Re: Skyrim Moments You Just Have to Share!
lol npc comments are the best, Arah! I was throwing a swing at a vampire/ or perhaps thrall when, mid swing he said "I'll make this quick!" And then my daedric warhammer connected with him and laid him out in one hit as soon as he had finished his sentence.
Thanks for making that quick, guy!

Ha ha, yeh there is a lot of fight talk from npcs who then get dispensed of 2 seconds later! Too cocky for there own good!
The mammoth was enroute to Saarthal, coming from Dawnstar. It was an icy sort of ravine area. Looked like some bandits had hunted it for fun or something, but they must have been very quick to pin it like that! The was some armour and a bow floating in mid air before the mammoth zone too. Ah, the curiosities of Skyrim!

Re: Skyrim Moments You Just Have to Share!
Totally an awkward moment: my Altmer conjurer shouted Kyne's Peace in front of her husband, Aicantar, and he said "Wow, you're the Dragonborn?"
Like...seriously? After all this time you've been with her? And all the times she's shouted FUS RO DAH at all the enemies?

Ah, the joy of so-not-fitting random NPC comments... guards are pretty good at that, too. Berate my character for shouting in town, then turn around and say, "Maybe I'm the Dragonborn, and I just don't know it yet?"Dohva. wrote:Totally an awkward moment: my Altmer conjurer shouted Kyne's Peace in front of her husband, Aicantar, and he said "Wow, you're the Dragonborn?"Like...seriously? Re: Skyrim Moments You Just Have to Share!
I normally don't post much here (more of a lurker), but something happened that I just have to share.
I was walking around in the northern parts of the pale, simply exploring the area when I happened upon a bunny. It ran in front of me, and I, not even really thinking about it, took out my sword and killed it.
When I looted said bunny however, something caught my attention. The bunny seemed to be carrying some kind of plant. I had never seen this plant before and, being a frequent user of poisons and potions, immediately ate it to see what kind of effects it would have.
Before I could even finish the thought "Cool, a new ingredient for damage health poisons" my character laid dead on the ground.
After some research online I found out that the Jarrin Root (which the bunny was carrying) does 200 damage when eaten raw. Since my character only has 210 maximum health and had taken a little fall damage beforehand it was just enough to kill her
Even though it had been roughly 10 minutes since my last auto save, I could not stop laughing from such a strange death. Its somewhat realistic too. You really shouldn't just eat any plant you come across, especially if you know they have magical properties.

Re: Skyrim Moments You Just Have to Share!
That is interesting. The jarrin root is given to your character once in the game, as a poison for a dark brotherhood quest. After reading your post I looked up the jarrin root on uesp to see where I could find it, (would be a useful thing to grow if you are an alchemist.) but it says that is the only time in the game you can aquire it. (And you can't grow it) Huh, so I guess although very rare, there are some situations where you can get it again. Neat.

Re: Skyrim Moments You Just Have to Share!
I'm not sure if it would have been a mod that did this, but creatures sometimes carry around loot with them (often alchemy ingredients, but even such things as gems). I play with very few gameplay altering mods and the only one that could have anything to do with it would be SkyTEST - Realistic Animals and Predators, although it doesn't mention altering the loot of animals.farore wrote:That is interesting. Skyrim could be coded so that animals have a chance of carrying a random alchemy ingredient and since Jarrin root is one, it might have been a lucky (or not so lucky) happenstance.
Sadly I could not find the bunny again so no jarrin root for me

Re: Skyrim Moments You Just Have to Share!
Ironically, this moment upset me because it led to a lack of moments... -.-
My SSD was full. Like 1GB space. So I ordered a 1TB HDD, and decided to put off playing until I got that extra space. I thought, beautiful! That will help me focus. But I decided to try and free up the SSD as much as I could since I figured I wasn't going to be playing a while.
I stumbled upon my fraps folder. To find a grid of 1-3GB videos. I had forgotten that the Quickload button was also FRAPS' record button. Hardest of all face palms.

Re: Skyrim Moments You Just Have to Share!
A moment I'd like to share was my most recent time in the abandoned shack with Astrid (about my third time going through this quest line). The moment where Astrid asks you to kill one of the three people in there. I thought I would try and take out all three with Chain Lightning (as this character is a mage).
Success
they all succumbed to a shocking fate, and Astrid's comment "Well, aren't we the over achiever?!" Made me burst with smiles. Just how she said it in her manner of speaking.
Quality moment for myself

Re: Skyrim Moments You Just Have to Share!
I've had a really funny kill cam recently:
My Dunmer and her follower Faendal were fighting the bandit leader at Redoran's Retreat, Faendal rushing him with a sword, Amara standing back to pepper the bandit with arrows. When she dealt the killing blow I got an archery kill cam. I got a close-up of the bandit chief's corpse hitting the ground, landing his head square in the armed bear trap lying on the ground next to him.
I couldn't help but laugh. The guy had to die only once for me to get the bounty, after all.

