Re: Skyrim Moments You Just Have to Share!
Well, I was playing on my nord girl Brynja a little bit ago, and there was some interesting things that was going on when she was doing the Companion's questline!
One of the quests took her to Treva's Watch, where she had to nab some plans. When she got there, though, there was a guy named Stelleo who was trying to take the fort back and rescue his family! The quest progressed normally (since, well, the Silver Hand are basically renamed bandits...), though I guess it made Brynja even more mad - not only was the Silver Hand bothering the Companions, but they where acting basically as lowly bandits.
Later on, when she was doing another Companion quest, one of the Silver Hand leaders was an orc. After she killed him, she looked at one of the books on the bookshelf, and noticed it was a guide on Skyrim for Imperial legionaries! I like to pretend, atleast for that character, the orc was an ex-solider, who ended up taking a life of petty crime and joined the Silver Hand.
Of course all of this was just random radiant stuff from the AI, but it was pretty funny and cool with how it all fell together! It does remind me that I really wish the Silver Hand was fleshed out more, and wasn't just thrown in last minute (because playing through it, it seems like that's what Beth did. All well, I guess.)

Playing as Frank, Dawnguard. Walk out of Proudspire and get jumped by Vampires. Vampires dispatched just across from the house. Vampire body is sort of in the way, Frank moves the body to nearby bushes of thistle and nightshade, the body buries itself into the ground. Now that was cool. Self burying body!

Re: Skyrim Moments You Just Have to Share!
This was on my first playthrough a while back, possibly immediately after downloading an update, but I remember clearly. I was a Heavy BattleMage, Dunmer with a sword in one hand and fire in the other, and had never heard of kill-cams.
Do you remember that part of Ustengrav - where you delve for Jorgen's Horn - when you come out of the catacombs and the space just opens up in blue? So I took in that sight for a few moments, the mist and the sounds of water and wait, is that a skeleton creaking? So I turn left and dash in, crumbling him with a swipe or two when I see another red dot. He must be up that stairway. I wanna use my fire on him.
So I charge up my spell and jog up the stairs, trying to line it up so I can fire right when i see it, whatever it is. As I crest the steps I see his grinning skull and let loose, and at that exact moment he must have triggered the furnace trap that I didn't know was there. The camera shifts to about lined up with my knees, showing my fierce Dunmer eyes flash with the fury of my loosed Firebolt as a wall of flame erupts behind me. My spell connects squarely in the sternum as the skeleton bursts apart, absolutely engulfed.
I think my jaw dropped almost as far as the skeleton's.

So I accept the quest from Wayfinder to find his lost Void-Salts, It takes me to the "Brood Cave" I go in and the arrow directs me to a chest not far from the entrance. I approach the chest and find a dead hunter lying next to a dead bear...I loot the hunter and proceed to loot the bear only to discover that it was in fact not dead but only sleeping, and it had friends as well.

There is nothing quite like the feeling of making your way through the last dark brotherhood quest completely undetected, then killing and sneaking out with the Legion remaining completely unaware.

Re: Skyrim Moments You Just Have to Share!
I was in whiterun with my newish mage guy, who is sneaky with good bow, illusion (good ish) and restoration skills but not much more. Most level ups have gone into magicka and stamina (30th level, 140 health). Just starting destruction but no major perks. Absolutely horrendous defensive skills. Horrendous, lives by keeping the initiative and escaping.
so a skinny guy walks up to me, he's a mage, challenges me to a fight. No way to avoid it, zap zap two perked lightning bolts hit me and I am dead before i can even cycle through my faves/spell inventory for maybe a good scroll. The guards and kids in the street don't care, they just say stuff like "oooh it's a fight, cool", even though i would imagine a mage duel outside the blacksmiths at lunch time is pretty dangerous for passers by and would constitute a severe breach of the peace. This happens twice, i realise i dont have anything ready to go that will kill this challenger and if i run he'll kill me
annoyed, i reload a third time and as i see the mage walking this way, i back out of whiterun and fast travel somewhere nearby. There's a shout behind me and a dunmer with an axe runs up to me and smack smack, i am dead again. Reload again and go to the same place, and manage to keep out of trouble long enough to use a scroll, get out the bow, etc etc - this axe guy is a random Boethiah cultist and gives me the quest to investigate that quest
lol the crap mages have to endure, my other characters would have just pwned them and wondered what was going on - i havent activated the main plot yet, am almost scared to have dragons to contend with too

