Roleplay help?
I'm going to be starting a new character and I was hoping some of you could help me with some ideas for potential roleplay encounters, quests that would be fitting, etc.
The character will be a redheaded (Probably) Nord woman. She'll be an archer and a mercenary, probably going to use fur and forsworn armor.
Just normal RP suggestions (Things like having her sleep in inns, etc) are fine, but if there are more advanced ideas that's fine as well. I'm accepting any kind of ideas.
If anyone even has more M-rated/adult ideas, please just send them in a message ;P

Re: Roleplay help?
One of my harder roleplay commitments was playing my character as poor to start out with. I did the usual looting and stuff at the start because I wanted to have resources for gear at higher levels but essentially I ignored any money I already had when it came to the basic needs of my character. This meant trying to eat three times a day but no buying food unless you stole the coin to pay for it otherwise get what food you can for free from your friends or steal it. Additionally no carriages or inns unless you steal to pay for it and try to find a place to sleep every night.
Not an option for you because you're not on PC but having a mod installed that demanded my character eat and sleep actually put a lot pressure on those simple restrictions.

I'm not a huge fan of that, I'd rather just loot realistically the whole time..

Re: Roleplay help?
The problem is you need to give your character more depth. what are her values, Does she want a husband or children or maybe not? does she like money or its only there for survival only, does she have interest in old history, maybe a racial culture she wants to learn about. Does she have interest in the dark arts or is more on the holy good guy side or neutral. How does join feel about nature, or is she reckless when it comes to nature. There is alot to think about when making a rpg character if you want it to come alive which it sounds like thats what your going for not just a quest runner.
Give us some more info and I and others will offer what we can. Hope this helps.
I myself am playing a character that will only use blunt weapons and see's himself as a cleric of Mara. So he doesnt kill unless attacked. Not having a bow or ranged magic is tough. He is a family man but worries about there safety out in the wilderness of Falkrief hold so he leaves a steward and a housecarl to watch over them. I decided it was good to help Illia with her mother who was under the evil influences of the hagravens. Hes having trouble deciding what to do with Serana since shes a vampire but as she says she a small dot in the bigger picture. Plus he is watching to see if she feeds on any unwilling or if she feeds on animals who give it freely. I carry books about the Gods, Deadric lords and and Deadra to study. He will help The Deadric lord Meridia but not use her sword since she has similar values about undead. His ally is the priest of Mara in Dawnstar and has helped him remove the staff and cult that was threating Dawnstar. He does not know he's dragon born yet and may never know. At this point Im not sure were to go but as my character travels and offers aid to the people Im sure he will find new threats to humanity to solve.

Re: Roleplay help?
Values: Succeeding in life, in other words doing whatever it takes to get large amounts of gold.
Relationship goals: She's lesbian and marriage isn't a priority because she doesn't want someone to slow her down, at least not until she has a place to live.
Morals: Chaotic neutral. She just wants what's good for herself and will use any means she has to.

Re: Roleplay help?
Ok assuming you will fight, steal or kill for what ever you want. Not just gold I assume. The goal is to be wealthy is there anything she wants beside money a special dagger or certain collectable vase. Maybe a specific staff? You might want to be a collector of rare items that cant begotten any other way. Similar to the story of guys who steal stuff from the rich or a country then sells it to a certain fithy rich collector who will seal it in there vault with no intention of sharing it with the world. Books would be a good way to do this type of thing or artifacts. The fun is not in the stealing but in having it after the theft and knowone has any idea. Collecting items from Jarls and people of importance is another idea. Going further This can become kind of wierd on the basis of how far you take the mental issue involved on other stuff like the guy who broke into houses to steal women underwear.
This can tie into the theives guild if you want it too since after aquiring the specail items they can be taken off the shelf in the thieves guild after the quest for said item is over and you were paid for it.
As for a place to live this can be done by level 15 easy. so I would'nt use this for a guage.
If you want you could find a fellow cat burglar who is of the same mind to help with quest if thats a goal.
Or go out as a bounty hunter collecting dept on dead or alive payments. The Companions.
You could just run around stealing gold from people.
Another idea is keep up a front, nice house, wife and kids, be friends with the whole town and secretly your a scooma dealer in another area or drug lord with Yasolda working for you and shes just the middle man.
Secret Assassin living in suburbia. Dark Brotherhood maybe.
On the other side of things you could be a high dollar prostitute going to the house of rich men or women sleep with them and remove items as payment, I mean why not the Arentino kid pays you with a 100 septim silver plate. The trick is dont get caught since the guards and or other partner might get upset. or the person you slept with if your still there in the morning.
Depends on how far you want to take your game or how weird.

