Starting again

Post by Silk'har »

Hi guys, long time lurker of the wiki. I played Morrowind a lot back in the days, I really didn't like using glitches and stuff to maximize skills faster (leaving autorun or making yourself being hit by rats) or exploit game bugs. The game was just so big there was no time for that :P
So... I'm picking up Morrowind for the tenth time I think, this time I want to play with mods, and I'm in a bit of trouble.
Let me do a list of what I'd like to install, after spending a day on the internet

First off, the big ones, the must
  • Overhaul; well this is a must but I'm not really sure if it changes gameplay as well and so if it would conflict with other mods
  • Tamriel Rebuilt; I knew about this but I never played it. Does this add areas WITH quests, storylines and characters/dialogues?
  • Fixes; I'm going to install Morrowind Codepatch and the Patch Project, hoping to get rid of the old unarmored bug lol
Second, the smaller ones, but that I feel could make the game better for me
  • Sneaking realism; this is the link (won't let me post the URL, so here's it: www DOT nexusmods DOT com/morrowind/mods/33854/?). I honestly don't understand if I have to choose between the options or what. But I never liked when I could move swiftly while wearing a huge shining armor
  • Morrowind Comes Alive!; this one says it adds NPCs and various random caravans or trails, why not, seems cool :)
Now onto the questions. I'm looking for some more mods but I don't know if they exist or if they are even possible. Something that would fix the thrown weapons? I never, ever used the thrown axes and other things and I don't honestly remember if they could have been enhanced or not. Something similar to the sneaking one, but for the mages. Using light armor gives small penalties to spells and using heavier ones give worse penalties. I heard about Less Generic NPCs but it doesn't seem a complete mod and honestly I don't want to install uncomplete things (like, in a town NPCs are cool and in another one not?); but something for dialogues could be cool too. For now I can't think of anything else, but if you want to suggest more PLEASE DO :)

Long life Morrowind and long life to all the modders out there (and the players who test them :P)

PS: Sorry for any typos, I'm not an english speaker

Tamriel Rebuilt has some areas that don't have quests yet (depending on what release you have), but the majority of it is fully fleshed out. Morrowind Comes Alive seems to have a lot of compatibility issues, if you want to use lots of mods.

Nice, thank you.
I'm looking for an old mod, I can't seem to find it.
It allowed you to click a hotkey to directly put an item into your inventory. Let's say you open a chest, instead of dragging the sword into the inventory you simply clicked on it while holding down something else. I don't remember the name.

Is this the Overhaul your asking about?
If so then here are the MGSO credits with included list of mods (or parts of mods) and their authors.
Morrowind Code Patch is part of the download.
I have Morrowind Patch Project in my game but I don't recall if it were part of the 'overhaul'.

If you're using the MGSOverhaul then this patch, at Great House Fliggerty, is needed.
This post, by Spirithawke on the Bethsoft forums, consolidates known problems and solutions.

I've never used TR, MCA or the sneaking mod you mentioned.
Hope this was of some help.
Long life Morrowind and long life to all the modders out there (and the players who test them :P)

Ok so I think this list is pretty cool

Overhaul (including the various textures, graphics, Code Patches, etc)
Tamriel Rebuilt
BTB Improvements

2x Time (a day lasts twice)
Dodge mod (to make Unarmored skill useful)
LGNPC
QOTW (Quest of the Week)
Enemy hand 2 hand damage works slightly different
Faster projectiles and magic missiles

What do you think? I removed a lot of mod thanks to the BTB Improvement Mods.
I wanted to add new weapons and more things but honestly they will just start to give me annoying errors and corrupted save files so better to keep clean and short

Also, I'm playing total vanilla now, but do the Overhaul graphics mod remove the white fog? Or at least extend it to a reasonable amount? I saw some videos of amazing sceneries...

Are you asking for a mod to incorporate this because armor doesn't normally affect spell casting in Morrowind. That was a change the developers incorporated into Oblivion.
