I'm not saying they should be the main quest, but should switch places with the Civil War of Skyrim.
The rest is up to Bethesda
You're defintively onto something with having the dwarves play a central role. They've been shrouded in the mists of mystery for the last four games, so it's about time they continue their story. It would be epic if they were just teleported back into Nirn and perhaps conquered everything, and we have TES VI taking place in an Dwemer controlled Tamriel.

I thought I would chime on some features for the next TES, that I want.

Before that, I would like to say, I enjoyed Skyrim very much. I liked that enhance RP features, like the homes, Hearthfire and marriage etcetera. I hope they continue to advance these features. Adding Strongholds again, like in Morrowind with the great houses would nice as well.

For basic hardcore roleplaying, I would like a simple fishing mechanic with fishing gear. If I can hunt and chop wood and mine ore, I need to be able to fish.

My biggest gripe is unique weapons and items. One of Morrowinds great features and even Oblivion to some degree were all the wacky unique weapons artifacts. In Morrowind, I wanted to travel into every hole, because you never knew what you were going to find. In Skyrim, most of the it wasn't worth it, unless it was a Shout or Dragon Mask. Also, as noted by many, the Daedric artifacts have to be unique and powerful!! They gimped that stuff.

So they really need to put extra effort into unique items. Items that look different, and have totally unique enchantments. Many of the great artifacts from previous TES games were missing in Skyrim and that was a big disappointment. I will never forget when I first got the Boots of Blinding Speed in Morrowind!

I mean come on Bethesda, no Daedric Crescent, Chrysamere, Elton Brand, Goldbrand, Umbra, SkullCrusher, Ice Blade of the Monarch, Helm of Oreyn Bearclaw, Eleidons Ward, Boots of Blinding Speed, Boots of the Apostle. I think I've made my point. The shear number of unique items in Morrowind was fantastic and collecting these things was one of the great joys of the game.

And even if it's only on one piece of gear, a jumping and levitate artifact would be nice!!!

More enchanted weapons that stink, like that add 50 weight ring that killed people in Oblivion.

More crappy weapons, like shovels, shivs, pitchforks, rakes, forks and knives. Be creative on the little stuff Bethesda!!!

More items I would like to see return. Candles, pillows, Limeware, Poisoned Apples. I really missed poisoned apples. They provided much enjoyment and laughs in Oblivion. I like much of what they have done in Skyrim, but they need to improve on these little things, because in the end TES in largely about collecting stuff, from cabbages to flowers or unique items. That's what the game is about outside of the story.

I would hope to some day be able to sit at a Throne and be a King with the added benefits that would entail. Forget, Thane, I want to run a city for once and hire my own staff and have some duties and benefits from this.

More epic Jerks like Nazeem, Fargoth, Glarthir and Adoring Fan. Heck how about some kind spell that allowed you to summon characters that you've killed in game? Not to mention keep lore going on these characters, I would love to find a ring of Nazeem or Fargoth in some deep dark cave with a wacky enchantment to boot. Like the ring of Nazeem drops your disposition and speechcraft to -30 and the ring of Fargoth instantly makes everyone in town attack you.

More NPC's in cities, in fact, I hope they come up with some sort of radiant NPC mechanic, because I had a murdering character, that like to kill towns folk, but they all had value and roles. It would be nice if there were a few more random "citizens" I could wipe off the planet without really ruining the game. So pack those cities.

Some kind of beggar role that allows the player to beg for septims when wearing the standard beggar gear, this would of course bring all the negatives along with from the towns NPC's.

In actual working gallows, that the player could bring bandits to, or find themselves on for that matter if they commit enough horrible crimes. Of course an escape option would have to be in there as well.

Another issue that annoyed me, was there simply wasn't anyone NPC or boss wearing good armor for most of the game. In Morrowind and Oblivion, there were enemies and NPC sporting advanced armors and weapons right off the bat and that often becomes a fun early challenge to either steal or kill that NPC. Skyrim is devoid on anyone wearing anything but the most common armor. I liked Morrowind better in this regard.

Bring back infamy, I want to be on posters.

These are all small ideas that I think would make the next TES really fun.