Re: Skyrim Moments You Just Have to Share!
I know that feeling. The very same thing happened to my Dunmer when I was dumb enough to try out the Apprentice stone. She came out of the inn at Dragon Bridge and a challenger was waiting on the street, and she was dead within a second. Then the game reloaded the autosave, and I was lucky because that guy didn't spawn again. Needless to say I ditched the Apprentice stone for the Steed as soon as possibleMattbott wrote:I was in whiterun with my newish mage guy, who is sneaky with good bow, illusion (good ish) and restoration skills but not much more. On the other hand she's almost invincible inside dungeons. Just yesterday she cleared Dead Man's Respite without taking a single hit from her enemies. Just hid in the shadows and sniped away with her bow, and occasionally summoned an atronach to speek things up a bit. Sniping the Olaf draugr from a distance without him detecting her felt really badass.
Re: Skyrim Moments You Just Have to Share!
Reason why my mage-charcters just calm him if they are on to low a level do deal with him in a more a fry all his nerves or skin kind of way. But usually ends with him stalking me and last time with a dead guard after he started attacking me again.Mattbott wrote:annoyed, i reload a third time and as i see the mage walking this way, i back out of whiterun and fast travel somewhere nearby. Hmm, talking about calm-spells. A few months ago a mage character, that I since then abandoned, just came out of Lost Valley Redoubt to recover some of Shalidor's lost writings and then saw some red blots appear on the compass. I saw then three figures with one clearly in heavy armor wielding a two handed weapon. I presumed they where a group of bandits fighting of some wolves. And because I was low on supplies having fought of dozens of Forsworn, hags and one hadravens I forgo my usual tactic for dealing with bandits (namely casting frenzy at them and then fishing of the survivors) I cast pacify. Then I noticed I was Farkas, that dunmer and the companion drunk. Lucky I had chosen a different approach or the companions might have lost a few members that day.

Well, I was going to provide a link, but the Nexus is being retarded, as usual. Anyway, for those of you on PC who suffer from the "getting murdered by attackers in the middle of the town while the guards stand there and do nothing" woes, check out Reactive Guards by our very own Marelo. It adds the player to the guard factions (I think), so guards actually help against enemies they normally wouldn't bother with. It's saved my butt more than once.
Signatures are overrated.

Re: Skyrim Moments You Just Have to Share!
After four or five times trying to take on a boss and his flunkies through sheer force, I decided to change tactics. The next time, instead of rushing in, I waited above them until they were all clumped in the right place, then sent Fire Breath at them. That ignited the pool of oil they were standing on, and between the two fires, it finished off every one of them, except the boss, and he was weakened enough he gave me no trouble. It felt amazing to be able to use my surroundings and tactics I usually forget to do something so powerful.

Re: Skyrim Moments You Just Have to Share!
This morning while playing with Fierce-Bear and Agmaer, went to Ancient's Ascent to defeat the same dragon we just defeated the day before? Huh, same quest given out by Jarl Siddgear. Dragon is a blood dragon, he's putting up a good fight. Frank is switching weapon's and looking to see how Agmaer is doing, he is down panting...or rather in mid air panting above the dragon. Oops. That looked pretty funny.
First time I have ever seen that particular glitch.

Re: Skyrim Moments You Just Have to Share!
Got quite nasty a surprise today. I was near Riften Stables, when the combat music started playing. As it was night, I feared another vampire attack. Instead, I found two frostbite spiders. I laughed at them and quickly dispatched them. But then the battle music didn't stop, and two more red dots appeared in the compass. At the same instant I realized this, a blood dragon flew over roaring and breathing fire. And the other enemy? A vampire lady. It was a darn good thing the guards and Khajiit traders were around. They distracted the dragon, while I hacked away at the vampire, who had an infuriating habit of gliding away just a tiny bit faster than I could run. In the end, though, she was more dead than before, and I could concentrate on the dragon. I must say the Riften guards are a tough bunch. Namely, they had beaten the dragon to such a state that it had already landed and a few bolts finished it. And all without casualties.

Did the Horses join in? I have seen the badass Riften horses gang up on enemies. Pretty cool battle too.

