill
My witchhunter took illusion up to silent casting and would distract enemies with summons while hitting them with sneak shots from a bound bow or my dwemer crossbow. Good times! I love conjuration.skullclutter wrote:I prefer conjuration.