NOTE: Not sure I liked kids in the game and not in the way they were implemented in Skyrim, they all looked like creepy cabbage patch kids, no uniqueness, improve that or ditch the kids and I need to be able to kill them if they are in the game, for good or bad. I couldn't stand them as they were, but I loved the pets they could adopt in Hearthfires and I loved the dogs. Just please improve the dog commands so I don't have to worry about killing my dog every time a battle begins.

Bringing back the Dwarves would totally spoil all the mystery about them and for me personally I would hate it

^Agreed. The core shroud that makes us fathom the Dwarves is simply "where did they go" and "what happened", neither of these two should never be answered.. it's what separates them from other 'extinct' mortal races.

I'm fine seeing maybe seeing a specter that may give some insight upon their life b4 the mystery.. but nothing more. If you really want Dwarves to become a focus for a quest.. say if the next installment is in Hammerfell or High Rock, it very well could be just a mechanical Dwarven threat, rather than a physical. Be it some 'weapon of mass destruction' or a massive army about to be awaken<_< hell, the central villain could be just some fellow who is searching to abuse that power... there's alot that can be worked with there, plenty of flexibility>_> however.. depending on how it was written.. I likely wouldn't want it to be featured as the main quest.. unless it really was grand and well played.. if not, then maybe Fighter's or Mage<_<

The Dwemer are best left as a mystery as they have become a part of TES. Removing that mystery could ruin the entire race as a whole and make them less interesting. However, seeing more of their society via ruins, ancient texts and machines would be interesting. A massive army awakening would be a welcome change from facing gods as we've pretty much done that for the past 3 games. Morrowind had Dagoth Ur, who was more or less a living demigod, Oblivion had Dagon, Skyrim had the lacklustre Alduin.

The return of medium armour. Heavy and Light do have their obvious advantages but what about those who don't want to be very quick at the cost of defence or wear heavy armour at the cost of speed? True, perks do eliminate the disadvantages of it but it would be nice to see medium armour.

Very heavy and very light armour. Something like Dragon Age Origin's armour system. Plate armour would be very heavy and weigh a lot but is very strong. Very light, the opposite.

Spears. Seriously, how hard is it to implent? I'm not asking for the 300 style of spear attacks but at least a basic one. It would also give shields a much better purpose. Medium armour could come into play here as well.

More magic. Nuff said.

A much better house creation system. It would be nice to pick any spot to build on with or without permission. Build it on someone's land without their permission and you'll face attacks by hired thugs or return to see it in pieces.

A hard core mode. Something like F:NV's system but on a much deeper level with adjustable options.

I've been reading through this thread and I agree with most of your ideas Last Dovah, and I also understand your point about the dwemer, but the thing is, eventually, the Creators of our game may eventually run out of good ideas, and come the game where we finally get to play on the entire continent, Bethesda may need a hook to get us really interested. Honestly, we have been tempted and fascinated with the dwemer this whole time and I wouldn't think they would make that empty (however unspoken) promise of finally discovering their secret. I mean, eventually they will run out of lore to build on and they can't simply insert new lore into the world

I'm not saying I don't love the secrets, but...

The secret will only remain for now

The truth will be revealed XD

<edit> didn't want to double post
I'm just letting everyone know that I have completed reading through this ENTIRE thread because that's how bored I have been lately, and all the while I was compiling a list of pretty much any idea. I'll post it very soon. I just need to make some last minute adjustments and maybe take care of a few other things like maybe making a list of the most popular setting idea, list of things Skyrim did right imo, etc. If anyone needs to know anything about this thread subject, just ask

I'd love if they went back to a more procedural style of gameplay like in Daggerfall. The procedural parts of Skyrim were the best, imo. Leave the cinematic and rigid stories to other developers. Just make a ruleset and simulation and let the game play out.

