I liked pretty much everything except the glitches, and fact that theres no fighting on horseback.

Its my favorite game and I've always wanted a game like it since I was three years old.

I have been hooked on Elder Scrolls since finding Morrowind in a bargain bin. There are things I like and dislike in both but all in all I think Oblivion is a step up.

I like the fact that everyone seems to be doing something other than just standing around, they have dinner, or it's time to go to sleep, or leaving the citys' confines.

Oblivion has the best ai out of any game ever made so far, but I think Gears of wars combat ai is better though. I never realized how smart the ai was until I bought my mansion and servant. My servant Eyja makes me pie and mead and keeps things organized and goes to bed and has breakfast lunch and dinner etc.

I dislike the travel system as opposed to the one in Morrowind, and the compass showing nearby forts/caves/etc. I liked the random "Oooh, awesome, a cave!" in Morrowind that still happened after about 300 hours of gametime. On Oblivion there won't be any surprises for me left after a while.

And I dislike allies jumping in front of my attacks and getting [&@%!] at me. Especially since I like to have ALL the good guys live, so having people follow me around makes my job harer.

I would loooove to have a multiplayer options, cooperative most likely. However, I can see why that would cause too much difficulty.

That being said, I'm only so critical of Oblivion because I love it to pieces. Probably the best RPG I've ever played except maybe Morrowind, and of course old school Dungeons and Dragons done well. :)

Well I just pretend that the fast travel is a transportation wagon. But I rarely fast travel because if a royal knight like me is gonna travel to another city, might as well turn it to an expedition! I did fast travel to buy my horse, to get bring my Blades armor to the Arcane University to enchant it, and to bring Martin to the Imperial city.

Only because it takes that long to find the cave.

More like, "Ahhhh, finally, a cave". :P

I liked the new combat, the way sheilding works, lockpicking, improved stealth, the new physics and graphics to magic, detect life, and especially the reworked guilds.

I did not like the instant travel. The architecture of Kvatch and some of the other areas were was amazing design, but I liked Morrowinds immersive world better.

I agree with this statement. The Oblivion compass did "dumb" the game down a bit too much. Finding a cave or fort felt more like an acomplishment in Morrowind. But on the upside, it eliminates that problem when doing quest that say "travel North north east or bruma..." and then you spend hours running around looking for some stupid landmark.

They could have made the Valus mountains more like Morrowind, and they could have made some of the forts not abandoned, and they could have taken away some dungeons and added some Morrowind like towns in the Valus mountains to bring back flashbacks. There were alot of dungeons.

arent they fixing glitches with downloads? i thought they were doing that at least for the 360 version.. i dont know about the computer. but yeah.. this game has me hooked.. i go without playing it for a couple weeks then im hooked playing for a couple hours a night for a couple days-weeks in a row, lol. what i see that would make it wayyy more addicting? Well i think you should be able to make your own armour and clothing (if any of you guys played Ultima Online you kinda have an idea of what im tlaking about) also i think that horseback fighting (which im sure i read in another reply) is a must. then the next step is to finish doing all of the countries or contenents or whatever they are and then maybe make it a mmo.. wow that would be incredible.. there were some other things i was thinking about but they really are stupid minor things.. like facial hair (yeah. i have a beard and its somewhat of a pride thing for me ad my friends.. we are like dragonlance dwarves.. haha.) but yeah.. the fact that there are things for taloring and stuff (like bolts of cloth) but you really cant do anything with them.. or can you? if you can someone please tell me what im missing, lol.

aha! that was the other thing.. yeah that makes it really easy.. kinda like fasttravel.. which i pretty much only use if im late for work and i want to get somewhere before i have to stop playing.. but a way they could fix that (and make it somewhat realistic) is add latitude and longitude type deals with the quests.. then you know the basic area and you dont wonder around forever but you arent directed to the very spot.. then again the markers in towns really helped me learn the towns..

i will admit that the compass made it easy but it really helped the quests. in morrowind it was impossible to complete quests.

Some medium definitely needs to be made. Perhaps a compass that can't magically detect nearby forts/caves?

Yeah, I played through most/all the quests in Morrowind, and I can tell you sometimes I spent hours upon hours looking for a landmark. Especially bad was finding the dead body on top of Mount Kand I think it was for the Imperial Cult quest.

