Hm, well, apologies for not remembering my exact orientation when I spawned for the first time. I guess I should have written something so important down, lest I need to recall it again.
I was under the impression that said "area behind the way you face when you spawn" was the part of the desert closest to spawn, right there, in the open. I guess I assumed this (just spitballing here, I'm probably remembering my own memories wrong) was what Taters meant as "right next to spawn".

Again, apologies for not remembering such important things. I'll make sure next time that I go and measure these things instead of someone telling me before arguing about where it was going to be.

Yeah, that's enough of your sarcasm for now, thanks.

It's a private server in my house. I'm fine with it. Why are we arguing over something so small?

I keep being ignored so I'll ask one more time:

What's wrong with a little area of the world being designated for pixel art and being given its own warp so that if anyone wants to take a gander at the gallery or make their own submission, it's easily accessible? At this point I don't care about any pixel art, I just want to know why this isn't a solution.

That is definitely possible, Rose. Kestral was given OP, so was AKB and Taters. Any of them can pick a spot and make a warp.

I keep being ignored too, though. Why are we arguing about this when I physically own the server and have already said it's fine?

Just trying to find a compromise between "pixel art where everyone is going to see it whether they want to or not" and "no pixel art" since neither one is really fair.

Wow. Allowing someone to build something you don't personally like in a place where you might see it isn't fair?

I'm allowing it. I don't want the server to be that restrictive. It will be "visible from spawn" but won't be on spawn. In fact pixel art needs to be viewed from a distance anyway.

I plan to build either a 1950's style ranch or a giant Spectator or Saddle Shoe for my new home.

Edit: I wound up making a Hotel, my house (which is a ranch), and a Diner.

If I made a town, it would probably be in the 1950's style. I feel most comfortable building that way, and I like how they look. Apartments are a huge challenge without World Edit, so it would probably be mostly ranches for housing.

So apparently using World Edit to swap one kind of stairs for another makes the new ones all face one direction, rather than the direction they were facing originally. This is gonna take some work to fix.

I would let anyone move in. Except I don't plan on building a town anytime soon. I may however, build it sometime in the future.

Minecraft is really all about the objective, the goal at the end of the tunnel.. only to be replaced time and time again.

I for one am already making plans on how to decorate my lil home in the lawn
It's going to have a trapdoor, a single ladder, a piece of carpet to keep my feetsy doodles warm, and lets not forget the lil sign up front saying ""Beta's Super Secret Hidey Hole" with an arrow pointing down to the door  I can already imagine the luxurious comfort, home sweet home

I think our current nether portal is a little underwhelming for being a portal into a hellish dimension, hence I've started work on a new portal site in the desert.

Is there still the problem where two portals too close together warp to each other?

That's just how they work, isn't it?
I removed the old portal though, the new one is past the pixel art.