Well I think that's all I have in terms of fresh ideas right now but recycling is cool right? Non-Brotherhood Assassin and Unorthodox Roleplays both have great ideas in them if you haven't taken a look yet.

Re: Roleplay help?
If you were on a PC I could give you all sorts of ideas that are tied to mods. Vanilla game wise its just harder, in my opinion, to role play. If your going to be roaming around and carrying everything with you things get easier. If you want a home base with some safe storage your going to have to live a dual life and be a good guy in one hold and its main town, then do your thing in other areas.
Since your stuck having to use the vanilla start, being on a console, I would go with the main quest up to Dragon Rising. This will make you Thane of Whiterun and let you buy Breezehome. its a good starting home. Then ignore the main quest until your ready to do it, if you ever are. I rarely do any more.
From your description the good guy version of your idea would be to settle down in Whiterun and join the Companions. The bad guy version would involve the Dark Brotherhood and I'm not sure what you would use as a safe base to store things due to the things that happen during the DB quest line.
There is one option of a having a free home and not being tied to one hold as the good guy. Go pick a fight with Uthgerd the Unbroken. Once you win the fight she will be available as a follower. Have her follow you then trade items with her. You can take her house key out of her inventory. You can then use her home as your own since she never ever goes there. I have done this many times with a new character. There is one flaw though. Some of the containers in her home tend to mark things as stolen when you go to retrieve them from the chests.
One thing I have done in the past is pick a faction I am opposed to and I will focus on attacking them where ever I find them. Groups like the Foresworn, Bandits, the Thalmore, etc. I even did one play through where I had a undeclared war going on with both the Imperial Legion and the Stormcloaks and I would attack their camps and patrols when ever I came across them. I blamed both sides for waging a war in Skyrim and killing innocent bystanders that were caught in the crossfire.
Another idea, assuming you like to mine and do black smithing. Be a roaming miner and make your way from one mine to another. You can either sell or use the ore you mine. There are plenty of fights to be had on the roads during the trip from one mine to the next. You could do something similar with Alchemy and visiting the different holds collecting ingredients.

Re: Roleplay help?
be a hunter who also is a member of the thieve's guild.
as a thief type you might get involved in the shady workings of the east empire company and eventually fall in line with Maven Blackbriar and join up to fight for the empire, which is the smart move for business in Skyrim
on your travels you might investigate the silverbloods (in Markarth) - they are a big biz organisation and quests relating to them and Markarth get you locked up with the foresworn king and access to forsworn related items. Every Jarl has a mission or two, so your hunter/thief background would be useful if you take on bounties
Thestealth skill perks tend to give more gold and loot so you'd be developing them on the way, smithing is a brilliant way of making money (get the transmute spell, mine iron ore, trans it into gold, make jewellery, sell it on to the merchants you know) and will allow you to kit yourself out in the best gear. Alchemy will also allow you to brew poisons and make potions which can be sold.
Of all the groups you can join i thought the thief guild missions were amongst the most fun and the story is pretty epic. Your character might even fall for Nocturnal if you ever got to meet her..

Re: Roleplay help?
Yeh. This is super true. You probably know best what you're willing to do to immerse yourself in your game world. I think some people take RPing way too far, and I'm sure most people think I do too. RPing is fairly personal.ShawnDriscoll wrote:Role-play means something else to any person you ask.
I'd suggest you sleep and eat regularly. That's about it. Maybe go hunting once in a while if you think it fits your character. Small things like that can be therapeutic while not being particularly demanding or time-consuming.
Something I wanted to try was a no-armor build. It helps with sneaking for rangers and cutthroats, and cuts down on weight a bit too. I can never go through with it since I like the enchantments and look of Thieve's Guild Armor. Muffle is one hell of an enchantment.
EDIT: Another good RP suggestion is to avoid fast traveling. I wouldn't do it all the time, but it's a good way to discover new things.
