Re: The 'What happened to you today' thread
I was bored and browsing my Facebook earlier when I realized that several of my old classmates have either gotten married already or are having kids (or both). It seems weird that they're starting that so young... I mean, some of them are younger than I am. I'm only 20. I might have no interest in such things, but... Aren't they rushing that a bit? Eh. I guess it's still not as bad as the one girl that dropped out of high school to have a kid when she was only 16 or 17. I have no comment for that.
I really didn't do that much today. I got up this morning with the intention of doing some work around the house (mainly cleaning and mowing the front lawn), but that never happened. Apparently I managed to catch something again. I've been a zombie for most of the day. My head is stuffed up on one side (causing a lovely ringing ear in the mornings. Usually fades by noon. My mother actually has the same problem, but hers never fades), I sound like a frog, and I've got a cough. No idea where I get these things from, but I hope it goes away soon. I have things to do. The front lawn needs to be cut and I can't really do that when I'm coughing. The scent of cut grass just makes that worse and adds a whole lot of sneezing to it.
So... I guess most of my actual day was spent messing around on my desktop and my laptop. When I realized I didn't have the energy to do the cleaning, I got my laptop out to continue typing my Kvatch story... Except I never really got around to that, either. I wound up watching the first Lord of the Rings film again.
Gods... I think I have a problem. I've been watching the Lord of the Rings films almost daily for the past three weeks. Though I think it's more of a sad reflection on the fact that there's nothing on TV. Nothing interesting, anyway.
Eh. Anyway, once I finished the first film (again), I switched to playing Oblivion. Seryna Vandori has finally reached level 39... Out of 50 or so. It only took 116 hours to get there. Ugh. The game is making me paranoid, though. The infamous byte is at 48 and has been there for a long time now. I'm expecting it to hit 49 any time. At least it can be fixed on PC, though. That was the main reason why I never got Oblivion for PS3.
Well, I think it's time for me to go to bed. It's after midnight. As usual.

Re: The 'What happened to you today' thread
Mauin if I had the resources (and willpower) I'd kidnap you, take you to Beta, have your blood taken and then have an allergy test (ImmunoCAP/RAST) performed on said blood. It's easy to get into the mindset that it's normal to feel crappy but it's not. Being allergic isn't a black or white. For instance you could be slightly allergic to fish and extremely allergic to nuts and never know. Same goes with plants and animals. If you get an Immunocap test (maybe I'm thinking RASP testing, ask a doctor) you get a full readout of your results in the form of a bar graph so you know what to avoid.
There's also mold testing which is done in the same way (testing your blood). If that mold is prevalent in your house then this could prove to be an issue to a host of health problems. Not much you can do to handle that situation (home mold testing is sketchy and expensive and if the mold you're specifically allergic to is found then it's either spend thousands removing it or rebuild the house) short of moving out but it's very good info to know and maybe you could find a solution from there.

The annoying thing is that I've had allergy testing done twice and, each time, nothing has shown up. So, if those tests are true, then I have no allergies.
There is mold around here, but we clean it out when we find it. Can't really do much about it. It's mostly in the frames of each window and other areas that tend to get wet. The worst patch of mold we found was a few years ago. Apparently my grandmother had spilled a glass of water behind a shelf and onto the carpet without telling anybody. The shelf, wall, and carpet in that spot grew a rather thick layer of mold. It was cleaned up. The mold in the windows isn't enough to cause problems.
Eh. I'm pretty sure this started as an ear infection. My right ear (the one that was having the ringing/plugged up problem) was hurting for a while. It has gone back to normal now, but I still feel like I have a cold or a flu. I was actually a little surprised when I got up this morning to find that my ear wasn't ringing constantly. "Hey, I can hear! That's a miracle." Unfortunately, that also meant that I could hear the dog charging inside and outside all night. Ugh. She's eating the cherries off of the cherry tree and giving herself diarrhea. Stupid dog. You think she would have figured that out from last year ("Hey, maybe it isn't such a good idea to be eating parts of this tree."), but apparently not. She will not leave my plants alone.
I would say what I've done today, but since it's not even 11am yet, I haven't done much. I might get around to mopping the floors later, though.
Edit:
Well, I did get a phone call while playing Oblivion. I was told to take an ice cream bucket outside to pick as many cherries off of the tree as I could. Mostly those that were within the dog's reach. I filled up one bucket and there is still so many cherries on the tree. Still plenty that the dog could get at (if she was really desperate). I don't even know what to do with the ones I picked. I would use them in baking, but I don't know what. I don't have any ingredients for pies or anything, so... Ugh. Just going to have to eat them.
It would be nice if the dog would just leave the damn tree alone, but no, she has to eat the pretty red berries. The wasps apparently had the same thought. There was at least ten of them in the tree with me, usually going after the same cherries I was. It's a miracle I didn't grab a wasp by accident.

