"True, though to be fair, she was the first to mention taking Ebonreach for its metals. Still..." Daud muttered.

When the charge was called, Daud began hurtling into the fray as fast as his weight would allow.

Selana followed the prince. "It was only a suggestion." She muttered under her breath as she made her way towards the upcoming battle. She mentally prepared herself for the lives that she would be forced to take and hoped that they would die quickly. But she would have preferred to kill no-one.

"As long as it pays the bills Isaac, though maybe I can find the body of one of them killed with wind magic and see how the organs are damaged and tell the others how what I find so they can weather the impact of a wind spell better." Gale said to himself intrigued at the prospect at finally getting the possibility of experimenting on something, then he pulled out his tome and sped up maintaining a steady speed a little bit behind the others.

"A stupid suggestion." muttered Ned under his breath. He also followed the Prince, ready to draw his blade at a moment's notice.

Amidst the hectic combat that was taking placing in the center of the plain, the remainders of the three armies were hardly prepared for the Estean Company joining the fray in full force.

Together, the three forces outnumbered the Prince's group, but with the state of hostilities between the three, it was assured that they wouldn't be banding together to face the new threat; instead, the already visceral struggle turned even more scrappy than before. The lower ranked soldiers looked reasonably afraid, but their commanders all gave commands to stand their ground against the new threat.

The Indartis forces, the most numerous and clad in yellows and oranges, were mostly mounted cavaliers with a few heavily armored knights and the occasional archer. A paladin, atop a white horse, led the force.

The Arcymis forces, what few were left, were mages and clerics clad in varying shades of purple. Heading their failing defense was a man in black armor atop a black horse; a Dark Knight, equally skilled in matters of sword and spell.

Lastly, a majority of the forces of Ormica were in the skies, swooping down on their pegasi to perform hit-and-run strikes while swerving and maneuvering around deadly arrows and blasts of wind. It was not a comfortable situation to be a fighter in the air. To supplement this, a number of men wearing scarce leather clothing and wielding axes held their lines comfortably on the ground; those familiar with Ormica would know them to be barbarians of the city-state of Fezzikton. The force wore green, and their commander appeared to be a Dark Flier atop a black pegasus; however, the commander's mount was struck with a gust of wind from the mounted Dark Knight from Arcymis, causing her to careen out of the air and fall to her death.

The two remaining commanders were situated behind the majority of their dwindling forces. How to members of the Estean company would proceed was entirely up to them; they held the advantage of the element of surprise.
Spoiler:
So, as I said, combat's gonna be like how it was in the Dragon Age RPs. The enemies are mooks for you to write your own combat scenes with, because it's another form of expressing your character and all that. The commanders are not mooks however and if you choose to engage them then I'll be taking control of them and writing something in tandem. Commanders are essentially 'bosses', if you will.

Daud plodded his way to the front ranks of the Indartis remnants. A cavalier charged him, but his sword pitifully and harmlessly deflected off the knight's armour. Daud's reply was a fatal thrust of the lance to the cavalier's heart, and he fell from his horse. The horse whinnied, frightened as all hell, and fled from the battle.

Gale whistled to himself as he flipped through his tome for a spell suited to his needs, then as quickly as he had been flipping through the book, stopped and shook his head as the Ormican commander's bones crunched on impact "More's the pity, kinda wanted to kill her, ah well one of the barbarians ought to do." True to his word, Gale read the spell twice and shot a huge blast of compressed air that exploded out in bone crushing bloom on impact at a large barbarian wearing leather armor and wielding a longsword and buckler. As the man flew back and landed on his shattered bone structure Gale whistled in admiration at his handywork.

A soldier charged towards Selana with his axe raised and found himself being flung backwards by her wind magic. He got up and charged at her again but was seperated from his life by a fireball directly to his head. A pegsi flew down towards the source of the fireball and Selana barely managed to jump out of the way. She unleashed a blast of wind magic at it but failed to hit her target.

