Most satisfying artifact?

Post by BetaB17 »

Yes indeed, a sibling thread to the well beloved Most disappointing artifact thread. Same focus, opposite objective

This is no topic to merely shout out what was your favorite tool of destruction( there's a thread for that too!), rather a chance to say what legendary/one of a kind/ or simply overpowered artifact was well worth the struggle! :D Did it's story of fame and infamy live up to expectations? Was it well worth the wait? Or was it a fair reward for a mere quest? Remember, even if it's a hunk of metal to some, doesn't mean it can't be satisfying ^_^

To start things off, I'll like to add my much beloved Bloodskal Blade  I considered giving the honor to Morokei, but I'll save that pretty for another time.
While certainly not the most powerful of blades, nor the greatest artifact, but for it's slight style of uniqueness, it's earned my love. I mean, one of the large fall-backs to 2-Handed weapons is the decrease in mobility, and while yes it gives you a better reach.. it doesn't help much when their running with their tails between their legs. Bloodskal on the otherhand just solves that problem>_> if their not too far, a power attack sends a red slash to your foe. Not only that, but if you actually strike your blow up close, that red slash will follow and hit any foe behind or about. I don't know why, but something is just blissful to see a killing blow by thy blade only to see a red slash ragdoll their lifeless corpse  And while yes the enchantment itself may not deal the most damage, it certainly never runs out on you when in a jam. So with little hype, a one-time puzzle, and a return of an old friend.. I have to say this was most certainly a satisfying treat.

So tell us, what artifact was satisfying to YOU!

I like the "Targe of the Blooded" and "Mask of Clavicus Vile" for my heavies; and "Ring of Hircine", "Silverblood Family Ring", "Locket of Saint Jiub" for every character. Those pieces of jewelry are must-have equipment for any character, and super satisfying to get.

Did you take a look at the walkthrough on UESP? If not you might have completed it in a way that you would recieve the Savior's Hide as a quest reward instead.

The Nightingale Weapons/Armor. Not the most powerful, but definitely the most styling :D

Have to agree with that, it definitely feels satisfying when you get them and it's an awesome few quests leading up.
Also the golden Dragon Priest mask, it just feels so satisfying once you take out all of the Dragon Priest and it's pretty powerful to boot.

Darn. I didnt look at the alternative quest option out come. I assumed that when I killed the guy I would get the curse removed from the ring. But instead got some uglyarmor. I nnever thought the curse would be removed by going against Hircine's wishes. That sucks... Well at least I did what I felt was right and killed that child murdered... Sorry but the fact that he new of his problem and still put himself around people was his own fault. And the fact that in human form a small female child being seen as weak easy prey that resulted in the tranformation makes him sound sick. He should have screamed at her to leave or ran as far away from her as he couldhave before he lost control imo. Sorry.. That quest just made me sick.

Well back on topic. I guess the most satisfying would be the nightingale armor as well. The only artifact type thing I use.

I want to give a shout out to the homie KROSIS

It's got archery, it's got alchemy, it's got lockpicking... it's delicious!

And all you have to do is wonder up a mountain and fight a dragon and a dragon priest at the same time -- it's like a sunny Sunday in the park.

In second place is the AETHERIAL CROWN. What's better than one blessing? TWO blessings. What's that? sorry -- I can't hear you over my +50 armour and +25% magic resist boosts from the Lord Stone and the shuffling sounds of my zombie army I raised with the Ritual Stone AT THE SAME TIME.

An honourable mention goes to VOLSUNG -- you handsom waterbreathing, barter enhancing, carry-weight booster you.

The first thing that comes to my mind are definitely Dragon Priest masks. It was (and is) always really satisfying to get one because it was a reward from a good battle; a unique trophy reminding you of a formidable foe. It also helps there's a sort of quest revolving around them, making you feel really proud when you manage to acquire them all. I never used any guides in locating the Priests so it was always a delight (or a cause to panic =P) to run into one. Certainly caused some memorable scenes. Many of the masks also have good enhancements and armor rating. Thanks to one of those, my dunmer can now be almost totally immune to fire. When one of those fire breathing lizards shows up next time, he totally knows what to equip.

No matter what destructive power or good looks other artifacts may possess, Azura's Star will always be the most satisfying artifact I can pick up, whether I'm an enchanter or not. It combos so well with the Soul Tear shout, allowing you to keep recharging your other artifacts or those things I may self-enchant from time to time. It's usefulness will always be welcomed.