Well, for anyone who remembers me complaining about being sick last night it turns out that I was sick enough to get admitted to hospital: something apparently isn't right with my bladder or liver. It's been a super [&@%!] last 14 hours to be brief.

And discharged.
I've to go back for an operation in two weeks (gall bladder needs to be removed) but until then I'm just taking up floor space.

Re: The 'What happened to you today' thread
I think I spent most of my day watching movies and writing/messing around on my laptop. Not really productive, but... Eh. I'm going to have another busy few days since my parents are going back to my grandmother's house for the weekend. Hooray for being stuck with a pain-in-the-butt dog. I can handle two picky cats, but the dog? She has a taste for furniture. There isn't a single couch/chair in the living room that hasn't had holes chewed in them. They're old and falling apart anyway, but now it just looks ugly. Uglier. Whatever.
Anyway, after dinner I started playing Oblivion again. At the rate things are progressing, I wouldn't be surprised if Seryna had 10 or so hours left until the animation slowdown kicks in. At that point, I'll just have to reset it and carry on. Although I could reset it now if I really wanted to. I would have actually spent longer playing Oblivion today, but I finally got irritated enough by the broken textures in Creature Diversity to fix them. The boars and goblins were a quick enough fix, but the ogres weren't cooperating. At all. I tried replacing the normals (which seemed to be what was causing the problem) with the vanilla ones (just renamed to match the Creature Diversity ogres: green, dark, and light) and that didn't work. It was an improvement (maybe only half as bad. The main problem I saw is that the Creature Diversity "normals" weren't actually normal maps at all. Just renamed diffuse files), but it wasn't good enough.
I had to fiddle around with Paint.NET for a while to get it fixed and, even then, it still looks off. I've fixed the normals (by removing the alpha channel, reducing the size to 512x512, and saving it as an uncompressed file), but now the Creature Diversity ogres are shiny. Apparently it's a compromise: broken normal maps for shiny ogres. At least they actually react to light now.
I've only managed to get a look at a light ogre in-game, so I have no idea if my 'fix' has worked for the other two. It's just going to have to wait for tomorrow because it's time to go to bed now. Early start tomorrow. There's no way I'm going to be able to sleep through the sound of my parents leaving.
At least I won't have to listen to the screech of the brakes of my father's old vehicle. He traded it in for a truck yesterday since the old thing was falling apart.

Re: The 'What happened to you today' thread
So yeah, I just spent roughly 2 hours re-bandaging my laptop with some fresh electric tape, even had to glue a few areas to help reinforce the frame<_< is it sad that it kind of looks like a mummy now? I can't wait to replace this bloody mess. It's been nothing but hell the very week I bought it. The fact alone that I haven't taken a hammer to it is a testament of how much I value internet access..
Anyways I'm considering getting a gaming laptop and upgrading some addition RAM, both for college use and minecraft. Once I get my replacemnt.. I'm considering doing a viking funeral for my current one, partly bc I want to put it to rest.. and burn it in a hellish fire fueled by my hatred!
Be gone with this wretched spawn till only ash and burnt plastic remains!