So it seems hardly anyone on this topic likes Skyrim, but they did some things right. This is my list of things that I would like to be done similarly in TES: VI along with improvements they could still make

MUSIC/SOUND EFFECTS: The music made the game for me. It helped with my fascination with the game early on and made me sentimental after I had played it for awhile. Everything from roaming the streets of Whiterun to discovering Riverwood to fighting the dragon outside Kynesgrove to trying to kill everyone in Solitude as a noob was made by the music. And honestly, the sound effects were great too. Pulling out your weapon, casting a spell, discovering locations, all felt great with the sound. I would say they could make different sounds for pulling out weapons made from different material ex. ebony swords make a deeper sound when pulling them out than iron weapons

LANDSCAPE: Skyrim had an amazing design. There were some features, like waterfalls, valleys, mountains, that just made me stop and admire. So much better than real life scenery, and better than randomly generated crap. I think next game we should be able to visit a volcano. That would be cool, but I really truly dearly desperately want screenshot support for consoles. I liked how sometimes when you entered a big final room in a dungeon it would make one of the sounds when you discover a new location

COMBAT/ARCHERY: The combat usually felt pretty smooth for me. Just tap a button, tap it again, shield bash, it was great. The different speeds of each weapon were cool too, but the differences can still be improved. Maybe blades are much faster, axes have chance to penetrate armor, and blunts have chance to stagger all the time. Also, they maybe should speed up our movements just a tiny bit. As for archery, it was smooth, well executed, and fun. My favorite were the finishing moves with archery. Introduce a perk to shoot two arrows at once though it might be overpowered

MAGIC: Maybe I'm the only one that thinks so, but I though Skyrim's magic was good. Sure you don't have the customization like previous games, but there are cool effects and stuff. I liked being a mage and wearing all my mage clothes and going around with two flame thralls, fire breath shout, flame cloak, and fireball. I would say that they could add some combination spells by casting two separate spells at once in the next game maybe, and a few more effects if possible. I wouldn't mind if they brought back spell making but still had Spell Tomes. Also, the spells really need to get stronger as we level up, because the problem with being a mage is that it doesn't compare to being a warrior

ARMOR: The armor looked really cool. No question if you ask me. The weapons that went with each set were aiight, but the armor was sexy. I mean of course better graphics=better appearance, but Daedric Armor just straight up made me feel like a boss. In the next game in the series, I would suggest maybe different varieties of armor and/or different appearances of similar armor, like fur armor would be a different color if we made it from a snow saber cat pelt. Also, we should be able to wear clothes and robes under it, even if it makes us OP, and we should be able to dodge attacks while wearing light armor without a shield (goes along with combat)

DRAGONS/SHOUTS: Dragons were really the hardest creatures in the game. Maybe they are easy to us all now, but they do the most damage and have the most health. Their appearance was very nice too and the finishing move. The only improvement I would suggest is that they make even higher level dragons so that we don't get bored with them, and that they make them more rare, but also make them attack cities and such more often. Shouts were my favorite part of the game. While I am aware they probably won't be back, my heart will still be broken. I think they should at least have spells to replace effects of shouts like Storm Call, Unrelenting Force, Whirlwind Sprint, Dragonrend, and all the really unique shouts found in Skyrim

PERKS/LEVELING: The ability to only buy a certain number of perks was frustrating but it improved the Role Playing experience without attributes. This is a hard one to improve because no matter what not everyone will like it, yet there are so many possibilities. Levelling up was a thrilling part of the game too imo. That music...

To be frank, I liked skyrim, it brought new aspects to the whole field.. but it was far from perfect. Qualities of previous games certainly prevail, but they too are not perfect. If I can say anything about Skyrim.. is that the whole Dovah/Dragon era bit be done with, despite the general desire for some

One thing that really nip picked me was quests.. skyrim did so well adding personality upon the NPC's, Serana by far being a favorite, but all too often your hand is held as you walk through 'supposedly' impossible tasks. Morrowind didn't fare all too well either. Rather than holding your hand.. it left you stranded and lost. It was nice that it took some initiative, but it doesn't help if a lack of info or misdirection is placed. Oblivion, in my opinion, did well balancing the two.. guiding you when you need it but letting you take the initiative and trust that you may find your own way.. however.. if I wished to see anything make a stand in the next installment.. I would like to look to Daggerfall.

