Holy frozen [&@%!], I just saw an image of that card, and seriously? -8 for gaining 100 life. 100 life. Not 5, 10, or 20, 100. ...Wow. That's kind of totally ridiculous. I'm not sure how I feel about that. Having it in a green/white deck (one of which I am in the middle of constructing) would be cool. Playing against someone who has and uses it would be a slap across the face.

Well, chances are that you opponent won't allow you to put that many counters on him. Planeswalkers are often at high risk of getting killed as soon as they enter the battlefield.

Made a deck that can have unlimited turns by turn 5 in theory.

In the long run, maybe, but to competitively play at Modern you have to shell out ~$100 per land (fetch lands).

You can have a solid Modern deck without fetch lands.

Didn't say solid, I said competitive. :P

Big difference, though. Especially with all the Modern decks that can win on turn two or three.

Made a pretty simple aggro deck. Standard. Black n red. Lots of minotaurs. Lots of ways and means to damage life. Also making a black and blue and a green/white.

I meant solid as well as competitive. My deck can win by turn five, but that is most likely not going to happen as an opponent probably will try to stop me from winning, because we all know Magic is about winning!

I see it's my turn to post now... come on, you guys, join the cool ranks and keep this thread going.

Anyway, I went to draft yesterday, ended at 1st place (shared with three others, because we were only six players). Rolled some really nice cards, Brimaz, Xenagos (god) and Courser of Kruphix among others :D

No, I played a Gruul themed creature deck (with a blue splash) with few other spells than creatures of course I had some ramp cards and enchantment creatures to trigger my small heroic creatures. Pulled off the same combo twice hitting for 9 in turn 4... the reason I didn't play Naya was because I didn't roll Brimaz doing the draft, but in a booster I won.

Made top 8 at my local FNM! Could have made top four if I hadn't been nice about a guy saying, "Oh man, I could have done this." And rewind the game so he could dissolve my spell. Had a blast either way. :)

Friday Night Magic is planned on a terrible day, that's the day I am the most drunk. Going to a Conspiracy draft the 12th, looking forward to that, hoping to pull an Exploration or two.
Got half a display not too long ago, best pull: Domri Rade, although I traded cards for him and didn't really pull him, but my friend was fair about it and said "hey, I've already pulled one planeswalker from the display, it's only fair you get one too"
Bought some boosters today, best pull in my opinion, Garruk, Caller of Beasts. Now I just need Xenagos, the Reveler, to complete the line-up in my fatties/aggro B/R deck. Although, Garruk Wildspeaker would probably come in more handy than Caller of ... in this deck.

I attended a Conspiracy draft yesterday, first pull; Exploration!! We didn't see a single Swords to Plowshares!!! Damn.
Besides that I got a lot of cool stuff like Deathrender, Terastodon, Lore Seeker (lulz! We added a Coldsnap booster with mostly unusable cards, I fetched the two snow lands in that one), Spiritmonger, Mirran Crusader (I won a Mirrordin Besieged booster :P ) and lots of other cool stuff.
Oh also, I ended up on 3rd place.

I miss playing this with my bro and some friends at a local hobby shop where I used to live. I went back to visit my bro (who still lives there) and the shop has sense closed down.

The one problem I had with the game was the lack of balance in some cases but maybe I was just playing in the wrong crowd. A lot of guys had played for years and years and spent a lot of time and money to build nearly unbeatable decks and ended up falling back on a basic beast deck with a few elves and mana instants to hope and overpower the opponent before they could launch their full strategy and beat me in one or two turns with an infinite combo or something.

My brother was really bad about that, he would base his entire decks on infinite combo's and brag about it constantly if he managed to get what he needed.

Aren't there like... hero cards or something in the game now?

I won my first Conspiracy draft the Saturday after it released. Ended up pulling an Exploration in one of my prize packs. Would have been awesome in the actual draft!

Yeah that's what they're called, I remember now. I wish I could go back to those days when I played. I had a great job back then, a decent girlfriend, a nice place to rest my head, etc... If I have one piece of advice to give it's to never live in a rural area.

Getting together with some pals and playing MtG at the local hobby shop was great after a few drinks and a Wendy's Baconator on a Saturday.