Re: The 'What happened to you today' thread
I wouldn't recommend getting a laptop with less then 4GB RAM and upgrading it to 4GB or more as laptops do not like it when one fiddles around with their insides due to their parts being small. You should be able to find a gaming(ish) laptop for $300 if you don't care about the brand. Instead of giving it a viking funeral, just feed it to AKB. I'm sure he will love having his favourite slave, thrall pet target practise Beta give him a snack.
As for what UESP's only Dovah. I had this week off so i went to some places to look at charity shops. I regretted one place as it was a damn rip off and i want those 2 hours of travelling back. The other place made me loath the [&@%!] that is my town and the place afterwards, i found some stuff! I found a pair of jeans that may or may not fit me. I kinda [&@%!] that up as i believed the pair of jeans i was wearing at the time was 32 inches. They are not. They were 30 so i'm hoping that the 34 inch jeans will fit me if i use a belt. Picked up some socks from Primark for £4(they had a sale on) along with finding the fabled umbrella for men for £4 and something else that i would perfer not to say as you don't need to know that. I discovered i have spent more then i should have since payday and am now on a very tight budget. I have to ensure that i do not spend more then £60 a week and i should really only be spending £200 a month on the basics. The basics for me are food, travel, the weekly fine for annoying people in chat, the usual.
Picked up Anchorman 1 and it is just as good as i remeber it. I also picked up a bookcase on Tuesday and put that together on Wednesday. Ok, it's not techincally a bookcase because it's meant to be used for shoes, clothes and other stuff like that. But it reduced all of my piles of books, games and films to just one and that pile is mostly stuff that i feel i can't risk putting on the "Bookcase" in case it is too heavy in total.
I've also been playing Far Cry 3 and it is excellent! I have played Far Cry 2 and i remeber getting [&@%!] off a lot or annoyed and generally not liking it due to Crytek beliving that respawning enemies are a fun mechanic. It's not fun when you clear out an outpost and they respawn once you drive down the road. Anyway, Far Cry 3 is amazing and Jason is an interesting character. Oh and Vaas is an excellent villian! You can tell Michael Mando really enjoyed playing him. Shame that..... i'm gonna to shut up now as i'm a bit off topic.
I've tried wheat biscuits with banana, sugar and milk and i like it. I'm very fussy when it comes to breakfast for some reason. I think that covers of what i've been up to.

Do you wear skinny jeans, or are you just a skinny dude? I ask because I think a lot of British guys wear skinny jeans as a style or whatever but frankly I could be making that [&@%!] up in my mind.
Me too. For me this is in part because breakfast means morning, and morning means grumpy. That being said, after breakfast is usually my favorite part of the day while it used to be not-so-great.Thelastdovah wrote: I'm very fussy when it comes to breakfast for some reason.

Re: The 'What happened to you today' thread
Today marks the end of a chapter for me, and a new one begins. Haha, without being less dramatic, I'm teaching my last Saturday yoga class today. Been teaching that same group of lovely students for 3 years, so I'll probably cry at the end of class. But this is a good change. I've shifted my schedule so I'm not working on weekends.
And now I'll have more time to start wrapping up that project I've been working on. I'm working 3 days a week...and the rest of the time is going towards editing. After 3 rewrites on this book, think I finally have the version that's right although that's bound to change some. Found someone to do the cover, too! I can't believe this is all coming to fruition. Scary and exciting at the same time.

Re: The 'What happened to you today' thread
Today I worked my usual 8 hour shift, which was rough. But the main event was right after work, I got to hang out with my friends. Somehow they decided to ask a bunch of questions that are hard to answer. The roughest question for me was the ever so popular with my friends group "who in [our high school acting class] would you make out with?" I was hesitant to answer, cuz I'm me. I deflected the questions a few times, probably lasted a good 5 minutes, until a certain one of my friends, who happens to be the brother of a certain female former friend, said that he already knew what three I could say. I could hear the "Good, Bad and the Ugly" theme start up as he seemed to dare me to say them. It took until he had said that one of them was already married, another is living with her serious boyfriend and the third is on an LDS mission. With that, most of the room knew the first one, only 2 of the 7 people knew who the second one was, and no one knew the third. Until he started hinting further and it eventually came out. It was frustrating, but all three of the people were old news.
After that, somehow we decided to watch Markiplier's play through of "Five Nights at Freddy's"... starting at 12:50AM. Heh, good luck going to sleep tonight self.