Carn found himself face to face with a hulking Indartis knight, the large fellow hefted his great javelin but was outsped by the frantic Dark Mage. Making the appropriate gestures, a black cloud formed overhead almost instantly, the bolt of blue lightning coming down not once but twice, stunning the knight and tossing back several meters. The large knight fell in a crumpled heap, smoking but most certainly dead. Lightning was deadly, and efficient, just like it's master.

Another enemy knight began heading Daud's way, the latter of whom noticed the unarmoured Carn nearby on the battlefield. "Stay behind me!"

The enemy knight thrust his lance at Daud. He managed to find a weak point at Daud's shoulder, and pierced just enough through his armour to wound. It was mostly superficial, but still painful.

Daud's reply was a return thrust, with greater effect. His powerful blow pierced the knight's side, yielding a decent wound--though the enemy was still standing.

A lone Indartis mercenary had turned his back on the enemy and his fellows and had begun to flee the battle. His footsteps were soon muffled by the sound of pounding hooves, and as he turned around--

Tristan's iron-tipped lance plunged through the would-be deserter's heart. The thrust carried him a few feet before his body slid off the weapon and fell unceremoniously to the ground, his lifeblood watering the soil. Several arrows whizzed past Tristan, one glancing off of his shoulder-guard, and inflicting a slight bit of pain.

Carn nodded, staying twenty paces behind Daud. The Dark Mage cracked his Flux tome, summoning a poison fog. "Hold your breath Daud!" Carn said, the black haze rolling out towards the knight Daud was facing.

Daud acquiesced, holding his breath, and additionally delivered to the enemy knight a solid smack to the helm with the side of his lance. It wouldn't do any lasting damage to him, but it would probably distract him from holding his own breath.

Gale, still in the vicinity of the main body of Ormican troops closed his book and sprinted for cover as several arrows from pegasus mounted troops whistled past his head landing with a thud in the ground. Looking around for another party member in case he got rushed by someone who wasn't a meatsack with a spell tome he opened tome again and hurriedly flipped through a few pages looking a more precise spell. Standing up from the boulder he had been taking cover behind he shot another compressed air blast towards a pegasus rider taking the wind out from the creature's wings and causing it to plummet with the rider still hooked in. Then, Gale began running to Daud and Carn ready to help them deal with the commanding Dark Knight.

Selana saw the pegsi flew over her and saw it kill several soldiers in one foul swoop. A knight had spotted her as she got up and rode towards her with his lance aimed at her. However, he was just a man in a metal suit and she was a mage capable of conjuring fire. The knight found himself being thrown off his horse by a fireball and yelled out in pain as flames rose from the ground. Selana feel very guilty burning the knight alive and had acted on instinct but she did not have time to dwell on it due to a soldier throwing a spear at her. She rolled out of the way and straight into a soldier.

The soldier punched her in the nose and felt a lot of pain. She was flipped onto her back and let out a cry of pain. The soldier plunged his sword towards her but she rolled out of the way. He swung his weapon at her and she jumped backwards. She blasted him off his feet with wind magic and saw one of the prince's men end the life of her attacker.

Ned had learned from working with and against magic users that they're the ones to worry the most about. He rushed an Arcymis mage and stabbed her in the back, the sword digging into her gut. He pulled the sword back out and the mage fell to the ground.

The toxic cloud passed over Duad, ignoring the knight, and collected around the enemy knight. The black cloud disappeared into his armor and filled it with toxic gas. The knight shuddered, and coughed as the poison filled his lungs. It sapped his life until he could no longer hold his lance, it fell to the ground with a clatter. With his strength sapped, he collapsed, still alive but he would bleed out shortly.

It seems suicidal to march on foot against cavalry.

