Hey guys
So I've been playing a hunter character, but I've noticed, there really aren't many animals in vanilla Skyrim I can hunt... I see one every 10 minutes or so, and it get's kinda boring, and also I have no real reason to hunt because pelts and stuff aren't useful at all...
I was wondering if there were any mods that increased the number of animals in the game, and made a better rpg experience for a hunter character?

I don't know of a mod that just adds more creatures, but Immersive Armors does a pretty good job of giving you a reason to collect pelts.

In a word: Hunterborn. I would say that it's probably not entirely bug free, but it does add a lot of new Hunting-related content to the game, including new skills and mechanics. Worth checking out at the very least.

Speaking of bugs, you can always try shooting butterflies and torchbugs. Not so much a 'hunter' but an exterminator in the wilds of Skyrim.
Baurus: Our job is to get the Emperor out of situations like this. Though I'll admit, things aren't going exactly to plan.
Casandra: At the moment, the deadliest weapon at my disposal is a goblin's head on a stick. I'd be worried if this was the plan.

Yes, they have a hit box and everything.
Imagine the scene: there's a sabre cat languishing on a sunny hillside in the tundra. You take aim, nock an arrow, then loose the shot. The arrow flies downrange, then *poof*— a small cloud of dust, and blue wings of a butterfly drop to the grass.
If that ever happens, I'm dropping the bow and running. Kynareth loved the cat so much that she had a butterfly throw itself in front to take the hit, and it's not wise to mess with Mother Nature.

You might give Return to Helgen a look. It's not particularly about hunting but it does add in a Hunters Guild in Helgen that you can join and they give you missions to go hunt animals and bring back the meat and pelts.

The best place I have found to hunt is around Whiterun, mostly to the west out on the tundra. There are some critters to the northeast as well. Since I prefer to make all my equipment I will spend several in game days out to the west of Whiterun hunting and mining for the materials I will need. Lots of leather and ore to be had. I even take the meat back to Whiterun to sell to Anoriath at the market. If he runs out of gold you can start selling to Hulda, Carlotta, or Belethor.
Hunting in wooded areas is not as easy. Line of sight is a lot lower and your more likely to spook the animals into running before you even see them.
What I would like to see is some one in each hold that will pay you a bounty for killing wolves. Say 25 gold each. To earn the reward you have to turn in wolf ears or something. Just as long as its not the pelt since I have a use for those.

I've had just that happen. Though I think I was going after a deer or maybe a wolf. It's been a while. It was really something, surprised me at the time.

Hawks are also another target that can be quite exciting to go after. I wonder what kind of fishing you can do. Obviously you can't fire arrows into the water to hit fish, but is it possible to hit fish that leap out of the water?
