I'll get back to you on where I may or may not wish to live in the 4th era after I've played through Skyrim a bit

Late 3rd era, Nord/Breton descent (based off actual ancestry), probably a scribe or a scholar at the Arcane University.

Well, we don't get to choose who we are when we are born in real life
Knowing that, since I am ethnically Norwegian and Scottish I guess I'd be a Nord. I don't like the cold though and I grew up in a warm place so I doubt I'd be in Skyrim. Maybe Leyawiin, the cypress trees and swamps there remind me of my own home (Florida).
If I could choose a profession I'd love to be a scholar, researching the various ruins around Tamriel. I love exploring the ruins in every TES game and imaging all the history that took place there. Some of my favorite quests are those that involve delving into ruins and learning a bit about it's story so I'd love to do it for real if I lived there (though I like my internet, video games, TVs and creature comforts too much to want to live there

Either as a Dunmer or Bosmer in Vivec, Morrowind or an Imperial/Redguard in Daggerfall, High Rock.

Re: Where in Tamriel would you live and what race would you
If you were to translate my heritage in real life to Tamriel, I'd... probably be a Breton? I'm basically half German, and the other half is (mostly) British - ie: Welsh, English, Irish, and apparently Scottish, with Welsh/English being the biggest parts, from my understanding. I'm pretty short in real life (5'1") so I guess Bretons are the most fitting for that, too! Though, I'd probably be a Breton with substantial Nord heritage, considering my dad's family is pretty German. And by Breton I mean more "Reachmen" since they seem to have more Celtic culture -- I do have some French heritage, but it's basically same amount as my Native American ancestry, so that... doesn't mean much I guess, lol.
Though if you want to use the "child always takes after mother's race" logic, I'd probably be whatever race that is closest to Native Americans. (Though by the time that comes to me, any Native American blood I have is... pretty diluted. Of which race that'd be though, I have no idea. Bosmer, maybe? Though I think of them being more generic fantasy elf mixed with, I don't know, Aztecs or something but hey.)
Though if one was able to choose their race, I'd probably be a dark elf or high elf! I love magic.
As for where I'd live... I have no idea. It'd probably some somewhere like the College of Winterhold, where I could be secluded and with other people with related interests, and work on studying magic. I'm kind of shy in real life, so I guess that would work pretty well. Though, assuming I'm a BA Player Character/on par ability-wise, I'd probably do a lot more traveling -- checking out Dunmer history and the remnants of Morrowind, having ties to Winterhold/learning what I can from there, and learning more about the Ayleid's in Cyrodiil. Maybe even doing research on some of the Dwemer ruins.
I don't think I'd like whatever protegee filled the footsteps of the Mage's Guild in Cyrodiil, though. Sounds more political than research to me.

Let's see...part Pict and part Norman? I guess I'm a Reachman and I'd probably make my home there.
Probably a Legion spell-slinger of some kind, given my real-life interests and inclinations.
