Does not solve the aesthetics problem, that just makes them functional.
Picasso's art wouldn't be any more aesthetically pleasing if it was used as toilet paper.

Honestly, if any construct stays within reasonable bounds, does not hold a significant negative impact, or does not endanger another's territory or build.. then there shouldn't be any problem. If somebody wants to build a castle made of pink wool.. go ahead :P now if you wanted to build a house made of TNT next to somebody else's construct.. then we may have a problem. I mean, if people can make literal mansions out of dirt, why can't someone do some pixel art?

It's more of, I think anything built with wool is ugly. This is far less of a personal thing than you may think it is.

If majority wants to do it, go ahead and do it, I'm just opposed to it. But I can't overrule what everyone else wants.
MARS wrote:So if I don't like someone's house I can tell them to tear it down?
Remember that thing we had, called the "Building Committee"? I remember that was the exact [&@%!] premise of that existing.

Mansions of dirt are just as ugly as pixel art, and in the general Minecraft fanbase, everyone is pretty familiar with how hideous they are.
Once again, we had a Building Committee to get rid of ugly builds. I'm not sure where you guys are getting this idea that buildings are somehow entirely to being hideous.
And please, if you wanna put your pixel art in a confined space, go do it! I already said that I would be totally fine if you just roped off an area off in the desert and put it all there. Make a warp there, make a train, I don't care, so long as it doesn't pollute the useful parts of the land. It's just a waste of land to put it in mountains or forests (AKA, the area near spawn).

I don't see why you're being so militant. Whether or not wool structures are ugly is entirely subjective. I never had anything to do with this "building committee" so I have no idea if it exists on the server right now. If it does, do whatever it is you do, though I find the notion of passing judgement on someone else's work kinda repulsive.

I do remember the building committee, VW, and I remember it was basically you and what, 2 other people? I also don't remember that anything of significance that was built in or around Yueespee was vetted by the committee. If we are to have a committee, it would be fair, would it not, if everyone on the server was allowed to have a say in it. That might backfire, though, as, so far, you're the only one objecting to the proposed artwork(though frankly, how anyone can object to something they have never seen nor heard described is beyond me).

EDIT: Also, I'd like to meet this Minecraft fanbase you speak of that seems to think pixel art is an eyesore. Considering how much of it I see, these people must be awful secretive.

Alright, everybody, calm down. The server is meant to be a place where people can have fun, not complain about what other people are building. If you don't like the way something looks, then feel free to not look at it.

There is no building committee on the server anymore, btw. It was just Veets and Wolf before, and the only thing they ever decided was that POMC wasn't allowed to build in town, which I thought was pretty silly.

All that said, just have fun. As long as what you're doing isn't destructive in regards to other people's work I'm ok with it.

Gods, I remember when POMC admitted to some griefing and we "punished" him by having Avron levitate and then drop him over and over into a pit of lava. Good times.

You could always designate some place out in the boonies to be the "pixel art" area and create a warp there for easy access.
Seriously though, what's wrong with this idea?
Taters wrote:That might backfire, though, as, so far, you're the only one objecting to the proposed artwork
And no, he isn't. I'd also rather it not be visible from spawn as pixel art is generally pretty jarring, but as I said, pixel art area in the boonies, with a warp. I don't see what's wrong with that idea.

Idea for spawn.. make a gallows for the use of public executions. Hell even make a stage for people to throw chicken eggs at the criminal for lesser crimes<_<

Uhm, no, I was never even part of said Building Committee. Sure, I liked the idea, but I sure as hell didn't participate.
If I recall correctly, Wolf wasn't involved either.
http://forums.uesp.net/viewtopic.php?f= ... ee#p776227
Huh, strange, seems like it was Pom, General, and Shadowscale. That's a twist, isn't it?

Also... I only mentioned the Building Committee to Mars. Its existence (and current lack thereof) is entirely separate from what we're talking about.
Mansions of dirt are just as ugly as pixel art, and in the general Minecraft fanbase, everyone is pretty familiar with how hideous they are.
Clearly this was bad wording but this was the intention of the statement, Taters.

Yes, thank you. Why has this become about telling me how wrong my opinion is about pixel art, when I've already told all of you a solution that would have no effect on the work?

Those two saying "Me." doesn't mean they were on the committee. Wolf was definitely on it because I remember having long conversations with him about POMC and how he wanted to tear down everything POMC had created because it was so bad looking. Then he told me the committee had voted to revoke POMC's building privileges.

Anyway, that's neither here nor there. The point I was trying to make is that what other people build won't hurt you or the enjoyment you get out of building. If you don't like the way something looks then don't look at it.

I can't even see Taters' site when I log on. I flew around trying to find it close to spawn and never saw anything that looked like pixelart. Have either of you two seen it?

I moved it for the time being, lest someone decide to mess with it. It used to be in the desert directly behind the way you face when you spawn.

EDIT: And before anyone says "Hey, you moved it, problem solved", part of the reason I wanted it visible from spawn was so it would be visible from spawn. Otherwise, I'd build it in my own little chunk of the world.

I love it  Personally.. I would [&@%!] myself.. fall over fall over laughing.. and roll around in my lovely bodily fluids :lol:all if that was the first thing I saw when I spawned

Yes.. let the image simmer.. like a fine stew.. yes :Twisted Evil:

Vulgar-ness aside.. and my 'evil' twin now locked in his cage to where he belongs<_<
How big is it exactly?

Edit: Speaking of spawning.. if I can get minecraft and a replacement laptop this summer.. can I move in to someone's yard :3 all I would need is a 2 block hole with a trap door to keep them bad fellows away

How can I not look at something that blots out the sun?
I prefer to keep my builds located in places with an actually appealing landscape around them, so, yes actually, it will hurt my enjoyment in building.

Why is it such a handicap to move it slightly away from spawn so that it doesn't take up space in the area of town? Why does it have to be immediately visible from spawn?