The below is also why I thought this might not be the best idea: I try to keep it short, but it just keeps coming.
Reena

Reena had skirted alongside the edge of combat, sword trailing alongside the ground as she searched for an isolated combatant: a sword in the back was not something she wanted, and heading recklessly into the fray sent the chances of that that from a possibility to a likelihood; worse still was the cavalry, the thought of bones crushed beneath the hooves of war-stallions sent a chill down her spine: she'd seen it before, and it wasn't nice.

It wasn't long before her presence was noticed, a single axe-bearing barbarian coming out to meet the lone woman. He came out full sprint, all two hundred pounds of him, his flab protruding from the large gaps in his make-shift leather. He didn't bother stopping before aiming his first swing, axe arking wildly for the woman's face as he passed alongside her; it was deftly blocked, Reena's sword rising to parry, before the girl spun on her feet to meet him the other way around. He'd barely turned himself and he was on the offensive; clearly out of breath now after his short sprint, though adrenaline kept him pumped with the energy he needed to proceed; he swung, Reena blocked again, but this time had an idea as to how she wished to move: her blade blocked his axe mid-air, taking the momentum out of his strike, before she slashed into his waist; forcing a sharp intake of breath and a weakening of his posture; they'd locked eyes, the man knowing his time was up, before the woman plunged her sword through the gaps in his leather and between his ribs.

He could have died there, Reena didn't know; her blade had just been retracted from his chest when she felt herself being pushed violentally from behind, a winged pegasi landing on her back. She erupted with a scream as she collapsed into the ground; it's full weight sending her into the ground, leaving her barely holding to her blade. Disorientated, she wildly slashed up, doing more damage that she knew: killing the Pegasi with a lucky impact with some organ that she didn't know; but it's rider remained, going for his own blade as to finish the killer of his pegasi off. Reena could only lie there, thrashing wildly, as the rider dismounted.

Anyone with an eye on Reena would have spotted this.

Spoiler:
I kinda wanted an interaction with Reena outside of being told to buzz off so I'll help out.
Still close to the main Ormican body, and dodging arrows by the skin of his teeth as he went, he stopped and slid behind a rock to catch his breath, as he looked back saw a grounded pegasus and a dismounted rider brandishing a sword jumping off his mount. Hurriedly he opened his tome and muttering under his breath searched for the spell. Finally having found it he raised his hand and read off the spell as fast as he could, from his hand shot a faster than usual bolt of compressed air and it slammed into the rider's chest directing the shock of the impact through his armor and shattering his sternum and fracturing his ribs. Though the shot wasn't lethal enough to kill it was all Gale had time for and it handily knocked the soldier over into unconsciousness. Then turning his attention to the pegasus he turned to a bookmarked page and read another air blast spell that sapped quite a bit of energy, from his position a stronger jet of air collided into the pegasus and knocked it back a couple of feet hopefully giving Reena a shot at getting on her feet. Gale however had now shown his position to nearby rider, as he ducked back down into cover a slew of arrows came over the rock where his head was making him a little hesitant to stick his head out and check on Reena immediately.

Daud would have helped his ally, but he was too focused on the battle all around him to notice. He decided to split the Indartian force apart even further, and made a beeline for the Indartian commander. A cavalier intercepted him and struck Daud with his lance. The blow punctured, and drew a little blood from his left arm, but was by no means debilitating--quite the opposite from the knight's counterattack. Daud pierced the cavalier's midsection, causing the severely wounded rider to slump out of the saddle and be dragged around by his horse, foot caught in the stirrup. He would bleed to death within a minute.

Daud continued on course to attack the commanding paladin. He was a little wounded, but still quite fit to fight.

Reena

Reena flailed wildly beneath the pegasi, hoping to catch whatever might come near her: it could very much be the end, she knew, as her opponent drew near - though, from where, she did not know. It was then that a sharp 'crack' erupted by her position, followed by the sound of someone exhaling in a manner that could only be described as violent: confusion caught here, but even the strangeness about her did not prepare her for the winged-horse being suddenly blown clear of her body. She sighed in relief, presuming one of her allies had dealt with the threat; though, even stranger, a cursory glance upwards and sideways left her spotting no friend. It was several moments before she herself got up, luckily mostly uninjured by her encounter, and headed towards her near-killer.

