Teinaava, you are trying to take down entire armies with loosely based, biased, and frankly pointless, little tiny diversions that are distracting entire trains of thought by centering on what wans't said, but is common sense to ASSUME that you are taking advantage of. It's called selective exploitation. I'm pretty sure Argonians couldn't make everything they would need on their own because it has been statistiaclly proven that NO COUNTRY CAN BE COMPLETELY AND WHOLLY SELF-SUFFICIENT. THIS IS THE WHOLE REASON THAT THE UN EXISTS ON TERRA-FIRMA, THEIR DUTY IS TO CUT OFF TRADE FROM COUNTRIES DOING THINGS THAT THEY DON'T APPROVE OF AND I DON'T THINK THEY WOULD SPEND YEARS OF DELIBERATION AND BILLIONS OF DOLLARS ON SOMETHING THAT ISN'T NECESSARY. Now that I've made my point that Argonia will definitely need trading to survive I can move on.

I really honestly don't think that the swamp would be a problem, one or two days march, especially from the coast, won't mean the destruction of an entire army. The Alliance would be well aware of the shadowscales and would take whatever precaution needed to prevent or derail any attacks. Bretons and Redguards have espionage, too. It's called the Dark Brotherhood... That's all for now, my mind is foggy and my eyes are watering so it's kinda hard to think (and really hard to be nice :P ). If anyone finds this information inflaming and offensive I will be happy to edit and formally apologize for anything said.
^ Perfectly explains the situation.

Teniva, you like argonains a little to much for a decent statement, Argonia would lose, bottom line.

1) I fixed my name, which you horribly misspelled.

2) Just because I like Argonians doesn't mean I can't make a valid argument.

That's not true. It's because you like Argonians that you can't make a valid arguement :P  .

It's quite funny to see the massive difference of racial favoritism between different forums.

Where I came from, the Argonians and Bosmer are like worshipped, while the Orcs, Altmer, and Imperials are shot down almost immediately (and this is from what I've seen in both of the seperate 360 and PS3 Oblivion boards at GameFAQs).

...And then there's the one or two people who call everyone racist whenever it appears that the Redguards have no support. Man, the TES lore developers are doing their job if they can get everyone fired up to an extent like this over fictional races.

Here's a recent and ongoing example:

> Alilatias of GameFAQs' PS3 Oblivion board and Bethsoft forums. Proud female gamer. The PS3 is not a typo. >_>

High Elves would be a good bet. They are probably the most organised and strategic race once Imperials are put aside.

The argonian due to their skill in guerilla warfare from fighting the imperial legions from claiming black marsh and ability to survive harsh conditions, or possibly the bosmer

This is exactly why they couldn't take over! They are good in their marsh, but everything else and they fail. they might be able to become independtent though, but only if the new ruler's forces wouldn't be strong enough.

After a long discussions between each other, other races would make a pact for cutting cyrodiil into parts and adding them to their homeland, then the empire should fall apart and there would be independent countries of the region of Tamriel :P
Unfortunately, Skyrim wouldn't get any land (likewise High rock) and Nords, being so harsh and hot-blooded would start a war with High rock, because according to Nords themselves, Skyrim would be in need of more land, and High rock is the best land they could get, because Vvardelfell would be to big piece for them. Nords' actions would call out the war of all races and there would be no Imperials, so nobody would stop it. The war would finish with all races gone, except Nords, Redguards and Bretons. I don't know what would be next...
One thing clear: the would be a waaaaaarrrr! *ehem*

I've mentioned in the 'Where should the next Elder Scrolls game be set?' discussion, that Khajiiti and Argonians might unite to address grievances thay have at being enslaved by certain members of the empire. They could, if given the right impetus and strategies, unite and push northwards into Cyrodiil. They might be aiming for Morrowind to exact revenge there first.
I think that if this happened, the Dunmer would prevail as they are led by the Nerevarine who, in my case, is a rock-hard 100th level psycho.

If the Empire is gone, could the dragonfires be extinguished forever, thus allowing beasties from Oblivion to take over the mundus?

Orcs, Redguards and Nords would all be up for a fight in a power vacuum.
I suppose the danger would then be that all of the 'player character' races would squabble amongst themselves and gradually wear each other down until finally the goblins took over.

Guerilla warfare could be used on the offensive if you seriously think about about not just defensive and argonians are smart enough to know how to send a small force to disrupt bigger forces.

Simple even in unswampy areas go in at night attack a few then get a few more to follow you while they follow you into a trap

Argonians could take out most races excpet for maybe bretons, bosmer and Altmer

Yes guerilla warfare can be an effective offensive tactic, the vietcong used this to great effect in vietnam. I personally don't have a real opinion on this matter, because there isn't any one group large enough to take tamriel.

