Thanks! I've looked at that mod once on Nexusmods, but I didn't notice that it can bring back spell timers. Looks like I've got to give it a try.perylousdemon wrote:I see that you're on the PC. (...) This is the mod you're looking for. The HUD displays spell/potion/other effect durations, as well as lingering damage effects, and you can even customize how much time is on the effects before they start showing on the HUD (to avoid clutter). I believe the default is three minutes or less. Enjoy.Dark Heart wrote:My characters don't dive a lot, so that's less of a problem for me. What irks me more is the removal of the health bar for my horse. I mean, I'm supposed to ride the horse into combat, but I can't see when the horse gets hurt and it might be prudent to start running to keep the horse alive?
Also the spell duration indicators. I understand that Bethesda probably felt that a more unobtrusive HUD would be more immersive, but having to go deep into the magic menu just to check whether that *flesh spell is still active is somewhat cumbersome.
On the whole, I'd like some more customization options. Like some menu where you can check or uncheck specific HUD items that you want or don't want to have.

Freezing is getting me mad now, just killed 3 Bears and a Spriggan in Autumnshade clearing then my game froze.
Fast travelled to Fort Kustav, game froze upon immediate arrival.
Finally pressed 'save', usually laggy anyway until the menu comes up, after waiting 5 minutes I realised it had fell asleep again, stinking HDD stopped flashing as well.

I'm slightly mad at Dawnguard right now. This kind of thing ruins immersion for me and the fact that no one at Beth thought of giving the player a single non-idiotic dialogue option is baffling.

Re: What makes you mad in Skyrim?
Regarding Dawnguard; I hate how early they expect you to start it. By Level 8, Vampires are marauding through cities killing off what few NPCs there already is, making the towns even more barren. So to get rid of this problem, I need to go through an entire questline which is nowhere near befit of someone of my aptitude and equipment, or I might not even want to go through it, having played through Dawnguard three times i'm starting to get bored of it a little, so much so to the point I uninstalled it earlier today when starting a new character.

I know that there is a mod which changes when the Dawnguard vampire attacks start. You could easily set it to level 50 and deal with the vampires later on, or put it at 100 and never have to deal with them at all.

Re: What makes you mad in Skyrim?
Unfortunately I only have the console version, my PC can barely run Morrowind with the MGSE so god knows what Skyrim would do to it. I'm just going to re-install Dawnguard when I feel like I need something to do.
Another thing that makes me mad is how exceptionally shallow the Grey-Beards and the Blades are, not lore wise, but gameplay wise, once you choose between the two the only benefit are the same randomly generated missions over and over again. Don't get me wrong, that's pretty good for two factions related to the main quest, but i'd like it if they threw in a few little unique side quests or objectives just to give the factions a little bit of depth.

The delay between changing weapons and spells via the favourites menu! I have died so many times because the damn delay. Or end up not needing the spell and have to wait a few seconds to switch to another one!

Re: What makes you mad in Skyrim?
Yeh, I hate that lag. I find quite often when I change from spell to shield amidst battle, the shield does not activate and im left with an empty hand!
Also when you dont quite fully ready a spell, and u have to start again. I really like the Flames spell cos its the only one that starts immediately and is constant, which for me feels cooler as magic, but its a really basic destruction spell and doesnt do enough damage to justify using.

It's very annoying during dragon fights as i am rarely able to block the damn breath with a ward due to the damn lag. It's gotten me killed so many times because of it and i know for a fact that if it didn't take so long to switch to, i would have healed myself.

I'm on Xbox 360, not Playstation 3, but I've got rid of 95% of Skyrim crashes in three ways:Jun Satou wrote:Freezing is getting me mad now, just killed 3 Bears and a Spriggan in Autumnshade clearing then my game froze.

1) turning off autosaves.
2) never fast-travelling.
3) removing all weapons and shields from corpses.
For some reason, since one of the later patches (1.8 or 1.9), humanoid corpses don't clear up properly, and the world ends up littered with weapons and shields - often floating in midair. I take all of these items and either sell them (if worth selling) or stash them in a barrel that I know resets, therefore removing them safely from the world.
I have a character who's level 85 with a massively bloated save file since he's done so many things and has so many items stored in his houses, and the game now crashes as often as my level 30 character who's hardly done anything.
Obviously, I can't guarantee that clearing up the game manually will work for Playstation 3 in the same way that it does for Xbox 360, but it's made a huge difference to my game.

In all seriousness, there should be a delay. It does suck sometimes though.

I know but not one that makes me think that it's not working or that the animation is lagging. Swords switching to bows, i understand. Spells, i hate. As it's magic and it should be seemless. Also, i bloody wish that we would not redraw the sword when we switch to another spell whilst already having the sword out as it is annoying. It does it via the 1. or 2. shortcuts.

I haven't had Auto-saves on since 2012
I don't freeze upon entering highly-cluttered spaces or areas
It just freezes whenever it wants to, like roulette. My house in Windstad manor isn't that bad, and I have a lot (almost every) item stored somewhere, (open cabinets/lying around). Yeah, Playstation (or Sony... Or even Bethesda rather) really gets on my nerves.
Thanks for the time and advice though, I bought a house in Riften for my level 102 that's basically wiped the game clean of mysteries and exchanged an enchanters laboratory for a children's bedroom... Now the children are glitched sleeping with mannequins and underneath the enchanters table. -_-
I guess freezing is just one of those things you have to put up with, that's why I'm constantly manually saving (where it even freezes upon that).

Re: What makes you mad in Skyrim?
@Jun Satou; I feel your pain. I have PS3 and sometimes these freezes are devastating. Not sure you have tried this, but when you change screens, don't move immediately let the computer catch up watch the upper left of the screen. Also, my game seems to freeze when my machine has been running more than 2 hours. I figure around my house could be cat hair. Had a TV go south on me and we fixed it, by blowing out the hair and dust inside. Worked fine after. Just some ideas. Also delete unwanted files and such just like in a computer situation, you can have too many cookies etc.
(I have a house keeper, it's not as bad as it sounds. Dust and hair happen)

I have to say that while this does rather break the immersion, consider potions and food.Thelastdovah wrote:I know but not one that makes me think that it's not working or that the animation is lagging. "Whoa, big guy. I need to quaff this arcane liquid and eat a horker sandwich. You don't mind, right?" IMHO such things ought to be more like the vegetable soup, which gives a bonus over a long period of time instead of the equivalent of the morning-after pill. Oops, guess it's time for some meds. That thinking works in COD and Battlefield, not so much in a FRPG.

Well, anyway, one advice I can give you to reduces the amount of lag and crashes is to sell everything you stored somewhere that is not unique or nessesary for your character (even if you have to sell it for 0 gold), then wait a few days so the merchants' chest can reset.
Then, plant every unnessesary key from your inventory into a single resetting container, especially dwemer museum keys, and then wait 10 days so it resets and hopefully gets rid of them.
If you're done with both, wait around 20 days and then save the game on a new save file.