Re: The 'What happened to you today' thread
Over the years I've learned a lot of mechanics tricks. One of them I 'learned' on the internet is that you can find exhaust leaks - with your hand - when the car is running but cold. Apparently this doesn't apply to large V8s. That damn exhaust manifold is the hottest thing I've ever touched in my life. You know how you can tap a frying pan or whatever to see if it's hot and not burn yourself? Apparently this doesn't apply to exhaust manifolds, my knuckles literally blistered immediately. I washed said wound, applied aloe (works for sunburns, hoping it works for this as well) and bandaides. Now my fingers are frickin throbbing.

Re: The 'What happened to you today' thread
I find that aloe works for minor burns, but... I'd go with polysporin or something for more severe burns.
Eh. Then again, I'm the one that's annoyingly prone to infection. Always have been. I had a friction burn on the back of my left hand that got infected and it took months to heal. One of those times where polysporin wasn't nearly strong enough. That was back in either 2008 or 2009 and I still have the scar.
Well, everybody else is finally back here. That means I can finally get a break from managing the dog. Sort of. I still have to clean up her mess... Ugh. She's chewing at the lilacs again. And one of the poplars. She's still digging, too. She also barks constantly. Bloody nightmare dog. She needs to be spayed. Maybe then she'll calm down a little instead of being an arse all the time.
I got up this morning with the intention of cleaning my fish tanks, but I never got around to it. I'm still sick. It got better for a few days, but then it got worse again. Meh. Whatever. It'll go away eventually. It would help if I didn't have to yell at the dog constantly to get her to stop barking. That just hurts. I had to do that constantly while I was making dinner earlier.
So... For most of the day, I was probably messing around on my PC. Nothing on TV and I -for once- didn't feel like watching any movies. Or writing. Or doing anything else, really. I know I was playing Spore this morning since I released two insect-like creatures. Had one person ask how I made the tail on another creation (I thought that was fairly well known, but apparently not), so I told them it was just a limb. I'm kinda hoping that's what they wanted considering all they asked was, "How tail?" Yeah. I don't think they are English.
The rest of my time was spent browsing Oblivion mods and playing the game itself (for maybe two hours). I found one that added harvestable ducks and swans to the game. Nice little addition, but the ducks and swans don't really sound like ducks or swans. I could do a more convincing quack... If I didn't sound gravely.
Eh. It's late. I've been up early for the past few days, so I think I'm going to go to bed. Maybe I can actually sleep in for once instead of being rudely awakened by the sound of the dog attacking things in the living room. At 5am. Every day. All the time. Gods, that dog is annoying.

Yesterday I went to the fair in the little town I went to grade school in.
Ate a lot of junk food, and watched the demolition derby there, which is basically scrap cars smashing into each other until only one's running, and it's as awesome as it sounds.

