What makes you mad in Skyrim?
Re: What makes you mad in Skyrim?
So in my last game I talked to Brynjolf and he told me to meet him in the market for the pickpocket scam. I was all set to get started, but the second he started distracting the people, some dude appeared and challenged me to a f*cking wizard duel. So now I'm running all over Riften trying to kill this guy and stay alive (with no help from the guards, by the way - everyone in town tries to fight me to the death if I accidentally pick up a cabbage, but a random wizard duel in the marketplace apparently doesn't rate) and then I finally get back and Brynjolf is like, "Did you think I could keep them occupied all day? Oh well, I'm sure you're still a thieving prodigy, welcome to the Thieves Guild." wtf? I did literally nothing to demonstrate that I would be a helpful addition to the Thieves Guild, and he's telling Mercer what a genius I am. It really broke immersion for me. Although it was pretty funny watching Bryn distract the merchants with his Falmer potion while jerkface and I were shooting atronachs at each other five feet away and no one even noticed. Whatever, Skyrim.
It really bugs me that (in the console game) I can't save alchemy recipes. How hard would that have been to implement? Also, this is so minor but it sort of enrages me that everyone knows (and feels compelled to tell me, constantly) when I'm sick and knows what skills I'm good at and what factions I belong to, but no one reacts when I'm wearing a dragon priest mask. Don't you think a shopkeeper would notice if I strolled into his store wearing Volsung? Apparently not in Skyrim.

They do save alchemy recipies... but only when you have crafted the potion before.
Dragon priets dissappreard with the dragons, and so no one really remembers them, or their masks. I think.

I guess I wish it were more intuitive - it saves the recipes, but I still have to remember what ingredients to use. I wish I could make a recipe and then manually save it and give it a name. It would be sort of like my character is carrying around an alchemy recipe book, if I were making potions I would definitely write down the best ones.K Candyman wrote:They do save alchemy recipies... but only when you have crafted the potion before.
I don't think they should register them as dragon priest masks, but I do think they should register them as crazy and terrifying, lol.K Candyman wrote:Dragon priets dissappreard with the dragons, and so no one really remembers them, or their masks. I think.
Re: What makes you mad in Skyrim?
OH, I have another one, and I have posted about this before. So the main quest, a huge part of the motivation is saving Tamriel from the dragon menace. Everyone is so afraid of the dragons, they're destroying cities and killing people, etc. This is a pretty good motivation to do the quest - except that after you finish the main quest, dragons keep spawning. Indefinitely, as far as I can tell. I don't even think the spawn rate decreases, or at least not by much. So, what? The good people of Skyrim are going to be attacked by dragons forever? I know the game needs to provide a way for players to get souls and unlock shouts, but that really bugs me.

Re: What makes you mad in Skyrim?
^^it's a bit annoying, reminds me of the ash storms which got worse after I had defeated Dagoth lol
i hoped the list of dragons in the blades library could have been used more - perhaps once the MQ is done you could hunt all the known Dovah down who are listed therein (excitingly some went to Morrowind and other regions - perhaps a chance for a dragon hunt dlc with all these mini locations included..)
it's annoying when the need to charge up all the available shouts in the game decides the wandering monster game mechanic.. perhaps the greybeards could have even taught you how to unlearn your shouts like Mora does with perks, or even given you more thu'um energy like they do in the shout boot camp

Or there could be a reward for completing the main quest that allows you to unlock shouts without absorbing souls. Like something else you could do, or even just a "power" that unlocks shouts for free, like when you defeat Alduin you absorb the knowledge of the entire dragon race or something. That would be a great reward.Mattbott wrote:it's annoying when the need to charge up all the available shouts in the game decides the wandering monster game mechanic.. perhaps the greybeards could have even taught you how to unlearn your shouts like Mora does with perks, or even given you more thu'um energy like they do in the shout boot camp

Do dragons still attack after you defeat Alduin?