I recall to how if you wished to know of directions, subtle rumors, or some useful info.. asking the common folk did just that. Maybe they themselves don't need to tell you where a certain item in a certain dungeon is.. but they may say "Ask the fellow over at the Tavern, maybe he can help you". Nobody has all the answers.. so it helps to be the social type <_<

Also.. while I do appreciate the additions of personality we now enjoy.. not everybody needs to be significant or have some relation or the source of a quest. There literally need to be more NPC's that serve no real purpose.. that just go by on their mundane lives.. and is not some merchant.. It just helps saturate the population, making the towns and city seem more lively and believable. Give a false sense of density.. especially for small settlements. Hell, it would even be a blessing if when a fight broke out.. not every bloody Sicilian tries to jump in on the action.. some of you are suppose to be cowards.. not stealing the thunder from the guard>_>

Let's remember this thread is specifically to list the things you would like to see in the nest TES game. Not discussing what was wrong, etc in Skyrim or the other games.

I really want to travel to the Summerset Isles or Valenwood. Maybe both? It would be cool to have two provinces featured, with radically different settings/styles. And of course, a resolution to the Aldmeri Dominion.

What I think would be really cool would be more story differences based on race. For example, as above: if you're an Altmer/Bosmer/Khajiit, you can be part of an underground resistance group or something. Everyone else has to go the outside-looking-in route. (of course, being truly evil and supporting the dominion could be an option... hmm...)

And magic. Magic needs to be able to rival archery/melee late-game, plz.

Re: The Official TES VI Wishlist thread

Post by MNvikingsfan1 »

I fixed my last post to make it sound more belonging on a wishlist. Sorry about that...

Anyway, I think NPCs can be improved. They still feel too much like programs, and they don't help with immersion to their potential. Here's the list. It's straight from the entire list of improvements I made:

-Less "essential" NPC's, and if there are any, their essential status should go away after all of the character's related quests are completed. Then, make something happen when we kill them. ex. If we complete all quests related to Jarl Balgruuf, we kill him, and the town is in disorder and elect a new Jarl. They elect me if they don't know I killed him :Twisted Evil:
-MAKE FAT PEOPLE (and skinny, short, tall people, babies, toddlers, teenagers) and not look so alike!
-We need some really hot women and I personally advocate undergarments being removable XD :Twisted Evil: :Twisted Evil:
-Different races of children, and please make them less annoying, useful, or non-essential
-An EXTREMELY cool “Create an NPC” feature. Choose their race, design them like we design our own character, then choose if they can be married, be a follower, a merchant, a faction member (ex. Thieves’ Guild or Dark Brotherhood member), a guard, government official, or simple resident. Name them, give them a home, some clothes/armor, weapons or spells if they’re a mage and BOOM! (of course limit the number of created NPC’s)
-Racism, corruption, crime, especially concerning guards
-Poor people can’t reward me with 1,000 septims!
-NPC bard concerts, old people telling stories, etc. So they truly have life instead of focusing on us only
-Less generic and more personalized dialogue, and people need to have more life to them
-Let’s say we rob a house. The NPC continues like it never happened. How about they complain to us and we frame someone else, or just fund their rebuilding (the latter of which is not nearly as fun)
-Learn characters names by talking to them unless they are learned elsewhere (through quests, speech or similar)
-NPCs throughout the world should interact. They could have friends who moved across the map
-The NPC’s could visit these friends or family members, or else go out of town on business trips or tourism ex. Silverblood in Whiterun etc.
-NPC’s within our house interact too. Maybe I bring in a follower and they ask me “who’s your friend?” Or I walk in and my wife is giving my daughter the talk haha just kidding but just sharing gossip etc.
-NPCs die of old age if we play the game long enough
-Players can send gifts, love letter, threats, or peace offerings through couriers to NPC’s they have met
-More families throughout the world (You know, two parents and 1-3 children)
-Add more and better looking and more loving marriage prospects that you DON’T marry as soon as you meet them—actually know them like a close friend maybe, not necessarily dating, add divorce option
-Romantic picnic, trip to the lake, kiss + hold hands w/ your spouse etc just so they’re not mere objects
-Maybe have a legitimate kid. Cut down on pregnancy time, but have housecarl guard the family. Adoption could be an option but not the only one
-Marriage options for most or all races, but NPC’s are much less likely to marry out of their race, and, relating to the last point, could not have a child
-Also, make the spouse ask where you have been and whatnot. Add flirting with most female characters
-I saw a request for a relationship bar (and one like the Sims at that)? Not sure what it is but sounds cool as long as you can only see it by talking to the person rather than just looking at them, and doing quests for them raises it
-NPCs can say certain names (common names like Jake, Will, Adam, Bob), or better a text to speech system, and if they try hard and long enough, the system may work, and if the name is not pronounce-able, then the player gets called the name of their race
-And NPC’s get to know the character, and respect the player as he/she gains power. Basically, a reputation; we should feel like a stranger upon entering the game but the more we see and talk to NPC’s, the friendlier their dialogue is, and some that we bond with may even say hi to us daily and sacrifice their life for us
-Eventually, after taking control of so many guilds and saving the world so many times, the citizens treat us like celebrities. A trio of girls would ask for our autograph once or twice, every time we enter a city the people say “Oh, is that him!? Wow, it is him!” and the guards would welcome us and hesitate to arrest us (like real life Justin Bieber)
-Whatever infamy is it sounds good. Actually, I think that cities should put posters of me up whether it’s for fame or infamy
-Better AI: mainly for enemies, don’t make them give up their search after we sneak attack w/ a bow!
-NPCs need better facial expressions, get mad and pound their fist on the table, and not always have to follow their set routine (for example they may go to the lake for a swim one day, or get arrested, etc.)
-Becoming leader of a guild gives more power and options like ordering around members as well as making profit, but also brings responsibility, and guild members interact more: tell of their feats, laugh
-You can pay people to do certain services for you
-Stop the inconsistencies like NPCs talking about the stress the war brings... AFTER THE WAR!
-Overhaul the follower system: let us tell them what weapons, armor and strategies we want them to use. Also give them some backstory and personality, allow multiple followers, and make them better
-Would be cool if NPC’s remembered specific events like followers would remember specific adventures they had with us in specific places like “This reminds me of (place)”