And yes, I know, there's the Black Star, but it feels wrong betraying Azura for that, so...
Oh for the love of little green tomatoes...

Miraaks Stuff. did I spell his name right? Anyway, very satisfying. Only a basement Trophy, except for the staff which is used by my followers. Anyway, I love to see that pesky [&@%!] stuff collecting dust!
So, we have a bit of a difference on why we think it's the most satisfying but that is mine. Good riddance to that pest.!

Mehrunes' Razor is great to use on boss enemies and dragons but not on your average foes. That 1/50 chance to kill in one hit comes in handy. Wabbajack can also be good for that purpose. If I come up against a really hard foe then it can turn it into something much more manageable. I like the Masque of Clavicus Vile a lot. It looks pretty cool and it is also a really good helmet. I like having Azura's Star (not the Black Star because I like Azura) and it comes in handy for recharging but it isn't that vital and I tend to find myself swimming in soul gems. Dawnbreaker is also nice, it is a good sword that also looks pretty darn cool.
So we have come to solve every squabble in the village personally?

I like the look of the Nightingale equipment, especially the unique bow given by Karliah, but the only artifact I actually use regardless of my level is The Black Star. It's just too useful to pass up!
Besides, I never pick Dunmer, so she ain't my god!! :)

1. Volsung, apsolute mobility with waterbreathing, prices an cary weight, cheap to upgrade by smith, good armor level. And can be worn with glitched helmets and hoods, for more armour buff power and stuff.
2. Downbreker, ultimate paladin blade in combo with some high damage absorb sword, or ofset dager for increase slash speed at high levels. Insane long recharge period, undead vampire. Just strike the weakest body first. If you like enchanted weapons, i dont, except maybe Zephyr and my favorite Voldr lucky dagger, witch does not slow down elemental fury, its not affected by arcane smith, and constantly pumps damage with crits.
3. black book salow regent, 10% enchant buff. Its basicaly very good. More armor, more damage, more alchemy power, up to 3 scools of magic compleatly free trough extra efect on armor and jewelery.

I recently attained the Ebony Mail with the 5 points per second poison damage to any nearby enemy. I really love this piece of armor, it doesnt do much damage but I like the black foggy appearance when an enemy is near- it's useful. And I enjoy it being unnecessary to perform the final killing blow in some circumstances. And also being able to drain an enemies health through a barred door. :) And the sleek black and dark blue appearance is nice too. Nifty. :)

Leather boots of hauling. Got them in Blackreach but not sure if they are a blessing or a curse, as they make me carry more stuff and now I cant let go of enough items to not wear them. I think they are satisfying in terms of hauling around what you want though.

Also, I find the drainspell bow and drainheart sword very cool. That ethereal, transparent, ghostly blue colour looks groovy.

I've also found that equipment that allows you to carry more weight are sometimes counter effective. I have the locket of saint juib and the blackguard's armor which together allows me to carry an extra 100 pounds. But because I have them I've just accumulated that much more equipment that I 'must' carry with me at all times. Leaving me about 50 pounds for loot, which definitely doesnt get me far when adventuring. :/ Right now I'm working on upping my heavy armor skill so I can get the heavy armor weighs nothing perk.. that will help some.

YES! HAHA! I've had a pair of those in he past -- they're great! I wish the leather armour was a pant-style one -- I feel weird killing dragons in a leather skirt.

Try some spring cleaning. If. You put away excess potions and scrolls you drop a LOT of weight. I don't use scrolls and potions enough to warrant having 60 health potions and 9 fireball scrolls etc...

Mehrune's Razor, it looks badass! It's daedric quality and you can get it as soon as you reach level twenty. Plus, the animation it does when it gets reforged is satisfying.

Ring of Namira for my Vampires, helps negate the lack of regen effect to a degree. Or Azura's Star for obvious reasons. I'd say Dawnbreaker as well, if the guy at the end of the dungeon wasn't such a pain in the butt.

Spellbreaker. It's so awesome to have a perma-ward spell. It doesn't matter how much Magicka one's enemies have, so long as one has this shield.

Definitely going with Dawnbreaker and the Nightingale Blade as a tie for me, mostly because I like to dual wield them as parallel blades because of the whole dual opposite theme. It's pretty great.

Oh, and one makes undead explode and the other keeps me alive 90% of the time.

Absolutely!! I forgot about Spellbreaker! It's a bit of a pain to get because of the items you need to aquire (I'm looking at you flawless ruby) -- but it is a BEAST -- and stands up against practically any dragon breath.
