Why would Maven want you dead without you even doing anything to her, though?

Why do you get attacked by random people (not bandits) while you're just walking around? The Dovahkiin has just as many friends as enemies.Crusader's Amour wrote:Why would Maven want you dead without you even doing anything to her, though?

I always thought the friend wasThelastdovah wrote:The Dovahkin has a mysterious friend that always know where he shouts and sends him a letter. A thought occured to me. It's Talos. He is forbidden to interfer directly so he uses an avatar that doesn't draw any attention and helps the Dovahkiin indirectly as he doesn't want to see Alduin win and may hope that they defeat the Thalmor.

Why can't you adopt Aventus Aretino? I mean, I can think of good reasons why you might not want to, but it's not even possible.

Re: Skyrim mysteries
I would assume that it ties in with Supply_and_Demand, since from what I remember it's pretty heavily insinuated that Maven wanted the Skooma dealers dead so she could take control of the den.Resolute Crusader wrote:the dark sacrament in the black briar manor.
It's been suggested that the dark sacrament is targeted at the player, but still.
This dialog, of course, is dependent upon putting Maven in the Jarl's seat before becoming the Thane of Riften, however her machinations are independent of her public position; she has reason to want the den "shut down" from the start.
In my mind, and I don't really recall there being any in-game dialog to support this, I imagine the Skooma dealers either wanted a higher percentage of the profits, or wanted to cut Maven out completely. That seems like a quick way onto Maven's short list of people with a short lifespan.
Basically, Maven is Evil with a capital E, and has no qualms about murdering someone to garner herself more power, either through the illusion of a "noble" quest to rid the town of a drug problem, or by straight up paying assassins.
All that being said, I highly doubt that the Skooma Den is the first, only or last time that Maven wanted someone to "disappear", and has quite likely performed the Black Sacrament numerous times.

Why are we not using chicken eggs to cook? Eggs for food, a novel idea. Anyway think it's a mystery that we only have them for potions.

You can cook with them. You can use them for baked goods in Hearthfire.

Re: Skyrim mysteries
Regarding the letter from a friend, i have a theory about who he is. It's far fetched but it's Akatosh. He uses the Dovahkiin's Dragon Soul as a GPS and knows when they shout. He wants to see Alduin returned to him and knows that the Dovahkiin needs to be as powerful as they can get.

Re: Skyrim mysteries
The only issue is Alduin was made very weak to the PC on purpose - doom driven hero/heroine of scroll-bound fate.

Re: Skyrim mysteries
Depending on your perspective on the deities, saying it's Akatosh is a roundabout way of saying it's Lorkhan/Talos. They do act independently, but in very important ways are the same entity. Spacetime, and all that.
Re: Skyrim mysteries
Al religions of old and the modern new ones contain remanant sacrificial or pseudosacrificial rituals, this for you find pesonal items( armor, weapon, food, beverage, money, jewlery. clotes) in burial sites and or containers. Crude and rudimentary understanding and base of rite of pasage to the next world is often seen as a journey phisical journey, because they had no spiritual perception aka not been able to imagine the whole proces, so they would "equip" the dead for it,Felicia wrote:Similarly, who is wandering around every urn in Skyrim and putting 3-10 gold in each one?BetaB17 wrote:To be honest I think I have one of the biggest mysteries>_>

BetaB17: I really think about that too. I mean, I say, how sketchey is this stuff going to be? If it is not an active camp or if the Hagraven's and Necromancer's are storing it...well I have no part of it.

***my newest mystery?? What do you have to do to get silver swords smithed? We have all these silver supplies and yet I cannot seem to work on the silver swords other than enchanting. If I could, Frank would wield a LEVELED Silver 2H sword, and kill some undead, seriously? (playing vanilla PS3).

Yeah, it's a little odd that they would include silver weapons in the game, but no way to improve them. There are mods, of course, but that doesn't help the people who play on consoles.

Why cant you make long/hunting bows at a forge? it just seems silly that you can make top notch daedric bows but not ones that are basically a stick with string.

What is this "copper" stuff that some circlets are made from?
There are no copper mines, no copper ore and no copper ingots anywhere. Still, Skyrim is littered with circlets made of copper. Who made them and what did they use?
