In Whiterun, Bethelor (Bethelor's Goods) and Adrianna (Warmaiden's) were killed in a fight with intruders at the main gate. Naturally, their shops were then closed. I thought that by bringing them back to life, they'd be back in business.
So I resurrected them both. Bethelor immediately went into his shop but it's locked and never opens regardless of the time of day. When I resurrected Adrianna, I was able to trade with her outside her shop, but if she goes inside I'm out of luck because, like Bethelor's, the shop is always closed.
What's the trick to reopening the shops?
how to reopen shops of killed shopkeepers?

You could try recycleactor and see if that fixes the problem. Not sure it will do anything, though.
Signatures are overrated.

Re: how to reopen shops of killed shopkeepers?
It's things like this that make me wonder what ever happened to the advertised feature of relatives or other people taking over the shops of dead shopkeepers.
As for Adrianna: shouldn't the guy inside the shop keep it open? I've had some issues with him for a while, though, where he'd just stand inside near the fireplace, without ever opening the shop. I kinda have a suspicion that the USKP broke his AI package.

Re: how to reopen shops of killed shopkeepers?
Adrianna has a seperate merchant's inventory from her husband which results in Warmaiden's having 2 merchants to trade with. He won't take over her shop as a result of that. But i think her death does cause him to become depressed and Warmaiden's just gets closed down as a result. The relatives taking over a shop feature is in the game but it only applies to certain NPCs. Have you tried using the console to bring her back to life? or try to force him to open the shop?
EDIT:It's a bug. Try breaking into Warmaidens to see if it will force the game to correct itself.

I tried a break-in during normal business hours. Once inside nobody there but a guard that I had to pay off to avoid going to jail.Thelastdovah wrote:Adrianna has a seperate merchant's inventory from her husband which results in Warmaiden's having 2 merchants to trade with. Also - at the time that Adrianna was killed, while her body was still lying outside the shop, I went in with no problem and her husband was gone, though he had not been in the fight outside. I haven't seen him since. Once Adrianna's body was gone, the shop was locked.
In addition, though I resurrected (using the console placeatme command) Adrianna. I haven't seen her since. Normally she is outside her shop just about every daylight hour.
PS - as far as I know the resurrect command only works if you are at the dead NPC and can click on the body...

If either command will do it properly, it will be recycleactor. I use it to correct the exact same problem of Dawnguard Vampire attacks killing NPCs with no issues.perylousdemon wrote:You could try recycleactor and see if that fixes the problem. Not sure it will do anything, though.
Re: how to reopen shops of killed shopkeepers?
Here's what I discovered...
I used the console moveto command for Adrianna, Bethelor and Ulfberth (Warmaiden counter man) and was put in a crypt of dead bodies where the NPC's were all dead on the floor.
I selected the three NPC bodies one at a time and used recycleactor and resetAI on each one. I expected the dead body to disappear upon revival, but it didn't.
Using moveto Adrianna to get back to Whiterun, I found Adrianna in her underwear at work outside Warmaiden's, so I used the resetinventory command to get her back into her clothes. She's able to trade with me, but her shop remained locked. With Adrianna standing outside at mid-day, I broke in. No sign of Ulfberth behind the counter, only a guard there to arrest me. I paid off the guard, went back outside and Warmaiden's remained unlocked.
Next I went to Bethelor's shop, still locked. I broke in and there he was behind the counter, but the dialog doesn't offer trading. A guard appeared, I paid him off, then went outside and Bethelor's remained open. I let a day pass to see if the shop would be open the next day and it was.
So I am back in business with Adrianna, but Ulfberth is gone and Bethelor won't trade. At least this is progress!
