A Renegade's Justice

"What the [&@%!] is going on here." Sean said, noticing two of the men that had saved him.

The Saloon
The man in black nodded, and bent down to search thoroughly.

"Enjoying yourself?" one of the gaffers asked.

"Shut up!" the man said indignantly, turning to Prague and shaking his head.

The Indian nodded solemnly and hoisted the body of his dead companion onto his shoulder with the strength of a bull. He moved to Marty's corpse as if to do the same.

Meanwhile, the man in black went to take a seat at one of the tables.

Jacob followed the man in black.
"Now if you don't mind? What's your name and what did Marty steal?"

The Saloon
The Indian left nonchalantly, the bodies draped over his shoulders. The townsfolk returned to swapping tales and drinking as if nothing had happened.

The man in black looked annoyed, but answered, "Jonathan Marston's the name, and yours?" He avoided the second question.

The situation, whatever it had been, had obviously been resolved, so Sean went to the bar for another drink.

"I'm Jacob Riley," Jacob said, "Now Mister Marston, what did he take that was worth killing over?"

"If you're looking for hired hands, I will consider the job." Alex told the man that had came for something Marty had stolen from his employer. "It will depend on the nature of it though." He added afterwards.

The Saloon
Marston sighed, "Well, it looks like- HEY!"

He jumped out of his chair and strode toward the one-eyed barkeep, who was clutching something in his hand. "Give that back!"

In answer, Old Mack kicked Marston in the shin and ran as fast as his feeble body would allow him towards the door.

"Mack! Get over here!" Jacob shouted as he went after the man.

Sean got up from his stool.

"What the hell do you think you're doing. That man's a cripple!"

The Saloon
Jacob would've easily been able to catch the elderly barkeeper, if it wasn't for the fact that he'd pulled out a gun, and was firing over his shoulder. Most of the shots went wild, but one bullet grazed Jacob's arm.

At the sound of gunfire, Sean drew his gun. Not knowing who to aim it at he pointed it in the air.

Alex went to help Jacob and saw the man firing over his shoulder. "Drop the gun!" He told Mack as he chased after the pair. He knew someone could get hurt if Mack wasn't careful and hoped that he could prevent bystanders from getting shot. He withdrew his revolver as he ran after the man whilst trying to dodge the bullets.

The Mack Chasers
Mack reached a horse, but he couldn't summon enough strength to pull himself up. The old man fell on his back, dazed, but still wielding his firearm. He waved it menacingly at the two men, a mute's signal to "[&@%!] off".

Jacob didn't draw his gun.
"Mack drop the gun."

[Rook]

Outside
Mack shook his head, pointing to himself with his free hand. Jacob could guess it meant, "Mine."

"Drop it!" Alex ordered Mack as he aimed his gun at the man's head. If Mack aimed it at anyone, he would pull the trigger. He did not like risking the lives of innocent bystanders.

Seeing a group of men follow the barkeep out of the saloon, Sean followed. He wanted to know what was going on, there could be a profit to be made from this, although he wasn't sure how.

"That goes for you as well, you saw what happened last time you tried to stop something," Jacob said to Alex, "Mack, what did you take- I'm just asking, I won't take it off you."

"People could get hurt if you're not careful." Alex told Jacob whilst maintaining the aim.

[Rook]

Outside
No one knew how old Mack's mind worked. He'd drifted into town, signaled that he could run a bar, and no one had ever questioned him. So no one knew why, on that fateful day, Mack did what he did.

Mack looked around, his heart beating fast. Then he did the only logical thing, he pointed his gun at his head, and pulled the trigger.

Disregarding the commotion outside, Jacen O'Connor drifted smoothly into the saloon. "Evening boys." He announced aloud, not to any particular person. He took a seat at the bar and ordered a glass of whisky.

Jacob stormed back into the bar looking for Marston.

Sean ran out just in time to see the barkeep shoot himself.

"What the [&@%!]"

"Darn it!" Alex said after watching the man blow his own brains out. He went to retrieve the stolen item after putting his gun away and would give it to Jacob.
