With the way things are going I'd rather make bets on how many games will be played with makeshift goalposts of jackets and shoes... hmm, that just gave me feel a huge blast from the past though.

Truth be told I don't watch much football these days, but I'm rooting for Belgium as of now. Why you ask? chocolate makes me happy.

Looks like My country beat spain 5 to 1. I did not see that coming. Spain was always considered very hard to beat.

My main reason for being happy about today's unforeseen events: My one friend is the most blatant bandwagoner I've ever met, and he was all for Spain earlier in the day. I checked Twitter after the game: he stopped tweeting after the third goal, and didn't tweet again until after he changed his avatar from Spain's flag to Argentina's. I may start cheering for the Netherlands now. :P

I have 2 cuban friends who wanted spain to win. They were so devastated. I had to raise their spirits a bit. They'll be fine now. Still the first goal was the spanish one and I was like.. oh so these guys are gonna run us over again. Then I heard about our first 2 goals and started watching. XD

don't forget, in the last world cup,, Spain lost the opener also, but came back and ran the table to win it, of course they didn't get clobbered like this last time. I was going to pick them again this year, cause i wanted to see if they could win 4 major tournaments in a roll, but instead decided to go with the Homeland pick, Portugal

Normally I would pick Germany if I wasn't following, but it seems like the Netherlands have some good prospects going for them.

They have the most votes in the poll, so they at least have that going for them. I'm still pulling for Other. They're tied for second with one vote right now!

I choose Other, all on the hopes that the Klingons will arrive to participate. A Klingon would never flop down, looking for a yellow card, even if they were full-on body-slammed by an opposing player.

I briefly entertained the notion of Imperial Stormtroopers. But then the ball would never go into the net.
Baurus: Our job is to get the Emperor out of situations like this. Though I'll admit, things aren't going exactly to plan.

Casandra: At the moment, the deadliest weapon at my disposal is a goblin's head on a stick. I'd be worried if this was the plan.

I don't care that much for football (still Dundalk FC and Ireland, woot, woot) and Ireland aren't in it but I'm rooting for Japan. When in doubt, go for the country with Pikachu as their mascot.

Lost Others or Game of Thrones Others? If the latter, I'd pick them.

But really, I pick Brazil because the refs favor the home team.

Don't really follow the sport, though thus far it seems that Kerr has made the most persuasive argument.

Actually, he's a Liverpool fan. I'd say that that's almost worse, but he also likes Real Madrid, so it's definitely worse.

England vs. Italy in an hour. Should be a good game. I don't think either team really has what it takes to win the tournament this year, but at least we'll see just how well they stack up, especially now that Costa Rica's upset of Uruguay will have shaken up a lot of predictions for the group.
Start the groove.

What sucks is that this year, I don't have a tv. The nearest place to my house that I can watch the games at is my restaurant job, but they don't always have the sound on. Does anyone know how the games can be watched online? World Cup is my heart and I can't live if I don't watch these games!

I don't know about watching but you can listen to it on Tunein its a free, plus if you have a smart phone or Ipad, you can download the App and listen on those also, that's what i do, no TV and my computer doesn't have sound, so listen on my Ipad and phone when driving

Do I realistically think the US can win it all? No, but you always support your country. No ifs, ands or buts.

Our opener is in a few hours versus Ghana and you bet your ass we are looking for revenge.

I'm also fairly certain every single goal in this tournament has either been a PK or a header. And just a [&@%!] ton of goals already as well. It's making for an interesting watch.

I can't say I'm optimistic, Ghana has kicked our ass for a long time now.
