Which race would in an all-out war, Orcs or Bretons?
As above, which race would win in an all-out war. If either race loses, their homeland is taken over by the other and their race is almost obliterated and the last peoples of it are taken into slavery. List reasons why their race would win. Yes it also just between Orcs and Bretons.

Orcs, they would pound through the breton lines and reign havoc.
(Translation: What about Leet Speak? Dont you hate it too?)
Also i think Orc.
They will demoralize the Breton with their battle cry, then go Berserk and crush then with Slash'n'Smash.
Doin my own, thang, and if you got a problem with that
Then the nina go bang, bang, and I'll be everywhere on the map - but

While I personally hate Bretons, from a more standard point of view, I still think the Orsimer would win.
Not only because they are a lot stronger, but also because they would have a lot of motivation, the idea attacking High Rock, eliminating the Bretons, and getting their own province would make them fight better than ever

^ Great point, when the americans fought the british in the revolutionary war, they were outmatched in class and weaponary, but the british fought for money, they americans for freedom, will, is a powerful thing.
Nothing against the british.
Nothing against the british.

Now lets figure into that the fact that Americans were fighting on their home turf (knew it better). The British were also far away from home (so supplies of that "advanced weaponry" took longer to reach). The Americans had more motivation, because they were fighting for survival, not freedom. Besides, the Americans did get supplies from the Spanish and the French because apparently the British weren't very well liked at the time.
So I bet Bretons would win. All it takes is separation from the homeland and a few Frenzy spells....

They're not surrounded on all sides, as Orcs also inhabit the Dragontail Mountains in Hammerfell. Also, Orsinium isn't a state, it's a city-state, meaning that the Orcs not only control the city but the surrounding area in the Wrothgarian Mountains.Redguard_Master wrote:but also the orc city is inside the breton province. they surrounded on all sides, bad deal.

There are a lot of Breton lovers here? We seem outnumbered by Argonians and Khajiit from what I've seen. Besides, the amount of racial arguments here is nothing compared to GameFAQs.I would say the Orcs are fighting a hopeless battle here, due to vast amounts of breton-lovers on the UESP forums.
I wish I could link to that crazy 'Battle of the Races' that went on for an entire month. Heck, I also wish that I could link to that groan-inducing massive 'Make a Bosmer Joke' thread that was made about two months ago that is still ongoing. Crazy super-obsessive Bosmer hating fools.
------
25% Magic Resist does not make that big of a difference. By the logic that some of you are using, enchanted weapons would hardly do anything to the Bretons, and that's not even considering the fact that Bretons have some great physical defensive (To the person that brought up Berserk: Dragon Skin greater power, anyone?) and healing magic as well. And... There's the, um... Summoning... Factor...
*cough* But anyways, since I hardly take in-game statistics into account in calculating war scenarios, I find that the Orcs would likely take a sizable amount of victories at first, but the rest would be up to what they decide to do after said victories and whether or not the rest of High Rock will unite.
For one, they risk angering the Redguards. The Redguards have sizable control over the Illac Bay - having a war erupt all over High Rock would likely end up crippling their buisness for a long while. They'd sooner side with the Bretons if it meant a quick resolution and would prevent the Illac Bay trade from being affected too much rather than a long and drawn out battle throughout the entire bay.
However, the Orcs can perhaps then organize a treaty with the Redguards and allow them to join their side if it meant that the Redguards could take even more control of Illac Bay trade, although down the road, it could eventually result in Redguard vs Orc conflicts over the rest of the trade.
I'm sorry, I know you only asked for Breton vs Orc, but it's just about impossible in lore terms to completely disregard the significance of the Redguards in this.
However, if the Orcs launch a surprise attack, they can easily take Wayrest before the Bretons could have any chance of mobilizing any kind of resistance, due to the fractured state of High Rock.
Considering that Wayrest is now just about the number one trading port in the entire Illac Bay, if not all of Tamriel... Just about everyone would be feeling the effects. The Orcs could take advantage of this, and instead of completely destroying Wayrest, they would immediately trade for arms and other such things.
There is one thing that I know of that does not border on speculation and possiblities - at least High Rock has a sizable navy, one that is very capable of defending its own land should the time come (see: Camoran Ursurper and his grave error in underestimating the Breton Navy).
I do not think that there has ever been any mention of an Orsinium navy at all, so if the Orcs attempt to use Wayrest to their advantage, they would likely have to give up any thought of trading through sea due to blockades and the like.
As for other possibilities... I need to think more on this. Tomorrow morning, I have to report back to the local high school for registration, etc.
...Man, I hope you guys were able to read these massive strips of text. My brain feels fried right about now. *retreats to GameFAQs*

In an all out war, giving the infantry enchanted weapons is expensive, too expensive. Not to mention all the Soul Gems for recharging.Alilatias wrote:25% Magic Resist does not make that big of a difference. Taking greater powers into account doesn't make too much difference. 60 seconds on the battlefield and it's gone for the day. And summoning is an important factor, but so is what they're summoning. There's a bit of a difference between Scamps and Daedroth.
I'm sure the Orcs would unite if it meant taking back their home. There'll be time for tribal wars once they've got a place to fight in.
I'm sure the Redguard would get involved in some way or another. But if they were to get involved first hand, as in fighting, why would they join the Bretons? They've fought the Orcs and know how formidable a foe they are, maybe they don't want to risk a fight that they know there's a good chance of losing, no matter what side they choose.
And these race wars are fun.

Hmm
The bretons will win i think. They will cast destruction spells and they get some help from summons.

I'm probably exaggerating a bit here, but 60 seconds in terms of spell duration to real life seems to translate to about 45 minutes to an hour in Oblivion time. Not sure if it's about the same rate in the other TES games. The Dog Whisperer wrote:Taking greater powers into account doesn't make too much difference. 60 seconds on the battlefield and it's gone for the day.
I'd say that this is significant enough, if you want to bring in-game statistics into account.
But anyways... Haven't thought of anything else that have nothing to do with statistics, too many factors, etc.
