Nope, Regin is right. Copper + zinc = brass. I actually didn't even know that, myself. Learn something new every day. copper and tin make bronze. so bronze and tin would just be bronze with extra tin. bronze was used for weapons and armor, at one time.perylousdemon wrote:Nope, Regin is right. Copper + zinc = brass. Re: Skyrim mysteries
I don't know if this was brought up before, it surely has been at one time or another
but why in the bloody hell do the Blades tell you they cannot continue to serve/welcome you until you kill a particular dragon? And not just any dragon mind you.. it has to be this particular one that isn't even a threat?
In the most roughed out exaggeration in the form of chit chat, it's basically "Kill this fellow or [&@%!] off!" in which I reply "And what if I don't want to? Huh?" and after a long hard thought followed by a blunt reply "Then I guess your worthless to us.." only for me to rub it in their face "Well doesn't that kind of undermine your whole objective now, doesn't it? Good luck with Alduin!"
Um.. wasn't one of their core purpose and oath is namely to service and protect the Emperor and seek out potential Dragonborns, especially when the throne was empty<_< excuse me if I may... but your not the damn Dragonguard anymore, hunting dragons was like a joy for them but your priorities aren't the same as your foundation. I mean when you think about it.. it kind of contradicts themselves by taking such a gamble, they may as well be shooting themselves in the knees like them guards>_> the shame they must feel if you called their bluff now, huh? It's not like there's going to be another last dragonborn.. oh wait a second...
But really, wouldn't it have been in their interest to stay on your good side, it's not like they can't join you on killing other dragons, there's plenty for the picking. I actually want to know, what narrow minded excuse could they of had? It actually confuses me the more I think about it, if anything it's irrational
So ranting aside and mystery adrift, I think I'm going to enjoy a cup of tea with my pal Parthy' now
sorry, no Blades allowed

Re: Skyrim mysteries
it's mainly because P was a high ranking dragon during the dragon war, so i guess he is the one responseble for killing alot of blades or something and they can't forget that, and can't see that he has turned against Alduin. And they don't know that because they don't want to talk about it anymore so mainly the blades are just shortsighted on this one...
they just want to get back at P for overruling them a long time ago:P

Re: Skyrim mysteries
To be frank<_< Parthy never did kill the Blades, his reign along with Alduin was within the Mythical Era.. long before the Akaviri Dragonslayers invaded and went on their killing spree<_< and by that time to where any individual, regardless of faction or banner tried to attack him.. first off.. good luck climbing that mountain to the top... and 2nd, you really can't condemn him for self defense, Obviously, that last statement is purely hypothetical, thus to any knowledge could not have occurred
As for his crimes in the past.. any who are quick to call upon that cannot be ignorant to his rebellion against his fellow Dov. If not for him and his new found mercy.. the Nords would likely have never stood a chance.. and to add upon his redemption, he lives in isolation meditating just so that he may live at peace. The Blades themselves labeled the Greybeards as too afraid of power and prefer to do nothing than to use it<_< yet Parthy is the defining pinnacle to that statement.. they even said that power comes at the risk of abuse, but can also be used for good... kind of irony that they despise a group who avoid the use of the very thing that has time and time again.. led to destruction.. But then you have Parthy who has such power, who can bring about change when he wills it, and only will act when destiny or the gods themselves ask of him>_>
Still.. all I can really get out is the Blades are just as irrational as their Akaviri counterparts..

If dwarven metal were bronze it would be far weaker than even iron gear. I think we're forgetting that tes is a fantasy game and not every material has to have a real world counter part...

Re: Skyrim mysteries
Here's one: Why are there only four old men as Greybeards? If it does take decades of study and practice to master the Voice, why do they not have any students? Granted, they did have Ulfric at one point, but I doubt one person is enough to replace all four of them when they enevitably die.

Re: Skyrim mysteries
Archer, I've been to a couple universities, so let me explain the mystery behind the Greybeards.
Education takes place most efficiently when shouted in someone's face and when you've been doing it so long that you're close minded to anything different from what you teach. Obviously, the Greybeards are just waiting until they are in the professing sweetspot: old enough that you're as wise as possible and just before you're so old that you speak gibberish.
Or, the dormitory is built off campus.
Or the get upset at their students at shout at them, killing everyone they teach.
Or the graduation ceremony disintegrates most who get through the program, and they are under investigation before any further students are accepted.

Re: Skyrim mysteries
Or people are no longer interested in becoming a Greybeard, nor do the more powerful families send children/siblings there in order to reduce the amount of potential contenders for the position head of the family (which might include becoming the next jarl).