Not this time, but earlier, when I was attacked by another vampire lady and a Boethiah cultist next to Windhelm stables, the horses there jumped into the fray. The cultist didn't last long when two horses bashed him with their hooves. It was cool, but then the horse attacked me, too, after I accidentally hit it. Luckily it didn't continue when I sheathed my sword and backed away. Cost me 40 gold for assault, though.

Re: Skyrim Moments You Just Have to Share!
My Dunmer, Amara, delivered some ashes to Runil in Falkreath today. She hadn't been to the cemetery before, and so the burial scene from Ill Met By Moonlight happened when she arrived.
After giving the ashes to Runil she decided to speak to Mathies about who had been buried, and the dialogue option at the top was 'I have gourds to sell'.
Yeah, I'm sure that'll be the first thing on his mind at the burial of his dead daughter...

Look Who's Talking
I know that the derpiness of Skyrim foes that don’t get it when you are sneaking around them has been the subject of countless fan art before, but what amused me in this instance was that the bandit was going on about how the Falmer have no eyes right before failing to spot my character.

I was on a (third) Companions quest within Falkreath hold, this time to clear Haemar's Shame. One of the vampires in the final room retreated when she was weak. When she started running back, I shot a vaguely aimed arrow, and it hit just as she turned to come down the steps.

Re: Skyrim Moments You Just Have to Share!
Two memorable moments today:
1.) I randomly encountered Vilkas & Ria hunting sabrecats in the northern Reach (do those two have anything going btw? They seem to spend quite a lot of time together); took quite a while to position myself in the right angle and fumble with the camera for a memorial photo with Vilkas, and when I finally got around to engaging him in conversation after having stood in front of him wordlessly for a few minutes first thing he said was, "Quite the talkative one, are you?" If my Bosmer were into men at all I could have married him on the spot for that piece of dry humour.
2.) A short while later I discovered Mor Khazgur and got challenged to a brawl by chief Larak. Remembering how tough my last brawl with Uthgerd the Unbroken had been (and an embarrassing defeat at the hands of Mikael the bard early in my career), I put everything I had into the fight and was gobsmacked when I suddenly got a killcam and watched my scrawny little Bosmer grab that bulky Ork, lift him above her head and throw him onto the ground where he landed dead (I wasn't even aware unarmed killcams were a thing until then). Unfortunately Borgakh the Steelheart deemed I had sinned against the Code of Malacath and cut me to pieces so I had to reload, but it was totally worth it.

Re: Skyrim Moments You Just Have to Share!
So, for whatever reason, I had been getting dead dragons appearing whenever I leave a cell. Specifically, I was on Solstheim, and on three separate occasions, three different dragons appeared, dead. Weird, but nothing notable considering the amount of mods I have installed.
But then I return to Skyrim, and I'm at Skyborn Altar having a grand old time fighting whatever Dragon is there. I beat him, and climb down into the Labyrinth to fight some Frost Trolls.
When what do you know.
But those three "dead" dragons appear."
TLDR; I fought three dragons and several frost trolls for about an hour before the sun came up, I ran out of stamina (Vampire) and I was burnt to a crisp.

That happens to me all the time, not limited to, but especially on Solstheim. Just today I fast travelled in Skyrim and a dead dragon fell and I absorbed his soul then too.But I don't have any mods so I think it is a game glitch, maybing having to do mostly with the DB add on.

Re: Skyrim Moments You Just Have to Share!
What should one think when you suddenly get ambushed by three half-naked guys who announce: "We are here to teach you a lesson."?
Oh god...
Damn youuuu!
Oh and btw, she accidentally killed Lydia during the whole ruckus. Now that's just sad since she just stepped out from Whiterun with her brand new follower.

Re: Skyrim Moments You Just Have to Share!
Nothing exciting to report but I do find the unintentionally amusing comments from followers to be, well....amusing!
Marcurio and I were in Folgunthar (sp?) and he stands on a booby trap stone, then decides to just stay standing in the middle of the double flame thrower. His comment, ' Arghh! Just......a scratch.'
Creeping around in dark ominous ruins, a lovely bit of encouragement with the comment, 'I don't like the looks of this.'
In the middle of a dragon fight: 'You can't beat me!' The getting killed a minute later.
On a side note, I was surprised to find a dead mammoth pinned against a cliff-side by a bunch of spears. It was standing upright as if it were alive. Odd.
