Is VLC a safe program? I've heard good things about it but that it also has a tendency to be hacked. Sooo...Do any of you use it?

I've never had an issue with VLC; it is very good and very reliable across virtually all media formats. My main media player is Media Player Classic (you can get it bundled with the k-lite codec pack - I like the layout and it seems to handle 1080p video better than VLC, at least on my machine) but VLC has been my backup media player for years, and it's one of the first things I download whenever I get a new machine.
