Good lore-friendly armour/weapon mods?
I'm considering playing Oblivion again, but I'm not that excited about most of the armour sets in the game, nor about the limited weapon variety. I tried to find good, lore-friendly or historically accurate armor and weapon mod compilations, but came up empty. The bigger packs seem to be either anime stuff and/or skimpy chainmail bikinis. So, is there anything even near the calibre of Skyrim's Jaysus' Swords, Roman Imperial Armor Replacer, Immersive Armors etc.? Mostly I would like things that aren't overpowered and are realistic.

Well Oblivion was and is the Derpiest elder scrolls game in creation so it's not like you're going to be missing out on that much with or without an armor mod...
There's the Silmarillion Armor Mod that's.... iffy... on the realism... that said,
Most of Oblivion's weapons actually are historically accurate along with the armor. Nothing is ridiculously oversized (except with the bound gear) and nothing is completely dysfunctional... well the light armors I guess are a tad ridiculous but besides those.
Edit
So... no.
Jaysus was a gift.

Re: Good lore-friendly armour/weapon mods?
Thanks for replies! Well, no can do then. I stick to my trusty Kvatch armor then. Too bad the steel sword is useless after lvl 10 or so, because it's the best-looking weapon in the game IMO.
True enough. Still, after modding the stupid level scaling away, it's very enjoyable. Too bad there isn't a way to replace a few voice actors. I had almost forgotten how bad some of them are.Well Oblivion was and is the Derpiest elder scrolls game

You could easily mod yourself in some level-appropriate gear using your preferred models. Make a few steel swords with increased damage and stick them in a cellar.

Baurus' smile almost made me quit the game. That and Emperor Septim's eyes...Nord85 wrote:Thanks for replies! Well, no can do then. I stick to my trusty Kvatch armor then. Too bad the steel sword is useless after lvl 10 or so, because it's the best-looking weapon in the game IMO.

Re: Good lore-friendly armour/weapon mods?
Oh, yes, the faces. I still can't understand what the devs were thinking. That's the other thing I absolutely have to mod better. The best face mod IMO is the Oblivion Character Overhaul v 1.2. I love it because it fits very seamlessly into the world. That is, the textures seem to be vanilla size and colour (only the discoloured skin bug seems to be fixed). Besides, many NPCs still remain ugly, only they are now natural ugly, not deformed-looking. I like that better than those mods that make everyone unnaturally gorgeous and smooth-skinned.
On topic: I searched some more and actually found a medieval armour and weapon mod: http://www.nexusmods.com/oblivion/mods/41040/?. Too bad it's a replacer, so I won't install it. That's because I don't want so much to replace the vanilla gear as to get more variety. Maybe I should try my hand with the construction set and add those sets to leveled lists. Too bad the last time I modded any Elder Scrolls game was with Morrowind some five years ago. And then I only managed to make a half-finished island mod I never uploaded anywhere. Got the terrain, flora and a Nordic-style village up, then abandoned the whole thing when my computer decided to fry itself.