Re: Skyrim Moments You Just Have to Share!
So my sneaky Bosmer came home to Honeyside today after discussing some guild business with Delvin and Vex and was quite perplexed to find her current Interesting NPCs follower Raynes, who by his own confession finds the pudgy softness of female flesh disgusting and prefers to stick his hand into another man's breeches, stirring the cooking pot at the hearth butt-nekkid and observe what she couldn't but interpret as a tell-tale blush on the face of her housecarl. "I see you two have become fast friends", she commented with a mischievous smile while Raynes hurried to get dressed and Iona tried in vain to distract her with the usual "It's an honour to see you again, my thane" nonsense.
(The real culprit was Amazing Follower Tweaks's outfit management system which takes a second or so to load your followers' current outfit when you return to them after having dismissed them but told them to hang out in a certain place, leading to short flashes of nudity which can on occasion be quite hilarious - as in this case, revealing a side of Raynes's character I'm sure his author never imagined.)

Re: Skyrim Moments You Just Have to Share!
My first horse disappeared months ago after I returned from exploring Mzulft. It was quite a sad event (I know, im too sentimental!) There was no dead body, but he didnt fast travel and wasnt at any of the stables. I assumed him being MIA meant he was dead, however, I was at Solitude's stables yesterday and noticed there were two sandy coloured horses by the hay. The first said 'steal horse' but the second said 'Aarah's horse!'
He was back! I always had a feeling that he wasnt dead. It must have been a glitch, and I have recently got Legendary edition, so it looks like this has fixed it.

Yesterday I played Skyrim and I came across a big fight between Stormcloaks and Imperials with Immersive Patrols for the first time. It was awesome, the Imperials won. My character was happy with that, but I wasn't.
It was also quite funny, because an Imperial Soldier said something in the manner of this: 'I haven't fought for such a long time' while behind him was a huge pile of corpses from Imperial and Stormcloak soldiers.

dragon got him a short while later, (it was brutal, the horse was trying to kick the monster on the nose and it was just sat there blasting flames at him, point blank range) - this might explain why horses need to 'take a break' from their dovahkiins.. i sometimes think if i could have made dragonscale armour for him, he might still be alive

My character stood back and watch two giant's and a Mammoth clobber a dragon into submission. I almost felt sorry for it except I was the one who had led it there by running away from it through the giant camp.

Re: Skyrim Moments You Just Have to Share!
Started a new character recently and decided to take him up to Dawnstar, as I never spend a lot of time there. After a quick dash around town to collect quests, buy ingots etc. I head out east towards Winterhold, where I had three interesting encounters:
1. The game spazzed out a little and spawned a dragon, a frost troll and a pair of giant Frostbite Spiders just outside the Dawnstar Sanctuary. Soon, a pair of horkers joined as well. Not exactly fun for a squishy archer to deal with, though the dragon distracted most of them.
2. I decide to head over towards one of the wrecks, only for my character to drown. As an Argonian.
3. About a third of the way along the coast to Winterhold, I spotted flames. Thinking there may have been trouble, I drew my bow and investigated. There was a patch of ground, about six feet in diameter, which was charred and had several small flames. In the middle was a burnt corpse named "Yisra", with some gold, a dagger and a unique necklace named "Yisra's Necklace". A spell tome for Flame Cloak lay in front of the corpse. It was pretty exciting to discover something I hadn't seen before, considering I've played Skyrim since release at least weekly.

Did Azura's quest, and in one of the final rooms several necromancers attacked. Dispatched them fairly easily and the last one got a rather nice decapitation killcam.
After the battle, I walked around the room looking for any good loot before continuing and saw a table behind me, with a bowl on it, and the necromancer's head sitting perfectly inside it.
Much laughing was heard. Made the decapitation feel that much sweeter.

