Fin Gleam?

Post by thor8808 »

I can't seem to find fin gleam, I've looked all over Anvil's western coast!

Could someon give me an more accurate description where that helm is?

I can at least confirm that it isn't where Uespwiki says it is, unless there's another island off the west coast near Anvil that can't be seen.

I was out there off that little island close offshore this weekend, burning up all my breathe water potions, combing the entire western shore of that island (and then eastern shore, in case wiki had a typo), even down deep. If it's there, it's hidden really well.

If you find it before anyone responds, please be sure to post the solution here. Good luck.

It might not be right exactly where wiki says but it is real close. It took me quite a while to find it I almost gave up, and thank heavens I am argonian. So keep looking if you can! It is worth more than it's weight in gold in my opinion!

It is there, it was the first decent artifact I found, back at level 3 or 4 and is well worth getting as it makes everything else so much simpler, nightvision, water breathing, and detect life - if you're into sneaking around and sniping people with bows it virtually gaurantees you a x3 sneak attack, one shot kill every time - certainly makes the earlier levels much easier. I'm now level 16 and I'm begining to feel that it's maybe too 'gamey' to use this helmet.

Go West out of Anvil docks, follow the shoreline as it curves back heading North West (past the Lady Stone on the hill to your right) and you'll see a small island to your left (not much bigger than a couple of houses) with handy rocks that you can use to jump across.

Watch out for mudcrabs.

You'll need to bring some kind of waterbreathing spell or potion.

Go straight across the island to it's far Western shoreline, roughly at the midpoint, virtually opposite the stepping stones you just crossed.

Save, then activate your water breathing spell/potion. Dive down - it is a way down - too far to reach just by holding your breath. The helmet is next to some bones and a couple of rocks as I recall, due to poor visibility at this depth you have to get right up close before you can actually see it. The helmet is green glass so underwater it looks quite dark and shiney/glossy.

It took me two or three attempts to find it, reloading to my previous save.

cheers

I found it! Thanks, Illustratedman!

Man, that's one uuuuuugly helmet! It clashes with any and every armor I can find. Yuck!!! :x But its constant-effect breathe-water enchantment is very cool, and its Detect Life, at only 20 feet range, much less so. I plan to wear it only in situations that need it.

Spoiler follows: Here's a way to find it: swim straight out from the western shore of that island west-northwest of Anvil, until you see the sea floor leveling out way below. You should be able to see a circle of boulders on the sea floor (your local map will show it if you haven't figured out how to eliminate the murkiness). Swim until you are straight south of that circle and look (north) straight towards it. Think of it as a clock face. There is an outlying boulder at 2:00 and one at 4:00. The helmet is very near the boulder at 4:00. Breathe-water spells or potions are highly recommended-- it's deep!

it's real easy to find, If you know where to look, I just went out to that small island facing the ocean running and I jumped right in and swam to the buttom and found it at once. No big deal.
I came, I saw, I made a ultra kill

The VERY best detailed map to find Fin Gleam is here...

http://forums.xbox-scene.com/lofiversio ... 06304.html

I found it the very first dive and had NO waterbreathing spell at all, grabbed it and put it on to get back to the surface.

If you have Natural Waters mod or somthing similar you can usually see the skeleton with fin gleam when your standing on the little island :)