Re: The 'What happened to you today' thread
Since I have had barely time nor strength to visit the boards lately, I feel I am due to write a medium-long post in this thread.
So in the past couple of weeks I have been relieved of my "job" in the pre-school, which is good as I was only an trainee who basically worked for free, this isn't exactly true, but my profit was very small considering I was working full time. So now I can sit around home for the same amount of money (paid by the local government as it was while I was working in the pre-school). Another bonus to this is that I can now work as a temp (and the pre-school wants me, because they know me and I know them). So I just gotta get around and get my "foot inside the door" in other places too (it has gone great so far). I used to get 924,05$ for 128 working hours a month and now I get that without working and if I get just 40 hours a month as a temp I will basically make the same so if I should be so lucky to get 80 hours of temp work in a month I will make 924,05$ x 2! - there are some factors here about what I get for nothing and I what I make I won't get further into though. Let's just leave it at it's good as it is.
Next chapter.
My roommate's cousin had been working in Canada for quite some time and had recently got back home to the State of Denmark (there's something rotten, lol). He had been living at some people he knew, but without really living there, so my roommate had suggested that my roommate and I made some changes to benefit us all and relocated some stuff so our apartment would be suitable for three tenants. We are currently in this process (right now my original roommate lives in the living room, but we are going to split it up somehow with a door or something). So my rent is considerably cheaper now, which is great. It's been some change going from living two guys at our place to three, I tell you that, but I like it.
Last chapter.
With my cheaper rent I have the freedom to spend a bit more money on things I couldn't before, although I am not rich, it is nice to see my bank account not emptied within the first two weeks of the month (I guess I really can't say this yet, but you know what I mean). I just ordered concert tickets for a Danish psychedelic rock band next month, so I am pretty excited about that and tomorrow (when I'm done with work) I am gonna go rehearse with a new band, that a friend of mine and I started earlier this year... and after that a friend is coming over to play Magic the Gathering and get drunk, so basically everything is very nice. Unfortunately I haven't picked up anymore girls by falling off my bike lately, lol.
Wish you all the best.

P.s. s**t I am not gonna proof read this. Back to reading LotR.

Re: The 'What happened to you today' thread
I got drunk for the first time tonight, an event that was mostly fueled by the fact that I'm STILL not over a girl I've been in love with for ages upon ages.
It's cool though, I got a lot of sage advice on it. And it really helped.

Time for the Dovah's weekly update!
Returned to work on Monday. Discovered the place fell apart without me and dealt with a few things that should have been dealt with in my absence.
Tuesday, was late to work because like a stupid idoit, i misplaced my goddamn key and paniced about it. We had no access to the net at work due to the entire college system going down which mean our net went down as well.
Wednesday, was a good day and i think an ulcer started to form. Am [&@%!] hoping it's an ulcer caused by stress.
Thursday, nothing to say.
Friday, i left work an hour early because i had some credit available. I don't get paid overtime but we have a system where you can end up having overtime credit and can claim it by leaving early. I had an hour in total so i left early after getting it approved.
Saturday, I overslept and was an hour and a half late to the charity shop. I picked up a pair of leather work shoes and a duvet for only £5.60(with my 25% staff discount. Played Far Cry 3 and watched Dr Who.
Sunday, woke up at half 12 and roleplayed. Will play FC3 and clean up the cave.
Monday, [&@%!] Mondays. Mondays are the spawn of Molag Bal! It seeks to corrupt your children and your soul!

Re: The 'What happened to you today' thread
Today I baked a cake.
Sorry the photo is kind of [&@%!] but it's covered and in the fridge now and I don't want to go dig it out to take another pic. Supposedly this cake is "better than sex" but I'm not so sure. I'm bringing it to school tomorrow because we're having a party as a "bonding exercise" for the yearbook staff. There's one chick who [&@%!] hates all of us because she wanted to be the editor even though she can barely read and write above third grade level. She's got our supervisor wrapped around her finger, unfortunately, so we're getting all of the blame for her inability to do anything without being an enormous passive-aggressive [&@%!]. I don't see how feeding her gaping mouth-hole is going to stop her from hating us, but if it gets me food, whatever.

That cake looks bomb dig, Rosie! Did your class enjoy it?
So my husband found a moose skull while out hiking, and promptly fit it on my head for measurements. He's cleaning it up right now and making some changes to it, says its going to be my "Dovahkiin gaming helmet" that I can show off to my UESP buddies. He literally is my perfect match. <3

Thanks, they did! So did I, for that matter. I actually just ate a piece. Of course I took a giant piece because I have poor impulse control, and it was way too much for me, but I forced it down anyway and then had to spend a little while sitting near the bathroom because I felt like I was going to vomit. It stayed down, though, so all is well.Dohva. wrote:That cake looks bomb dig, Rosie! Did your class enjoy it?
