Hello, everyone! Once again, I'm having trouble with the Construction Set causing unexpected side-effects in-game. This time, I decided to replace Arrille with a custom (albeit not-too-detailed) character. After doing so, I figured I'd edit the dialogue around Seyda Neen to match, and finally rename the cell "Seyda Neen, Arrille's Tradehouse." After having done so, I tried to enter the new cell in-game - all went fine there. But when I turned around to exit, the door was missing!
After playing around in the editor to figure out what was going on, I noticed two things: one, that the missing door still showed up on the render window, and two, that the cell "Seyda Neen, Arrille's Tradehouse" still existed (alongside the cell that replaced it). While the door on the building (outside, in Seyda Neen itself) itself led to the new cell, the Static DoorMarker was still linked to the door from the old cell. Furthermore, for some reason, I couldn't edit this, since when I was on the window to edit the Doormarker, everything below reference data (except the options related to positioning and stuff) was grayed-out.
I was finally able to delete the Static DoorMarker that was associated with the old cell's exit door by un-checking the "teleport" box, revealing a similar DoorMarker that referenced the new cell directly underneath the DoorMarker I had just deleted. However, upon entering the new cell in-game to see if this fixed the problem, I still didn't see the missing door.
Now, fresh out of ideas on how to fix this problem, here I am asking for help.
Renamed interior cell has no exit door!

The Construction Set isn't doing anything. You're causing the side effects.jadebrain wrote:I'm having trouble with the Construction Set causing unexpected side-effects in-game.
Klinn's Advice To New Morrowind Modders wrote:The Help file implies that when you use Ctrl-D to “Duplicate” objects, you can then immediately move the duplicates to a new location. But after using Ctrl-D, it’s the original objects that are still selected, not the new duplicates. So if you do a move, it will be the original objects that will end up in the new location, not the duplicates. For most objects, this doesn’t make any difference. But if you were to copy a building, including its entrance door, the original door ends up in the spot you moved the supposedly “duplicate” building. The door will still be set to teleport back to the original interior cell, while the door left behind has no teleport target yet so it looks like it doesn’t work any more. It’s a mess to clean up. My advice: don’t include doors when you are selecting objects to duplicate.

Interesting. I haven't previously heard of that site you're quoting from - it's hard to find much for Morrowind these days, with many websites where such content used to be now host to domain name sellers.
So I tried the link in at the top of the quote, and lo and behold, the site was still there. Unfortunately, I couldn't find much advice for what I'm trying to do other than what you've already given me, which is what I shouldn't do. I want to know what I should do, and so far I haven't found it. Of course, that may also be a problem on my end - I just got up from what would have been a good night's sleep (were it not for my sleep apnea) about an hour ago, and it usually takes a around four hours before I'm able to effectively maintain consciousness. Ah well...
I guess I should try looking again later, but you seem to know it better than I do. I'm not saying you do the research for me, but if the information just isn't there, I'd appreciate a heads-up, at the very least... and, given my erratic ability to understand certain concepts, I may need further help even if the information is there.

Sometimes objects can be difficult to spot in the 3D rendering window. Furthermore, when utilizing the good old mass copy/paste technique, some objects may have been pasted in the wrong place; "out in the grey", as it were, parsecs away from everything else. The best way to be sure is to scour the cell's object list. You can click on a particular object and it will select and zoom to it in the 3D window.
Also, the door itself needs a teleport destination. Double-click the door to bring up a properties window where this can be edited.
This might explain it more succinctly.