Re: What makes you mad in Skyrim?
Well, as a long time TES player (Arena, Buggerfall, The first that never was a.k.a Battlespire, the second that never was a.k.a. Redguard a.k.a. "Super Mario Croft doing pirate things on Stros M'kay", Morrowind, Oblivion, Skyrim) I got used to many of the quirks we got served over the years. Speaking of falling through bridges, falling through walls, hearing voices through stone walls as if person stands right behind you, sneaking equals invisibility, you name it. In short: You just keep thinking "they gonna fix that in the next game, right?". It's technical [&@%!] and [&@%!] happens.
But then there are truly avoidable design errors. In Oblivion we had those predictable spawning points, which we still have in Skyrim. So we had vampires in Movarth's Lair and we cleared it? Oh, let's head back to get some iron ore from the *respawning vein* for those nails we need to work on our house. Kill two spiders, kill two thralls, sneak into the cavern, onto the ledge and mine fast, avoiding the vampires because anouther round is just so brain-dead boring.
The one thing that makes me really mad in Skyrim? Two words. Dragon overkill. I mean, they were ment to be special creatures, right? Different from all the others througout the game. Remember the first three or four encounters? Hearing the distant roaring and the thunder when they land in front of you? But then you get served one at least every two ingame days. Who on earth made that decision to waste such a great idea by serving it over and over again until it gets boring? Heck, there are more dragons in Skyrim than people and draugr together! And who on Earth would make such a dumb decision like "Ok, Alduin is toast, what now? Let's keep on spawning dragons to keep things interesting...". This one begs for a Mod and every time I think about it I just feel sorry for all the console gamers out there.

I like killing dragons. I just imagine they're the leftovers. Alduin doesn't have much else to do other than fly around and help out his dead buddies not be dead anymore.

It makes me mad when followers become obsessed with killing a slaughterfish that was just swimming along minding its own business and posing no threat, and they won't do anything else until the slaughterfish is dead.

I once got sent to a cave somewhere in the Rift which had caged wolves sitting in front of the entrance. The wolves went hostile when they saw us, and all Lydia would do was run around the cage with her sword drawn and yell threats at them. I tried shooting the wolves through the bars of the cage, but the arrows wouldn't go through.
I got the situation solved by picking the lock on the cage so Lydia could have a go at the wolves. The lock was a rather difficult one, though, and I wasted most of my lockpicks in the attempt.
They really should have given us an option to pull our followers out of combat if we don't want to fight.

Re: What makes you mad in Skyrim?
On companions,
I don't mind the companion stealth (or lack thereof) too much. I usually collect items that boost stealth that i can hand out, but clumsy companions are great distractions whilst I prepare a spell/arrow. Most TES combat situations are resolved quickly so raising the alarm is usually a short term problem, so long as you know they are going to blunder into guards you can use them
Jenassa got stuck in a dwemer slicer trap, she would go forward and be wounded critically, the trap would stop, she would then go forward and, etc.. This was my first playthrough at lowish level so i needed her on board but i eventually gave up and went on (I had been very careful to skirt the edge of the passage btw, thinking she would do the same)
I brought Mjoll the Lioness into council in Season Unending and she spoke continuously all through, and due to the sound balancing, i couldn't hear what the others were saying. In hindsight i should have fus-roh'd her off the throat of the world or fed her to Boethiah, but i just dismissed her as soon as the meeting ended
i've said it before, but perhaps a simple operation flashpoint red river type command wheel would benefit companions in future TES games instead of the dialogue choices, and they could follow given orders like "follow exactly in my footsteps", and "be quiet unless spoken to" , for a start

Re: What makes you mad in Skyrim?
@ Mattbott:
Just today I was sneaking in a hallway with my follower Kharjo, and some one heard our clanky asses so I told him to wait near the well lit entrance of the hall while I hid near the end in the shadows. A bandit came around the corner, saw Kharjo, then I sprung out and cut her throat once she walked past me. I totally agree followers aren't so bad if you have the foresight to place them where they can be useful as distractions. That and if you hold their hands when dealing with traps. They aren't very bright.

Re: What makes you mad in Skyrim?
i dont remember ever having a thief type follower, i wonder if they are any better with hiding?
And, i sometimes wonder how much fun it would be if you had say, an assassin follower, and then using the follower command, told him/her to go assassinate that guard - over there
i'd pay good money to see that lol

Re: What makes you mad in Skyrim?
Karita (or some name like that), the bard in Windpeak Inn in Dawnstar.
The first time I entered the other day, I was having a conversation with some sailor guy, and I could hear this awful noise in the background. It was very distracting.
Upon finishing the talk, I realised that it was her 'singing.' I presume she must be there for comedy reasons, as she makes me want to leave the Inn. How any guests get any rest with her catawalling when there are no doors to the rooms is a mystery (also, what's that all about? No doors?)
She also has the lowest cut top I've seen in Skyrim. It almost looks like a glitch.

Hey, on a side note, talke to Frorkmar Banner-torn. MFer has the single longest line of dialog in the game from what I can tell. He just never shuts up about the Stormcloaks.