Quite long, ain't it? Just wait...

Untrue. The Racial Phylogeny book states that man and mer can interbreed. It mentions that Khajiit and Argonians may be able to mate with men or mer, but is unsure. The same with Orcs, though technically, they're also mer.

I like your list, though. Even if some of it seems impossible, it's still pretty cool.

Rather interesting thought.. but to how many fans do wish to see some relation to dragons in the next major installment. Earlier on this page I commented to how a setting placed within Hammerfell or High Rock would allow the chance for a potential Dwarven Mechanical threat, like a dormant army. Here's a thing >_> Dwemer loved to animate new life, and generally when we think of their deadliest, we generally regard Centurions or other big, hulking golems.. what of a large mechanical dragon? Certainly even they could design an imitation, and it would be a grand boss for a major dungeon. I really do want to see more unique boss fights, showing new mechanics in combat and pose truly a mighty challenge.

TES VI possibilities

Post by Starfang »

I've taken a break from playing Elder Scrolls for a while and have come back to ponder the next installment. I want to tackle the naming convention of TES games first, it seems likely that number 6 will be TES VI (Elsweyr/Valenwood/Summerset/Blackmarsh,etc) going off of past naming themes Arena (non-specific place)>>Daggerfall (specific place in Tamriel)>>Morrowind (specific place in Tamriel)>> Oblivion (non-Tamriel specific)>> Skyrim (specific place in Tamriel) this is of course if Bethseda is even using a particular pattern or scheme in naming their games otherwise it could be TES VI: Tamriel for all we know.

As far as plots go, hopefully VI won't take place more than 10 years after Skyrim with the empire's collapse still fresh in the minds of everyone in Tamriel. I hope that the plot revolves around reuniting the empire, possibly through old treaties (i know it was used in Dragon Age but it could still work) unless Bethseda is set on no longer having a functioning empire.

Another possible name, if set on the Summerset Isles, could be Alinor. It seems to have a better ring to it, and the fact that Bethesda explicitly made reference to the Thalmor's renaming of the Isles could be a move by them to enable the possibility for its use as a title down the line (this obviously shouldn't be taken as proof that the next game will be set on the Isles, but Bethesda does have a history of leaving a range of various openings in the lore of games that they may or may not follow up on).

I'm not sure what to make of the idea of treaties though. It would require some retconning of existing lore, or at least an expansion of previously unconsidered lore. Certainly some treaties exist, but most of the Septim Empire's founding was conducted through violent conquest, not diplomacy.