He was breathing, she noticed, on standing closer: his chest beat slowly up and down; the breathing itself however was ragged - the man had broken ribs, she suspected. There was no further analysis after that: she plunged her blade through the gap in his helmet, splitting his skull. It came out with a grisly squelch, covered in even more gore. "Little [&@%!]." And then she turned away, the image of man's destroyed face cleared from her mind: forgotten, and began to edge towards the raging battle; waiting on her next victim to show himself - one eye, thereafter, always looking upward.

I'm going to leave it here for a bit: wait until one of the boss characters show themselves before posting again: there's no way she's going to be able to carve her way through.

Having lead the charge, Faye garnered much of the attention of the combatants. She cut a swath into a chaotic position in the center of things and leapt off of her horse, landing on the ground with a thud. She immediately began slashing left and right with her sword, fighting like a woman possessed while a few others came to support her.

First came Silas, leaping over a fallen soldier to bring his blade down upon a soldier approaching Faye's back, felling him and opening up a space next to the experienced Estean captain for Silas to fight. Watching Faye's back, Silas went to work with his blade to repel those who came close.

Kasumi came next, slowly advancing and choosing her targets carefully despite the mayhem of the situation. Though her actions were slow, they were effective and lethal, and she was able to make it to Faye and Silas to support them as well. All the while Alora continued her hit-and-run strikes in the air, deftly outmaneuvering the fliers of Ormica. These three held their position against what soldiers turned their attention from the other forces to attack the Esteans.

The prince, in the meantime, advanced with Ririka at his side to attack the fringes of the overall conflict, not yet confident enough to take on more harsh combat situations. With rapier in hand, he held his sword low as usual as a footsoldier of Indartis approached with sword in hand, making the first move with a bold overhand slice.

Isaac deftly dodged with a sidestep to the left and thrust forward, striking the soldier in the hip, and then drew his blade back to slice at an opening. The soldier instinctively brought his sword up and parried the slice away, buying him a few moments; these moments were taken by Ririka's blade as it bit into his neck. The prince nodded to Ririka in thanks and then turned his attention to other matters; including what would soon happen to Naomi.

Naomi, standing near Cael to keep him safe, was startled when the archer managed to provoke a pegasus knight with his near misses. The rider had his mount swoop downwards in an erratic flight pattern (as was the norm for Pegasi riders to throw archers off) and went to collide with Cael.

Thinking quickly, the azure-haired thief pushed Cael out of the way and relied on her instincts to tell her what to do as the winged steed careened towards her. Unfortunately, her instincts told her to grab whatever she could and hold on tight, and before she knew it Naomi was yanked off of the ground as she tightly gripped the harness of the pegasus, too close to the mount to stab at but well within the rider's attention.

___

The paladin noticed Daud's approach and solemnly nodded, leaping off of his steed and raising his steel lance. "You seem a true knight, sir. Might I have the honor?" he asked, preferring to duel his opponent honorably 'as a knight should'.

Nearby Indartian soldiers heeded their captain's intention and spaced out to focus on other targets. If nothing, they seemed an honorable bunch.

___

Duncan approached Reena's location and waved his staff in the air to mend what may have ailed her, then turned his attention to the prince's position and Daud's duel.

"I work to retake my homeland!" Daud replied to the captain. "I accept your challenge. And if your men hold value for their lives, they should leave immediately, if I should win." He raised his iron lance in preparation for the paladin's charge. Under his helm, he grimaced; the paladin was at an advantage, having better quality arms and more force behind his lance. He had thoughts of using his killer lance, but decided against it. More fighting ahead. If I should live past this hour, I should save it for when it is needed more.