Re: Skyrim Moments You Just Have to Share!
Today was an interesting day that kinda left me in shock. I don't really know why it shocked me so much
First, I tried this blocking cheat I made myself. You commit a small crime in Solitude, go into this little space behind a house, and block as the guards hit you with your swords. Unfortunately, I forgot that the guards would rather shoot arrows at point blank than use a sword, so I was struggling for an hour or more before I realized I should have just pickpocketed all the guards bows.
Then, I discovered a new location. I thought I had discovered them all. It started with me climbing a mountain and then I had no idea where I was when I got to the top
Next, I went to Solitude again to clear my bounty Thieves' Guild style, when a dragon interrupted everything. It was only the second time a dragon had attacked me inside a city--the other was in Markarth. The guards being the stupid computer programs they are started attacking me for my bounty instead of the dragon. I reverted to last save and paid my bounty quicker before the dragon attacked.
Finally, what really shocked me: I killed the dragon, and everyone gathered around to see it. Then I realized that the dragon had somehow killed Captain Aldis or whatever his name is, the captain of the Solitude guards, an essential character. I wasn't sure if it was a blessing or a curse. After all, he didn't do anything important, and was often a nuisance when I had killed all the other guards but not him. Then again, I am one of those people who is too sentimental and cares when NPCs die. It was a hard decision, but I decided to keep playing rather than revert to last save

Re: Skyrim Moments You Just Have to Share!
I ran into a kind of sad moment while exploring the hot springs. There stands a giant, silently looking at his mammoth, now dead in the water. Two bears and a wolf had taken it down. I watch the giant kill the bears and wolf and then just solemnly reflect on his friend's death. The saddest part is that giants, for whatever reason, cannot enter water. He can't even hug his mammoth goodbye.
The reason I found it so sad was because it reminded me of a scene from never ending story. Refresher:
Can I cry now?

Re: Skyrim Moments You Just Have to Share!
So I completed the quest "The Raven of Anvil" from the Interesting NPCs mod yesterday. The long and short of it is, you're supposed to steal an important document from a safe in the Jarl of Markarth's personal quarters while your accomplice, masquerading as a bard, distracts the court with her performance. The Jarl has hired a bunch of sellswords to guard his quarters as extra protection, but your partner will lure them away from their posts by playing a special song, and you have to do your job before the song is done.
All went well except I took a little too long fiddling with the safe's lock and left the Jarl's quarters just as the mercenaries were coming back. I made a beeline for the exit, pursuers hot on my heels, but as I leapt down the stairs of Understone Keep I heard shouts and clangor of swords behind me - Ondolemar and his Thalmor soldiers were covering my escape and butchering the sellswords! Just because I had spied on a Talos-worshipping bard for him long ago. That's Mer solidarity for ya! (I never understood what people saw in Ondolemar, but playing a pro-Thalmor character for the first time I have to admit he's a true gentlemer!)

As a Nord I figured once and a while I have to do some crazy Barbarian move so I climbed over the mtn. to reach the dragon at Skyborm Altar. At this point I leaped of the cliff onto the back of the dragon and began my attack. Needless to say a freaked out dragon proceeded to jump into the sky. At this point I floated to the ground and finished him off with my bow then the final sword assualt.

That must have been epic, rbecker! Sounds like your character is a Stuntkiin, not Dovahkiin.
Yesterday I was happily strolling with Brelyna near Winterhold, when I encountered the Imperial Legion paratrooper forces. Namely, next to Stillborn Cave a squad of eight or so Legionnaires fell from the sky right in front of me! Unfortunately for them, the drop was too much for them and none survived. I use Immersive Patrols, and it looks like that mod, a bad spawn point (a steep slope) and the mammoth-drop bug decided to team up to kill a few hapless Imperials. Too bad it happened too fast to take a screenshot.

So I am riding to Helgen in the opening scene and everyone is doing fine until Lokir decides to take a ride under the wagon. Which kills him of course so Ralof has a conversation with himself while looking at his feet. In all my time playing Skyrim this has never happened to me. Then at the end when the archers are supposed to shoot him they aim right at me. Luckily they don't fire their arrows because he is already dead. And I caught it all on video.
Spoiler:
Got my SKYRIM fix for today. Life is good.
My new Skyrim Let's Play. The adventures of the Loveable Rogue, Mattrim.

Re: Skyrim Moments You Just Have to Share!
I was playing on my Redguard, riding my horse through the Reach. I stopped to mine some silver, and when I tried to mount my horse I must have shot about thirty feet to the west while in the "riding position". Except I wasn't on my horse! I was half buried in the ground, only able to move in a straight line, at horse speed. Fooled around with that for a minute or so, then I jumped which seemed to have fixed whatever my character was doing. After this scenario, however, everytime I stood in one spot, my character would just stand there with her arms outstretched beside her, looking pretty stupid. So reloaded. Never had the happen before.