I'd call the next game Dominion, personally, and set it in either Hammerfell or Summerset. The title could easily work for either game - as a Hammerfell setting could be under attack by the Dominion, and therefore the game would be named after the antagonizing force, like Oblivion was.

Many quests in TES V alluded to either of these provinces, or both. The Great War originally targeted Hammerfell as its primary objective (probably to gain easier access to Balferia Isle, and more practically this land is easier to control and closer to Summerset), and the surprise success in Cyrodiil wasn't planned by the Thalmor.

That leads me to believe the renewed Aldmeri assault will hit Hammerfell hardest, since that was their plan to begin with. A game set in Hammerfell in the midst of a war with the Dominion would be a wonderful opportunity to continue the underlying plot leading up to Skyrim while allowing us to study Redguard history and culture, and possibly revive the ancient tradition of Sword Singing, which would wonderfully take the place of Shouting.
Monsters are bred in labyrinths, labyrinths are bred from walls. There is a reason the Giants choose to remain nomadic rather than follow their shield kin the Nords in building permanent settlements. The Tower is the beginning of all walls.

I've heard the name Elder Scrolls: Dominion batted around before and I have to say I really like it. It has an exciting ring to it and sounds like something your going to dive deep into. I'm still hoping for Elsweyr as the setting but I've read a few good arguments for Hammerfell. I could be happy with that as the setting as well.

I would love for the next setting to be in Hammerfell if only for the possibility of sailing to Stros M'kai and potentially visiting part of High Rock and seeing a modern day Daggerfall.

Actually.. all this talk of Dominion and alot of the talk going on in here(including some of my own random banter), we really could pull together a promising draft. I mean, within Hammerfell, you can always add it portions of High Rock to help supplement the mass and create more diversity. A future DLC could always be added, bringing us back to Stros M'kai, yet another fan service nostalgia<_< With the lurking Thalmor threat, it would be nice to see their perspective of things even if they are placed as the foe. Nice to see the main quest focus on the Thalmor, but if not it can always be addressed in their first DLC, which generally use the pre-existing landscape.. Personally, I still want to see a Dwemer mechanical threat somehow worked into the plot.. and hell it may even be nice to get some additional lore behind both Spell Breaker and Volendrung.

One thing I was considering.. with the general trend of visiting new lands of Oblivion in each installment.. and now with Skyrim we walked in Aetherius, would be nice to actually visit the realm of Talos, add some weight to the whole issue. And just for the kicks.. would be funny to see the Brass God not that far off  However if we were to talk of Oblivion.. I do think we may have our fill with Online, but if I was to settle then I likely wish for it to be Vile's realm. With the incident that occurred in the books, the disappearance of Umbra, and how great of a potential antagonist or allie he can be at times

two quick questions: What exactly is Talos' realm? And; wasn't the Numidium destroyed at the conclusion of Daggerfall's plot?

I'm interested to see what particularly you have in mind, because I feel like that would be an expansion into an area previously untouched by lore. I mean, do we even know that the Aedra have 'realms' to speak of? I would have thought that they all existed in Aetherius, rather than Oblivion, if they existed anywhere at all (PGE3 certainly gives that impression). Their relative lack of presence and potency on Nirn seems to suggest that they're fairly different from Deadra - being similarly dissolved into 'petty kingdoms' would seem to move against the idea of being a unified Pantheon.

To be fair, the Numidium, and the peace of land it was on happened to be blasted away into Aetherius. I'm not expecting it to even be remotely working<_< I should of clarified it rather as a scrap pile to be fair.

As per Talos, we already are away the other Aedra have their own 'realms' so to speak, some may be within Aetherius, left deserted, or simply some isolated realm within Mundas. Really though, we never have visited an Aedra's personal realm, and the closest we've come would be Sovengarde<_< Whether somehow this Talos 'realm' is left deserted too, somehow actually under the dominion of another Divine>_> or more interestingly.. actually belongs to Lorkhan.. existing within one of his heavenly spheres. The way it can be used and to what it tells can either prove Talos's divinity, disprove it as a whole, or so the unexpected

It's all new ground for lore, so even talking about it brings up questions of its own :S knowing the way TES is.. it would raise more questions than answer