However, I think there's one thing all of us can say:

OBLIVION HAS NO CLIFF RACERS

Hurray :)

OBLIVION HAS NO CLIFF RACERS
That's funny!!! I was just thinking about that the other day. I have read many a thread on the annoyance of Cliff Racers. I was so happy when I finally learned how to levitate(in morrowind), I went up and over a hill and got attacked by three that spotted me right off. Now, had I walked around the hill I could have snuck around most or all of them. So yippeee for no cliff racers!

I don't really mind the fast travel or the compass and arrows in Oblivion. As far as fast travel goes I get kind of tired of walking the same roads(have yet to travel by horse, role playing reasons), seeing the same bandit camps running into baddies at pretty much the same exact spots. It doesn't matter that it was a rat when I first went there and now it is a bear, it just takes away from the immersion that they are always at the same place. I'm not startled by them if I know they are there. When it comes to the compass I just assume that whoever is sending me put a X on my map of Cyrodiil but I still have to find it. I have come across many caves/mines that even tho I'm standing right where that marker sent me I still have to run around in circles to find the entrance.

cliff racers were annoying but they helped to train low lvl characters. i sort of liked them until i became lvl 50 or so in the game.

I typically played with 100% difficulty, so at low levels they weren't good training. They were just frequently appearing disease causing death.

diseases were not that bad in morrowind. just get cured at a temple. or get a potion to carry with you if you are lazy.

When you're doing quests that require you to wander out into the ashlands looking for something you're hesitant to go back for healing, curing yourself costs too much mana for my likings (not nearly as bad with mana regen in Oblivion), and potions took up my precious precious encumbrance :)

I Love oblivion I only wish it had an ''impostor'' feature like in hitman. where you slay an enemy takes his clothes and his gang won't automatically start a fight with my character until they get real up close and personnal.

Or when you dress up as a guard(which should be a crime btw) you can access certain part of the castles without being bounty'ed until someone notices specifically that you aren't a guard

in hitman also when you follow someone an you get slightly into the targeted character's personnal space they stop walking, look at you and figure out if your suspicious or not

Also what would be cool would be to add a hand to hand guild where you do quest and they have to be done without weapons or magick...like a local extortion racket where you gotta rough up some shopkeepers to make them pay (kinda like The Godfather..the game )

Also in the futur I hope to see some WAR quests between provinces or cities, you know character VS character , less of that animals and monsters stuff (which is good but not very challenging in swordplay), think Arena + many hordes of characters/people

But there is one thing I find pretty dumb is that if you have a ''light on self'' spell(to explore dark caves and such) when you cast a invisibility spell (like darkbrother's death visage) why don't the necromancers think it suspicious to have a halo of light moving around all by itselfLike '' ho hum Im so evil it dark in my cave... no wait what's that where's that light coming from ...ATTACK!!! ''

Mind you oblivion is the first elder scrolls I've played ever, I should definatelly check morrowind

an enhancement to fighplay would be to have the option to toggle ''friendly fire'' on and off... well in this case friendly blading/blunting/bowing.

is it me or it there not enough virgin grass planes in oblivion...ya run toward a small hill and incrmentally small ankle high shrubbery start to appear

anyways long post sorry, I love Oblivion I want MORE of it

POTENTIAL ENDING SPOILER IN RED!

Post by Kavatch99 »

The thing i don't like about it is that if you're chased by a wolf, that wolf will keep chasing you unrelentlessly. I had a bandit and a wolf chase me around the city (forgot the name, but it's close to Dive Rock) like half-way before my character plunged into a lake.

Another thing is that i don't like. If NPCS start fighting you and there are weapons lying around, they'll use it, but if Adoring Fan is threaten, he just runs off, not even using his dagger. The worse part is that i lost him yet again! He was in the Imperial Palace during the finalie (I just beat the game) and after i saved and rebooted the game, he's, once again, nowhere to be found!

Run faster! Fortify your Speed in your pref'd manner and you should be able to outrun anything by enough for them to loose interest. But while they've still got you in their sights (or are still on your scent), then it seems to me quite reasonable that they keep chasing you.
