Mefris is probably right, but I'm going to guess Alchemy because it can do a lot of the same things, and because the line "But beware, for the price may be your life" could refer to eating the wrong ingredient when low on health could kill you.

It's Telekinesis, although it would probably go with the stars in the skill menu as well.

...and because the line "But beware, for the price may be your life" could refer to eating the wrong ingredient when low on health could kill you.

That line actually refers to the Equilibrium spell. Every line in the riddle is meant to represent one Alteration spell effect from the base game.