Like I said before, if the Bretons and Redguards did not ally and the Altmer had a master strategist, which is very likely since they love to be 1000 or so and one could study for 500 years on strategy, then the Altmer could take over Tamriel. However the Bretons and Redguards would most likely ally in the best interest of both their races.

Breton and Redguard union seems to be very probable event
If that would happen, Nords would fail on their assault against High rock.

I like the idea of the Alliance. Although in my opinion i think that the dunmer would break off and take over morrowind. Although a civil war seems likely so thats a big who knows event. I could see black marsh becoming independent as well just because the argonians seem to be getting called back to it in oblivion. Plus ,also in my opinion, Black marsh would seem like a waste of effort as seeing that only Lizards would want to live there. So my vote is Alliance (Redguard/Breton) take over all except for Morrowind, Black marsh and I say the Altmer retain Summerset.

I'll write what i think would happen to every single still existing race in tamriel. :)
Argonians: They would capitulate in black marsh after Breton/Redguard assault into black marsh, destroying the hist sap and many Argonians.
Khajiit: They would attack Bosmeri to capture their lands and make themselves stronger when such a war is going on. Unfortunatelly, atfer a long war with wood elves, they would not take their forests, but would safely defend their own lands, still independent.
Orcs: They would be simply destroyed in the wars, nothing else about them.
Wood elves: While defending their own lands from Khajiit, they would have no time to do anything else in the empire. So lands of Valenwood and Elsweyr would be like diferent empire, with own war. No other race would disturb them in this war, since everyone would have their own problems. After defending their lands, they would become neutral race and live peacefully.
Nords: Would attack Breton in High rock, but after Redguards joining Breton, Nords would fail and try to attack and make a post in Cyrodiil. But Breton/Redguard alliance would already be there, and successfuly defend center of the empire, keeping Nords no other choise but just to defend their own land.
Dunmer: Suddenly Altmer would invade Morrowind and conquer it, making Dark Elves being their slaves.
Redguards: Would make an alliance with Breton and conquer Cyrodiil and Black Marsh
Breton: See Redguards. :)
Altmer: They would start war against all of Tamriel in order to rule all the lands ond make all living races become their slaves. First they would travel to Morrowind in secret and take over Morrowind. With more power, Altmer would attack Skyrim, but Nords would make a deal with Altmer before they take over Skyrim too. Then Altmer would have Dunmer and Nords as their slaves. Then there would be a big battle against Redguard/Bosmer alliance. The battle would be quite equivalent, but then second wave of Altmer from Summerset isle would invade Cyrodiil and after long battle Altmer would rule the situation.
Goblin tribes: The war in cyrodiil would prevent them to move into lands of Elsweyr and Valenwood. Tribes would be destroyed by Wood Elves and Khajiit one by one in time.

All this battle would finish with Altmer dominating and having all races as slaves, except some completely destroyed, and having all lands as their own except Skyrim, Elsweyr and Valenwood. Though all those lands would be taken too, after some time.

Why would the Redguards and Bretons make an alliance just to conquer Black Marsh and Cyrodill? I understand why you'd try to capture Cyrodill but not Black Marsh. It wouldn't be easy, for reasons stated in other posts, and I doubt you'd capture it. But if you did somehow capture it, what would you gain? A bunch of swamp and marsh, unfit for anything that could boost your economy but you'd loose many troops as well as supplies.

They would make an alliance to conquer more regions, but after they would have Cyrodiil and Black marsh conquered, Altmer would be in Morrowind already, leaving them no choice, but just to defend already conquered lands, seeing how strong Altmer were.

Black marsh is rather more useful just as a teritory. With other regions conquered, Breton/Redguards alliance just cut map of Tamriel into 2 pieces, while in the middle would be their sector. They would do that because other regions would become kind of isolated then. Does that make sense? By the way Argonians would be unpredictable if left aside. At least i think so.
EDIT: And i'm not sure if Argonians, even very well united and in their prefered lands would resist against armies of Redguards and Breton...

this disscution is going nowere it is clear that the argonians would not be able to be succsesfully occupied while in turn they lack the millitery backbone to take over my bet would be on the nords banding together and... getting smashed by this alliance the altmer defending its bourders andthe kajitt staying out of it 8)

I disagree actually, having a long speard out empire like sourrounded by potential enemies would be an extremely dangerous position, the length of their borders alone would take a massive and expensive army to maintain. Due to the spread out nature of such a position it's unlikely that they could deal with any more than one threat at a time without leaving their borders dangerously undefended.
I seriously doubt that they could rise that kind of numbers.
