Arellius Afer III - Ship

Arellius squinted his eyes, somewhat bewildered, as the Dunmer retreated from the room, leaving him alone.

He wasn't quite sure if he was supposed to have gotten anything out of Raylis' words. He hadn't, in any case.

Llela turned her head slightly, and kissed Vana lightly on the head as she thought. "I dunno." She said after a moment, her ruby eyes distant. "I guess that's what we signed up for when we decided to be adventurers, eh? Never knowing where we'll rest our heads at night. Though... If I remember that poster in Cheydinhal correctly, it's less where you're going than who you're going there with."

[Alarra]

Had she seen it, Niralie would have commented on Sinyail's magic. She had, however, already drifted off into much-needed sleep.

On Deck

"I think I'll head back in, now." Valentia mentioned to Per. "Pleasure talking to you... Don't think we don't trust you. We're all just tired people."

With that being said, Valentia proceeded to head back to the cabins, quickly becoming lost having forgotten which one she was in previously. Getting nervous that she was looking like a fool, she chose the nearest one to her at the time; the cabin that Arellius was resting in.

Stepping in cautiously, she jumped a little when she saw Arellius. "Oh! I'm sorry, I thought this was a different cabin."

Arellius had been drifting off when the girl entered, interrupting such.

"Urgh," he grunted perturbedly, and lifted his head from where it lay to gaze across at the intruder, recognising her immediately. "Somethin' y'want?" he followed up with. His hand dropped discreetly and fastened itself about the hilt of his left blade, the steel tanto, and he locked eyes with the one at the door. Valeria or Valencia or V-something, he couldn't remember quite what: though, one thing he could remember was that, like Niralie, he'd tried murdering her and, like Niralie, he didn't trust her.

Valentia - Ship

Valentia remembered the man from earlier, and of course was quite wary of him. "No, I just... thought this was a different cabin. I'm quite lost." she responded truthfully, fighting back the urge to ready a fireball. "I've hardly traveled by ship in the past, this is still rather new to me."

Arellius gave a disgruntled shake of his head: she'd him up now.

"Ships are tha'worst sorta transport, y'ask me: cramped'n usually wi'people ye'don't like. 'Least on foot y'can take'a break from'em." His tone was suggestive but not threatening: he doubted the girl was here to do him harm - if she even could manage such - and so had relaxed somewhat past his immediate reaction. He sighed next. "And this one's prob'ly gonna be a long journey; took weeks gettin' over."

Valentia - Ship

"Weeks? Oh my." Valentia said, frowning slightly. "I'm just worried about how boring it's going to be... Most of my reading material got ruined when we were running from the city."

Avoiding looking directly at Arellius, Valentia continued. "What are you going to do, if we're going to be on this ship for so long?"

Arellius squinted slightly at the mention of reading: he didn't read good; never learned.

He shrugged in response to the question: "sleep?" He followed it with a dismissive shake of his head. "Practice wi'me sword either? it's wha' I did tha'whole way over."

Valentia - Ship

"Oh, the sword. Yes, right, you are quite a warrior..." she said more to herself as she recalled her first encounter with the man and her first impressions. "I don't mean to impose, but... have you ever taught what you know about the blade to anyone?"

Arellius had smirked somewhat at being labelled 'quite a warrior': the girl clearly hadn't encountered many warriors if she valued his skills to any extent.

"Ughh.." He was caught somewhat off-guard by her question. "No. I've noh'; never. Nobodies ever asked.

Valentia - Ship

Valentia cleared her throat nervously. Why was she even asking him this? She had intended on learning a bit of swordplay from various places to have something to write about, but was he really the best one to ask?

Well, it's not like I'll be able to speak to the Grand Champion of the Arena in my lifetime. She thought to herself, sighing. "Well... I'm asking now. To pass the time on the voyage, if nothing else. Would you be willing to part a bit of what you know?"

Arellius had seen the intent in the last question and so wasn't surprised by the follow up. It still took a few moments before he'd begun responding however: he usually wouldn't see the harm in making sure that his allies knew how to fight, though usually his allies didn't have good reason to murder him with the skills he might impart. He sat up his hammock, the hand clenching the blade-hilt become visible a moment, before gazing across, a decision reached. The thought of getting murdered by the slight, teenage girl, he concluded, was laughable.

"I can teach ye some moves: how t'strike prop'ly, how t'defend yerself if someone attacks, how t'parry, but teaching ye t'use a sword prop'ly truley; tha'takes experience." He paused a moment, before continuing. "Ye can know how t'fight, but in tha' heat o'the moment it's gonna take more than tha', knowin' how t'react counts for anythin' more than I can teach ye."

Valentia

"I understand." Valentia replied. "Truthfully this is more for scholarly reasons... Something to write about, but... it wouldn't hurt to actually know how to swing a blade when spell isn't the best choice. Thank you, ah..." she began, but stopped when she realized that she had forgotten the man's name.

"It's 'Rellius." He paused a moment, before adding: "And yer Valencia, righ'? Raylis really should'a introduced us all before he stuff'd us all on'a ship t'gether."

Valentia - Ship

"Valentia." responded the Breton. "I still hardly know anyone among us. Save for Niralie and Psyfalia, anyway. Pleased to make your acquaintance, Arellius." she continued with a courteous bow.

"Valentia" Arellius pronounced the name softly to himself. He smirked to himself at the bow - 'how decidedly regal', he thought, deciding that the girl must be from money at that - and followed up with a short nod. "Nice t'make yer acquai'ance too then, Valentia," he responded. It felt somewhat strange pronouncing 'acquaintance': he'd never used the word before. "And ... um .." There was a short pause before he finished: "I'm sorry 'bout tha'little misunderstandin' a'Suran. There was nothin' personal 'bou'it."

Valentia was rather taken aback by the apology, having not expected such. "Oh, well... Think nothing of it. I think we were all lost in the chaos of things. We're all alive and in this together, there's no need to expect a dagger in the back from everyone." she said, hoping what she said didn't sound foolish. "I'll be in the cabins with Niralie in the others, find me there when you want to begin. Unless you're not too tired to start the lessons now."

Arellius gave a short nod.

"I'll star'teachin' ye later. I want'a catch some rest now: been up too long." He paused a moment, before adding: "I'll find ye, wherever y'are when I'm up, 'kay?"

Valentia - Ship

"Very well. Rest well." Valentia responded, giving another bow. She was truthfully thankful he had decided to do so later; she was just as tired as everyone else was.

Her business there concluded, Valentia exited the cabin and went back to her own. She found it easily this time.

[MARS]

Llevana gave a chuckle. "I suppose it is. I'm glad you're with me for it, still." She gently broke the embrace, though she kept Llela's hand in hers, pulling her towards the stairs. "Let's get some sleep; I imagine we won't be getting much, according to our scaly friend at least."

Sethesi had meanwhile fallen asleep in her hammock.

Psyfalia closed her eyes after staring at the ceiling for a few more seconds and yawned. She drifted off into sleep a few minutes later.

[Per]

Deck

Per couldn't bring himself to go to the seasickness-hell that was a crampt cabin with a hammock. Instead, he was determined to stay in fresh air on deck and so he did not join the others downstairs, regardless of how tired he was. Eventually he fell asleep, sprawled out on the wooden deck.

Arellius gave a grunted adieu before lying back in his hammock.

He was asleep within a few minutes.
